A Fun Filled Weekend

Hi Everyone!  I’m back!

Just a quick note – this post may be a little scattered….that’s how my brain is right now!  Also, it’s a pretty long one!

I know I’ve been MIA for the past several weeks.  If you follow me on Instagram then you know why I’ve been so quiet.  I’m trying to get back to normal, or at least the “new” normal as everyone keeps saying.  more “A Fun Filled Weekend”

A Weekend Away

Happy Monday Friends!  I hope all of you had a great weekend.  I am still recovering from a very busy, but very fun weekend away!  This weekend was the fall baseball state tournament and Jeremy was chosen to umpire it.  I love the state tournaments because we get a mini vacation!   more “A Weekend Away”

Fun and Friends

Hi Guys!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  I sure did!  It was full of fun and friends! The temperature was still so hot, but we spent all day Saturday outside.  Jeremy was umpiring a baseball tournament this weekend so I spent some time at the games.  Let’s start with Friday night.  more “Fun and Friends”

A Perfect Weekend Getaway

Good Afternoon!  I had the best weekend getaway!  It was such a busy and fun weekend and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!  This weekend flew by way too fast!  I love weekends like this just as much as I love weekends where I get to stay around the house!   But, I especially love a weekend getaway.  more “A Perfect Weekend Getaway”

Weekend Warrior!

I had a very exciting weekend!  Jeremy was selected to umpire the high school state baseball tournament.   He has done this for the past few years, and I love it because it’s like a mini-vacation.  We go to Oklahoma City, which is two hours away from us.  We get to shop and eat at restaurants that we don’t have in our town.  We also get to stay at a Hilton, which is awesome!  I was so excited all week for the weekend to get here, then I woke up on Friday morning and I felt awful!  I could hardly swallow and I just felt bad.  I decided that instead of being miserable all weekend that I would run to the clinic to see what was wrong.

Congratulations, the test was positive.  I had strep throat.  Which is crazy!  I don’t know where I got it.  They loaded me up with some antibiotics and a shot and we headed out of town.  I got a small cappuccino for the road to try to help ease the pain in my throat.

Once we got there, I just wanted to sleep so Jeremy took me to the hotel to check in before his games started.  We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton.

They greet you just like they do on the commercials, with a hot chocolate chip cookie! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and check in is a breeze.

Walking in the front door, the cleanliness and modern design stands out.  The lobby is big and open and has a bar.  There are computers and TVs for the guests to use.

This hotel has an indoor pool, hot tub, and an awesome gym.  I had brought my running shoes and was planning on trying out my new insoles on the treadmill, but that didn’t happen.

I love the rooms because they are so spacious.  There is a living room area with a love seat, chair, and desk.  Then the bedroom area with a dresser, tv, bed, and closet.

The bed is my favorite part of the whole room. It is the most comfortable one I have ever slept on!  It is like sleeping on a cloud.  The mattress topper is so soft, and the bedding is even softer.  You just sink into it.

I also love the bathtub because it is huge!!  The picture doesn’t do it justice, it is really deep.

We went up to the room and I went straight to bed.  I slept for a couple of hours, and then got up and headed to the games.  Jeremy has to be there an hour before game time, so I dropped him off and headed to the mall.  I really needed to shop for some fall clothes, but I just didn’t feel like it.  The mall just had an H & M open up, so I was really excited about that.  But, it was packed full of people, so I didn’t stay in there very long.

I just walked around window shopping.  I only bought three things; which is shocking because I love to shop.  I bought a new Vera Bradley purse.  I’m really happy with this find because it was half off!

I bought this cute chambray dress at Forever 21.

And, this plaid tunic at Old Navy.

I also had a coupon for a free body spray from Victoria’s Secret.  I figured it would be a small sample, so I was really excited when I got a big bottle!

I walked around the mall for about an hour and decided to head back to the games so I could sit down.

I was a trooper and sat through about 4 innings until I got too cold. Then, I slept in the car for a couple of hours until the games were over.

After the games, it was late and I still wasn’t feeling very good and the only thing that sounded good to me was breakfast.  We went to Denny’s and I ate some blueberry pancakes.

Saturday morning I woke up really early and felt amazing!  The medicine had finally kicked in and I felt great, and had a lot of energy!

We went to breakfast at the hotel.

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (3)

Our breakfast is always included in our room, and it is so good.  They have a small buffet with sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits, hashbrowns, and gravy.  They also have some healthy options to choose from – fresh fruits and yogurt.  Plus, they have muffins and assorted pastries, English muffins, bagels, and toast.   And, they have cold cereals and oatmeal.

I ate some toast and oatmeal topped with brown sugar and cranberries.

Then we headed to Bricktown to the championship games.  The games were at the Bricktown Ball Park.  It is home of the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the minor league team of the LA Dodgers.

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (9)

This is a huge honor to be selected to do the championship game.  There are only 6 umpires in the whole state that are picked.  I am so proud of my man!

I love going to the ballpark.

We get to park in the players gated parking lot, and enter in through a back entrance.

Jeremy goes underground to the official’s locker room to dress.  I always make sure I have a front row seat for his game!

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (21)

He had a pretty exciting game.  There was a lot of scoring, which kept it interesting.  I thought he did a great job!

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (12)

After the game, we headed to Norman to watch his cousin play little league football.  This was the first game we have been too, and it was fun!  His cousin was so cute in his football uniform, and he played so hard!  These are 10 and 11 year olds, and the team they were playing looked like they were all about 14 or 15.  So, our team lost but it was fun to see all the family.

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (27)

On our way home, we stopped and ate dinner at Ted’s.  It is a Mexican restaurant, our favorite kind!

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (16)

We were starving!  This restaurant has the best chips and salsa.  The setup also comes with cheese dip, and we tried the atomic salsa as well.  It is a jalapeno based salsa with avocado in it. (It’s in the middle)  It was spicy!  But, I really liked it.

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (14)

We ordered a dinner to share.  It had one beef enchilada, two cheese enchiladas, and a taco.  This was my cheese enchilada after Jeremy took all of his off the plate.  We were so hungry that I forgot to take a picture before we dug in!

Weekend Warrior New Blog Post (15)

Dinner was so good, but I was really proud of myself for not overeating!  I tend to do that when we eat Mexican.  But, this time I stopped when I was full.  It was almost midnight by the time we got home.  I slept most of the way home, and we went straight to bed!

Overall, it was a really fun weekend!

What did you do this weekend?

The Best Sport Ever

ballsMy absolute favorite sport has to be baseball!  Although, it hasn’t always been that.  I grew up in a football town, and went to a football school with games every Friday night.  My family is a football family.  I was on the drill team in high school, and I loved being on the field under the bright lights and on the sidelines cheering on my team.  Friday nights were my favorite time of the week!  Football games were the place to be, and the whole town came out to watch.  It was tradition, and still is!  In college, every weekend was about Oklahoma University football games.  If I wasn’t at the game, all my friends got together at someone’s house to eat and watch the game on TV.  It was really fun to hang out with friends and cheer for a team.  We still do this when we can, but it’s just not as often as it used to be.  But, I’m not as into football anymore like I used to be.  I like to get together with my friends, but I just can’t get into the games like I used to.  I still like football, but not as much as I did.

Now, my favorite sport is baseball; which is very ironic, because I used to absolutely despise it!  I never wanted to watch games, they bored me.  I couldn’t stand to watch them on TV, and I had only ever been to high school baseball games, which I hated.  I guess this is probably because football was the main sport at my school, and no one in my family really liked baseball that much. The Best Sport Ever

This all changed when I met Jeremy.  He was a diehard, loyal Yankees fan.  He also had played baseball in high school and college, and he umpired baseball.  So, I guess I really didn’t have much of choice because I was around it all the time.  He wanted to watch it on TV, and we were always at games, and I still hated it.  But, I eventually fell in love with the game and I can remember exactly when. Nine years ago, for Jeremy’s birthday I surprised him with tickets to watch the Yankees play at the Rangers.  I bought tickets for all three games in the series.  When I walked into that ballpark is when it all changed. 102_1723

Being able to see the game in person and hear all the cheers, chants, music, and noise was just amazing!  I started following the Yankees too, and eventually became more of a Yankee fan than my husband.  I was keeping up with players and stats, and I loved it all!   I would actually sit and watch games on TV.  Plus, I even liked it that the seasons were long.   My favorites were Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, and Jorge Posada, the Core 4!

The Core Four

I do like Robinson Cano and A-Rod too.  I really like Johnny Damon, and still do, even though he doesn’t play for the Yankees.

A-Rod

My absolute favorite of all of these is Mariano Rivera.  I liked him because he was always so calm and he always has a smile on his face.  He would have so much pressure on him to save a game, and he never let it show.  I loved the way he winds up to pitch.  Plus, I read his book, The Closer , and I respect how hard he worked to get to where he was.

For six or seven years in a row, we went to watch the Yankees every time they were playing the Rangers!  It was so much fun, and I liked it that the core players were the same year after year.

Derek Jeter

When we would go to the games, we would get there hours early and wait in line outside the gates.  When the gates would open, we would go running in to wait in line for autographs.  I would go to the autographs line, and Jeremy would go to the outfield to try and catch balls.  It was always so hot in Texas, and I would be drenched in sweat by the time the game started, but it was always worth it!  I have gotten autographs from Jose Molina, Nick Swisher, Johnny Damon, Mariano Rivera. The Best Sport Ever Autographs

I really don’t think I have ever been “star-struck” in my life.  I have met a lot of famous singers, and have never been tongue tied or awkward before.  But, when I met Mariano and Johnny Damon, that’s exactly how I felt.

When I got Johnny Damon’s autograph, I jumped over a seat and accidentally spilled a lady’s nachos and she was screaming at me!  We offered to buy her more, but she didn’t want them.  Honestly, I didn’t really care because I got Johnny Damon’s autograph, and a picture of him!

Another exciting thing that happened when we were at a game one year was a bad storm blew in.  At first we all just had to go inside, but then a tornado came and they crammed us all underground in the tunnel.  Everyone that was in the ballpark was squished in those tunnels!  I don’t know how long we were down there, but it felt like forever!  We ended up right outside the Yankees clubhouse, so we got to peek in at the players when the door would open.  It was really exciting!

I look forward to baseball season now all year long.   I love the Yankees because there is so much history with the franchise, and I love how classy they all seem.  You don’t see Yankees cussing or showing up umpires.  They are all clean cut and look nice.  We have watched other teams where the players are mouthing fans, or cussing the umpires.  Major league players are looked up to millions of kids, and it doesn’t set a good example when they are being disrespectful.  Yes it stinks to lose, but there is a graceful way to handle it.  I think the Yankees set a great example.  This is one of the reasons why I love them so much!

Hopefully, someday soon we can go to Yankee Stadium to watch a game there.

Weekend Recap!

Hi Everyone!

I know this post is a day late, but the Facing My Fears post needed to be posted first.  I had a really busy weekend, but as always it was a lot of fun.  Even though we had so much going on, we still got to catch up on some rest and sleep in a little bit!  I always love that!!

Alright, I’ll start with Friday night.  I went to a baseball game with one of my best friends.  Her husband was coaching and her son was playing.  My husband was umpiring.  It always makes the game more interesting when she and I go together.  The weather was absolutely perfect!  I love fall baseball games, especially at night, when the weather is not too hot or not too cold.  While we were there, I saw an old friend and got to reconnect with her.  We went to college together and she has recently moved back to town so her husband can coach at the same school that my friend’s does.  It was really nice to sit and talk with her, and I’m so excited that she’s back.  The three of us were already making plans to get together!  My best friend and I also made plans to go golfing.  I am absolutely horrible at golf!  I literally cannot even hit the ball.  But, she is pretty good, and I am awesome at driving the golf cart, so it will be a good time!

On Saturday, I got up early and went for a run while it was cool.  I had an AWESOME run – the best I’ve had in a while!  I ran 4.5 miles, and then I got a phone call from my sister and walked the half mile back home while I talked to her.  The weather was so nice.  It was overcast and cool.  There was a breeze blowing, and it wasn’t humid at all.  Which means I was able to actually breathe.

2015-08-17 18.12.12

After my run, I had to go to town to do a couple of errands – I was out of shampoo and that’s never a good thing!  Then I came home and cleaned the house.  (I’m a little OCD about cleaning!)

I have been griping about my shower and not being able to get it completely clean.  So, one of my friends told me about something her mom uses and I tried it and it worked!!  I mixed up some baking soda, vinegar, and dawn soap.  I don’t know how much of each I used, but I put enough in there to make a paste and then rubbed it all over the shower and let it sit for a couple of hours.  Then I took a magic eraser and scrubbed it off.  My grout is actually white again!

Tips to clean grout

Saturday night, we went to eat dinner with my family for my dad’s birthday.  We ate Mexican, which I love!  Jeremy and I shared some queso and then I had a taco al pastor.    After dinner, we went to my parent’s house to have strawberry cake and homemade ice cream.  I’m not a big ice cream eater – actually I could never eat it again and be fine!  It really upsets my stomach. L  But, I do love homemade strawberry cake!  The strawberries make the cake so moist!  I could have eaten half of it by myself, but I didn’t.  (I’ll have to post my family’s recipe for homemade strawberry cake – it is awesome!) After visiting with my family, we went to my father in law’s to visit for a little while before going home.  We stayed up late watching TV so we slept in a little on Sunday. My phone was dead, so I didn’t get any pictures.

When we got up Sunday, we to our lease to check our trail cameras and fill up our feeders.

IMG_4784 Yes, I like to hunt!  I used to go with Jeremy and just watch while he hunted.  But, a few years ago our cousins started hunting and I would go sit with them as well.  It was just fun for all of us to get together and have a common hobby.

IMG_2616

I really got into it and I really enjoy that it is something that Jeremy and I can do together. Before, I was always at home alone during hunting season.  But not anymore!  And, yes we do eat the meat, and if we end up with more than we can eat, we donate it to Hunters for Hunger or just give it away to friends and family.  You’ll hear more about this as the season gets closer.

Ok, back to Sunday – after leaving our land, we stopped at Walmart to pick up a few groceries.  I got two cases of Lipton’s Diet Green Tea – mixed berry flavor.  I am stocked up for a couple of weeks!  I love this stuff!

Tea

I also got some new mums.  My mums didn’t make it through the extreme weather that we had this summer.  It was way too wet and then it was way too hot for them.  So they were looking pretty rough.  We planted the new ones and then we cleaned up the flower beds a little bit.

garden

Then we cooked out on the grill.  I know it wasn’t a healthy choice, but I did eat a small serving!  We had brats and hot links and my father in law came over for dinner.

IMG_4805After dinner, we sat outside with our dog.  The weather has been so nice at night.  I’m ready for fall and for the weather to cool down a little bit during the day.  The sky was so clear, and the moon was full.  It was beautiful and it was the perfect end to a great weekend!
