Hey Everyone! This week was back to reality for me. It was kind of bittersweet. I was really sad that vacation was over, but I was also ready to get back to my normal routine. I didn’t workout or really worry about what I ate on vacation at all. I’ll post about why soon. I just made sure to enjoy myself and my uninterrupted time with my husband. Hey Everyone! How was your week? Mine was pretty great! I had a good week of workouts. I did a killer leg circuit on Thursday and my legs were still sore on Saturday! My runs this week were okay. Hey guys! This weekend I was a little pressed for time, so I just threw something together for my lunches, but it turned out great!! It’s always nice to have a few go-to meals that can be thrown together quickly so you still have something healthy to eat. Hi Everyone! How are you today?
I’m doing great!! I thought I would catch you up on my weekend activities. It wasn’t a very restful weekend, but I also don’t feel like I was very productive. The highlight of my weekend was my run! But, I’ll get to that in a minute. more “The Cold is Finally Here: Weekend Update”
Happy Friday Everyone! This week went by so fast! I need to catch you up, so let’s go back to Wednesday and talk running and eating.
Wednesday morning I fixed some cranberry oatmeal. It’s my favorite breakfast right now.
I actually was wanting yogurt, but I was out and I didn’t want to chance it with McDonald’s again. So, oatmeal it was. After breakfast, Jeremy had games at a local elementary school. I went to watch the little kids, and they were so cute. At the end of the game, they let a little girl that had Down syndrome play, and I thought it was so sweet. They let her shoot the ball until she made it. Both teams would rebound it and hand it right back to her so she could shoot again. Everyone in the gym was clapping and chanting her name. She kept waving at the crowd and saying, “thank you”. When she finally made it, her whole team came out on the court and gave her a hug and high five. It was so sweet it almost made me cry.
When the games were over, I fixed some leftover spaghetti squash Alfredo for lunch.
After work, I went for a run. I had a 6 mile run scheduled and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it because my foot had been bothering me Tuesday night. I decided to run by my house just in case, so I ran the entire 6 miles on a quarter mile road, up and down.
But, I made it fine and had an awesome run! I felt great and had no aches or pains! The weather was beautiful! It was 62 degrees! I listened to some new songs on my phone. I am really liking Rachel Platten right now.
After my run, I went home and got Jake. It was so nice outside; I didn’t want to stay in. We went for a long walk, and he played in the pasture. He also got to play with our neighbor’s dogs while she was out walking them. We stayed out until it started getting dark.
By the time I got home, my foot was starting to hurt. So, I foam rolled and stretched my legs and feet. I iced my foot twice Wednesday night, and I rolled it on a frozen bottle of water. I’m not sure if that helps or not because the pain is mainly on the top of my foot.
Thursday morning when I got up, I could barely put any pressure on my foot. I took some Ibuprofen and iced it while I got ready for work, and it felt better. I also took a heating pad to work with me and wrapped it in that for awhile.
The heat seems to work better than the ice. After I used the heating pad, it felt fine. It didn’t bother me the rest of the day.
For lunch I had turkey roll ups. I made them with turkey, Laughing Cow light cheese spread, and asparagus. One of them had a pickle and half a slice of muenster cheese. I also had a package of yogurt covered pretzels.
When I got off work, I still didn’t have any pain in my foot so I decided to try and run my 3 miles. But, I ran close to home so if it hurt, I could stop. It didn’t hurt, and I had a great run! I’m just so happy with how good I have felt this week. Last week every run was a challenge, so this is awesome for my runs to feel easy!
After my run, I took Jake for a walk. He ran down the road and sniffed everything!
Then he ran in the pasture! Our new neighbors put up a gate, and Jake couldn’t figure it out. He didn’t like it!
When he got done walking, we went home and I iced my legs. My foot started hurting when I took my shoe off, so I iced it too.
I fixed spaghetti for dinner and Jeremy’s dad came over to eat with us.
I fixed myself some spaghetti squash and no one would try it!
I am so glad it’s Friday! And, I am really looking forward to my run tomorrow! I hope you have a great Friday and a great weekend!
What are you doing this weekend?
I am really contemplating this question today. I have been back and forth, and I can’t make up my mind.
Do you take a flu shot? I’m trying to decide if I should take one or not. I go through this internal debate every year, and I guess it’s just a gamble that I take. For as long as I can remember I’ve always gotten a flu shot. I have asthma and am considered “high risk”, so I have just always gotten the vaccine. And, for as long as I can remember, I’ve always gotten the flu. I usually get sick within 48 hours of taking the shot, and then I get the full on flu later in the season. I even got the H1N1 flu one year after taking both vaccinations. That was the sickest I have ever been!! My whole body hurt so bad, I couldn’t even move!
The past 3 years I have not taken a flu shot, and I have not gotten sick, except some respiratory infections. But, no flu! People act like I’m crazy when I say I’m not going to take one, and they strongly encourage me too. But, I feel like I have to do what’s best for me, and history has shown me that I always get the flu when I take the shot. I don’t know why, or if I’m just healthier now than I was before, but it seems like I fight it off better now. *Knock on wood* I’m probably jinxing myself writing this post, but I’m curious what you all think. Is it a huge deal if I don’t take it, or should I stop gambling with my health and just get vaccinated?

I have had a pretty uneventful week. There hasn’t really been anything to interesting or exciting going on. It’s just been a normal week, so I thought I would share with you what is normal for me.
After eating so much junk over the weekend, I was for some clean eating and detoxing. I prepped all of my food on Sunday, so I had all of my breakfasts and lunches ready to go. I started each day this week with a Dannon Light and Fight Greek Apple Pie Flavor Yogurt.
I did mix it up a little one day this week and ate a Greek vanilla with chocolate on top yogurt.
While I’m eating my yogurt, I am usually browsing Pinterest. I found this really cool race bib display one morning. I want to make one of these for my bibs!
For lunch each day I ate a salad. I used a Spinach, Kale, and Arugula blend and topped it with grilled veggies and chicken. I did not like the Skinny Girl Poppyseed dressing on this salad. It just tasted really funny with the kale and arugula. I like it with romaine lettuce. So, I ate the Skinny Girl Balsamic dressing the rest of the week.
Do you ever have days where you are just hungry? I mean like nothing fills you up, and you are starving all day? That’s how I was on Tuesday. I ate my breakfast, and then a couple hours later my stomach was growling! I ate a half of a granola bar and then lunch, and a little while after that the stomach was still growling. It was like a bottomless pit! I hate when it’s like that. I feel like I snack and eat more than normal, and I don’t like that. I think get like that when I don’t eat much the day before. On Monday, I was so upset from my doctor’s visit that I had no appetite. I had a small bowl of cereal for dinner and I woke up hungry on Tuesday.
Tuesday night, we practiced shooting our bows until a storm blew in. We went in, but it never actually rained.
Jeremy wanted breakfast for dinner Tuesday night, and I won’t ever turn that down! So, we fixed scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage, and bacon. Jake waited patiently for me to drop something!
After this meal, I was finally full!
On Wednesday, I got some funny texts from my best friend. She is pregnant and has had some morning sickness. She was telling me that if another person told her to try saltines that she was going to punch them! That made me laugh out loud! I feel bad for her because the sickness has been hanging on for a while now. She also told me that she was craving cookies. So, I went to the bakery and bought her some cookies, and then delivered them to her house.
She was so excited!! They were fresh out of the oven and smelled heavenly! So, of course I got some to take home.
I did eat a cookie Wednesday night, and I don’t even feel bad about it because it was that good! They were chocolate chip with milk chocolate chips – so decadent! It was so rich, so I know it was full of fat, but just one won’t hurt me! I sent the rest to my father-in-law so I wouldn’t be tempted!
Wednesday night, I fixed grilled turkey sandwiches for dinner. I forgot to take pictures, I was REALLY tired! I used Sara Lee 45 calorie Multigrain bread, microwave ready bacon, turkey slices, Sargento Ultra Thin 45 calorie mild cheddar, and Hidden Valley fat free ranch. I put the bread on a cookie sheet and put in in the oven under the broiler and toasted both sides. While I was doing that, I put the turkey in a skillet and cooked it until it was hot. Then I spread fat free ranch on the bread, layered it with turkey, bacon, and a slice of cheese. I put it back under the broiler to melt the cheese. These are quick, easy, and low calorie. I also like adding avocado to mine, but I didn’t have any. After dinner, I went straight to bed and was asleep as soon as I laid down, and so was Jake. He never gets in our bed, but for some reason he thought he needed to sleep with us, and he is laying on top of my legs!
Thursday was a pretty boring day. I had yogurt for breakfast, a salad for lunch, a granola bar for a snack, and eggs and toast for dinner.
Then, I attempted a headstand, and I impressed myself! I have been doing Blogilates all week since I can’t run, and I’m really enjoying it!
Jake went to the groomer and came back smelling really good! He loves getting cleaned! And, he loves the bandannas that he gets to wear home. He will wear them for awhile and then pull it off and run around with it in his mouth.
We saw an owl outside last night, I tried to get a picture of it, but this was the best I could do.
Tonight, I’m going to dinner with my family for my sister’s birthday and tomorrow night we have plans with some friends. So, it’s going to be a fun weekend!
