Lost and Found on the Road

Hi Friends!   Today I am liking up with PattyErika, and Marcia for Tuesday’s on The Run, where we discuss all things running.  The topic today is random things you have seen on the road while out running.  I am really excited about this topic because I always see random items on the road.  It’s just stuff that I don’t understand what it’s doing there, or where it came from.  I’ve seen a lot of stuff, but I have only once picked something up.  more “Lost and Found on the Road”

Weekend Happenings

Happy Monday Everyone!  I had such a great weekend, and I hope you did too! We didn’t do anything over the top exciting, but we were on the go the whole weekend.  We spent the majority of the time outside, and we ate a lot of Mexican food! I didn’t get much sleep, but that’s okay because it was fun!   more “Weekend Happenings”

My Life This Week

Hi Friends!  I can’t believe another week has already gone by!  It feels like I was just sitting down yesterday to write a weekly recap.  Summer is definitely here.  This week our temperatures heated up quickly!  I had to get up really early to run before the days got too hot.  And you know I am not a morning runner!  But, I got it done. I really didn’t do much this week besides eating and running!   more “My Life This Week”

#SummerStrong Giveaway

Summer is the season for smoothies and shakes!  As the temperatures start rising, I start craving cold and creamy drinks.   During the summer I’m out in the sun all day and then I don’t have much of an appetite or feel like eating heavy food.  Instead, I love to have an ice cold protein shake or smoothie and it will keep me feeling full and hydrated.  I will have them for breakfast, lunch, and a snack.  I love using fresh fruit and veggies in my smoothies, and there is always an abundance of them in the summer!  more “#SummerStrong Giveaway”

Marathon Training Tips

Today I wanted to share some of the things that I learned when training for my first marathon.  After completing my training, I thought a lot about how I felt about it all.  It actually took me a couple of weeks to wrap my head around the fact that I actually did it and think about it all.  There were things that I did right, and things that I need to do differently next time.  These tips are just things that I learned while going through the training for the first time.  I am not an expert, as this was the first and only time I have done a marathon.  But, for all of you out there that are thinking about one, these are things that I would have liked to have known before I did it.  more “Marathon Training Tips”

Weekly Wrap: The Calm After the Race

Hi Everyone!  Happy May!  This week was the first week after my first marathon.  It was not at all like I expected it to be.  I really thought that I would be sore and miserable for several days.  But I wasn’t.  I also thought that I wouldn’t be able to run for a long time.  But I did!  I was actually surprised at how good I felt after the race.  It was kind of a lazy week, but I thought I deserved that after the crazy amount of training I’d been doing.   Here’s what I was up to this week.   more “Weekly Wrap: The Calm After the Race”

5 Ways Marathon Training Affected My Body

During this marathon training, I have learned a lot about myself, and about my running.  I have experienced new things and changes that I didn’t know that I would.  I have been asked questions about how training for a marathon has affected my body.  So, I thought I would share with you.  First of all, let me say that everyone is different, and everyone’s body handles things in different ways.  I am only sharing my experience with how my body was affected during my marathon training.  I am not an expert at any of this; it was all a learning experience for me.  I learned what worked and what didn’t, and I learned what to do differently next time.  Throughout all of this, when I would notice things, I didn’t know if they were normal or not.  It wasn’t until I wrote about some of it and got confirmation in my comments from many of you that have done this before me that I realized that it was okay.  more “5 Ways Marathon Training Affected My Body”

My First Marathon!!

I ran my first marathon this weekend!  I ran a marathon!!  It was unlike anything that I have ever experienced.  Just like training was, this race was a roller coaster of emotions.  The good news is that I finished! The beginning was great, the ending was awesome, but the middle part was absolute hell!  This was the hardest thing I have ever done, and I struggled more than I could have ever imagined.  But, I crossed the finish line.  more “My First Marathon!!”

Last Week of Marathon Training

Hi Guys!  It seems funny posting this since the race is over with, but this was the last week leading up to the race.  I had this already written up to Saturday.  So, I’ll go ahead and let you see what I did during my last week of training.   My goal going into this week was to make sure I was hydrating and resting.  I didn’t want to get to that start line and be tired before I started.  I think I did pretty well with both of those goals.  On Wednesday, it really started to sink in that it was finally here.  I started getting excited and nervous!  Also this week, I broke my plank streak.  I made it to day 15.  I’ll try to do another streak soon.  Here’s how my week went.   more “Last Week of Marathon Training”
