Hey Friends! I can’t believe it’s December! Christmas is just around the corner and this is my favorite time of year! I love everything about Christmas, and I really got into the Christmas spirit this week. The weather can’t make up it’s mind on whether it wants to be hot or cold. It keeps going back and forth between temps in the 30’s and temps in the 60’s. I’ll take 60 degrees any day! The 60’s made for nice running weather this week! more “It’s December!”
Hi Friends! Happy Weekend! I hope you are all having a great one! I think I did better this week than last week as far as training goes. Again I had to move things around because of the weather, but this weekend it has finally gotten cooler. I’m so excited for this next week’s runs. Saturday it was 68 when I went to run. I enjoyed every minute of it! It was so much better than pushing through a miserable run in the heat and humidity. I’m glad it’s finally feeling like fall! more “It Feels Like Fall”
Hi Friends! Happy Friday! Summer is here and I’m so excited! This is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love being outside and I love the warm weather. Today for the Friday Five I’m linking up with Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!, and Mar from Mar on the Run!. The topic for today is fitness, so I am sharing with you my five fitness goals for this summer! more “Friday Five: 5 Summer Fitness Goals”
Hi Friends! Happy Tuesday! Today I am liking up with Patty, Erika, and Marcia for Tuesday’s on The Run. This week’s topic is your running/racing window of comfort and what conditions/temps are ideal for you? I liked this topic because I actually think about this a lot. But, I wanted to break it down into two sections: running and racing. I think I look at these two things differently in terms of comfort. more “My Ideal Running / Racing Conditions”
Hello Everyone! Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Did you get your miles in? I tried, but the weather is not cooperating!
This was the last week of the Pile on the Miles Challenge. My goal this week was to walk or run for 30 minutes at least 5 days this week. If I count all the walking I did yesterday at the OU / OSU game, I met my goal! Here’s a brief recap of what I did this week.
Monday – I took a rest day from running because I had so much stuff I needed to get done before Thanksgiving. I did take Jake for a 2 mile run/walk. We ran the trails in our pasture. He ran for a mile with me, and then we walked for a mile.
Tuesday – I ran 3 miles. It was really cold and the wind was blowing really hard. Once my body adjusted to the cold, I had a really good run! I ran into some guineas that were friendly; they didn’t run from me.
Wednesday – I just went for a 2 mile walk on Wednesday. I woke up with a headache, sore throat, and I was having trouble breathing so I didn’t want to run and make it worse. I was planning on walking at least 3 miles, but it started misting really heavily, so I went home to get out of the wet weather. I drank a ton of water and doubled up on my vitamin C, so Thursday I felt much better!
Thursday – I got up early to get everything ready for all of our company. Once I was finished with all the last minute prep, I went for a 3 mile run in the rain! It wasn’t raining when I started, but it started coming down pretty hard halfway through. But, I have always wanted to run in the rain, and it was really fun! Plus, I was proud of myself for running on Thanksgiving. I could have easily found lots of excuses to stay home.
Friday – It was raining and sleeting all day, so I didn’t get to run. I keep telling Jeremy that I need a treadmill! I do some strength training and an ab workout.
Saturday – It was still raining hard when we got up. We left early to go to College Game Day, so I got a TON of walking in.
Sunday – It is still raining/icy/wintry mix so I am inside trying to stay warm. I did do some strength training and an ab workout.
Even though the Pile on the Miles Challenge has ended, I am still going to challenge myself to meet my goal each week. I also am thinking hard about starting training for a marathon. I found a plan that I like, and it has me running 4 days a week with long runs on Saturdays. It is the Hal Higdon Marathon Training Novice 1 program. I really think this is doable, if my leg and foot will allow me. I got new shoes and insoles yesterday, so hopefully that will help!
Make sure to check out my weekend recap post tomorrow when I tell all about College Game Day!
For this weekly update I’m linking up with Holly of HoHo Runs and Tricia of MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap. I’m also linking up with the other Weekly Wrap bloggers.
