Hey Everyone! This week was back to reality for me. It was kind of bittersweet. I was really sad that vacation was over, but I was also ready to get back to my normal routine. I didn’t workout or really worry about what I ate on vacation at all. I’ll post about why soon. I just made sure to enjoy myself and my uninterrupted time with my husband. Real life can get so busy, so it was nice to unplug and be away from all distractions. more “Back To Reality”
Hey Guys! I hope you all had a great weekend and maybe had some Super Bowl fun! We had a very exciting weekend! It was full of friends, food, and lots of fun! We were on the go all weekend and I’ll probably be catching up on sleep all week. I hit snooze this morning for the first time in forever! Before we get to weekend, I owe you a quick recap from last week. more “A Wild Weekend”
This weekend was a complete blur! I was already tired going into the weekend, and then we were go go go all weekend. I spent my weekend watching ballgames, wrestling matches, and eating out.
Friday afternoon when I got home, I had a package waiting for me on my porch! It was my new Brooks! This is why I love Brooks. They have the best customer service in the world! I called them about my shoes that were coming apart, which were only a few weeks old.
They sent me some brand new ones. I had them within 5 days of calling! I didn’t have to return the defected ones, and I didn’t have to pay any shipping. Brooks is the best! They want to make sure you #runhappy!
Friday was a rest day from running, so I took Jake for a walk. We jogged a little, but he was more interested in sniffing everything than running today, which was fine with me.
Later that afternoon, Jeremy’s aunt and uncle came to visit for the weekend. We went out to eat at my favorite Mexican restaurant! Of course we started with chips and salsa, and then we ordered queso fundido for an appetizer. I know this is probably the worst thing for you. It’s just a plate of melted cheese, but I love it!
For my entrée, I ordered tacos al pastor. It’s pork meat on a corn tortilla and it is served with cilantro, onion, and a pineapple/chili sauce.
By the time it came, I was already full! There is always a ton of food when we eat Mexican. After dinner, we headed back to my father in law’s house to visit for awhile before going home to bed.
We got up really early Saturday morning, and it was snowing! I didn’t get any pictures because it wasn’t coming down hard enough and my camera wouldn’t capture the flakes falling. It didn’t stick. Jeremy had morning ballgames and I went with his aunt and uncle to watch our cousin wrestle. A lot of the family was there, so we had fun visiting between matches. It was a small tournament, so it was done before lunch.
We headed back to town and met Jeremy, his dad, and his other aunt and uncle for lunch. I had a grilled chicken salad with avocado. The chicken was juicy and seasoned just right. The salad was really good and very filling.
After lunch, we went home and I ran on the treadmill. It was way too cold and wet to run outside.
I had 7 miles scheduled for Saturday. This run was the best I had all week. It was not a great run, but it was an improvement from the rest of the week. I listened to the new Serial podcast, and that helped pass some of the time. I was just worn out, and my body felt so tired. But, around mile 6, I got a second wind. That last mile flew by, and I felt like I could have run a couple more. But, I was pressed for time, and I always have “don’t over train” in the back of my mind, so I stopped. I stretched and rolled my legs and back, and then I quickly got ready to go.
We all headed to Jeremy’s night games. He was calling the finals of a tournament, so the games were late. We got there around 6:00 and Jeremy’s games didn’t start until 7. One of our friends was calling the game before his, so I sat and visited with his wife and daughter. She’s 3 and wanted me to color with her! After that, I moved to sit with our family for the next game, and then I moved to sit with Jeremy’s refereeing partner’s wife for the last game. I was pretty social! It was either that, or fall asleep!
On the way home, we stopped and picked up Domino’s pizza. It was really late, and I don’t like eating that late, but I was starving from running that afternoon and not eating anything afterwards. We stayed up until after midnight visiting.
Once we got home, I went straight to bed and straight to sleep. I was exhausted. I got up around 9 Sunday morning and made a quick trip to Wal-mart to get some groceries for the week. Then we had lunch with the family. We had tacos! I was so hungry that I ate it all before I remembered to take a picture. (I actually forgot to take any pictures today!) We sat around all afternoon Sunday just talking and watching football. Then we had birthday cake for Jeremy’s aunt’s birthday. I splurged and ate a piece, and it was divine! It was an Italian Cream Cake, and it was so rich! (That’s why I didn’t make a resolution to cut out all sugar, just cut back <–smart thinking!)
After that, we went home to rest. We were both so tired that we were in bed by 8! We laid in bed and watched TV all evening. I even fixed us a snack to eat in bed.
We had this instead of dinner since we had eaten so much lunch and cake. It was a much needed relaxing night! I was asleep before 10, and I felt refreshed and energized when I woke up this morning. I love the weekends, but I always feel like I need another weekend to recover!
