The Boot is Gone!

Hey Guys!  This recap is a few days late, and I know I owe you a couple week’s worth, but I’ve been busy!  So we’re going to go all the way back to last Tuesday to start this off.  (Because I honestly can’t remember what I did last Monday, and I have no pictures!)  Last week was a total blur!  With Halloween being in the middle of the week, it kind of threw me off.  It made Tuesday feel like Friday.  Then I woke up disappointed on Wednesday since it wasn’t Saturday!

So here we go…all the way back to last Tuesday, which was Halloween.  The temperature dropped over 30 degrees.  It was freezing all day!  My mom, dad, and I braved the cold and passed out candy at our church’s trunk or treat.

I wore three shirts (2 insulated), a coat, two pairs of insulated leggings, thick wool socks, Uggs, a headband (and my cat ears), earmuffs, and gloves and I still froze!  It wasn’t so bad until after dark.  Even though it was so cold, a lot of people came and we had fun looking at all of the costumes.  I was actually a little shocked at how many adults came through with their own candy bags…some of them without kids!  We ran out of candy pretty quickly and I headed home around 7:30.  I could not wait to warm up in a hot shower!

Wednesday I took Jake for a walk.  I’m pretty sure it’s the first time I have attempted it alone since I had surgery.  He usually walks really well, but he will pull me if he gets excited, and I have a hard time holding him.  He pulled a little, but we were able to walk about half way down the block and back.  It was so beautiful outside so we ended up sitting on the back porch for a while after his walk.

Thursday Jeremy and I went to Norman for my latest follow up appointment for my foot.  I finally got cleared to walk without the boot!  That was THE best news!  He also said I could start some light strength training and light weights.  He said I could do body weight squats and also sumo squats holding a light dumbbell, but no lunges, which was okay with me since I hate doing them anyways. 😉  And I can’t do anything that will put any strain on the muscle in the side of my foot…such as vaccuming…and again, fine with me because I do not enjoy it!  I am cleared to do all the walking I want!  My next appointment is in a month and he is anticipating at that time I will be released to all normal activity except running.  He is thinking that in mid-January he will allow me to try and start jogging.  He’s pretty optimistic that I will be able to run again.  He’s not quite 100% sure, but I’m going to do everything I can to make that happen.  I’m just excited that he’s not saying no to running!

It felt so weird to be walking in shoes!  And, we did a lot of walking that afternoon.  I had almost 10,000 steps today, which is a huge improvement from the 2,000 and below that I’ve been having since surgery!  The first thing we did was go shopping.  I have been wearing dresses, shorts, and tights with that boot.  I was in desperate need of some new pants for the colder weather.  But, with the boot it’s been almost impossible to go shop and try on anything.  I got three new pairs!!

After that, we headed to Academy – Jeremy’s favorite store.  We spent a little over 2 hours in there!  We ended up with a new fire pit and some more hunting stuff.  I’m pretty excited about that fire pit!  I can’t wait until we use it.

We made a couple more stops before heading home for the night.  My foot was worn out, so I went straight to the couch!  My dinner was pumpkin spice Cheerios.

Friday morning I was wide awake at 5 am.  I got up and had some Spark and spent some extra time getting ready for the day.  Later in the afternoon I walked a half mile today by myself and then took Jake for another short walk.

Friday night we were on our way to eat and we drove past the football stadium.  It was packed, so we pulled in and walked in.   The score was 30-0 so we turned around and walked right back out.  We went to our taco place and shared some tacos.  I had a fish taco and a chicken taco and some beans.  It was so good!  I didn’t think I ate that much, but I was so full that I couldn’t even finish both the tacos.

We headed home and ended the night watching Live PD.  Saturday morning we slept in and I went on another walk.  This time I walked a mile!

I thought I could’ve gone farther, but I didn’t want to push it yet.  And, I’m glad I didn’t.  That night my foot hurt so bad that I couldn’t even sleep, but, it was better the next day.  Jeremy went hunting so I hung around the house all afternoon catching up on the shows on the DVR.  I am really into Riverdale.  Is anyone else watching season 2?  When he got home we cooked a pizza and watched football.

Sunday afternoon I went to visit my family.  My grandma had baked us a loaf of banana bread.  I could hardly wait to get home and have a piece!

That night we had Jake’s birthday party.  He turned 8 on Saturday.  He was so excited.  He was jumping around all over the house.   He got a ton of presents and had a blast opening each one.

After presents, he got a “pupcake” from our local pet store.

He inhaled it!  He was so excited that he wouldn’t sit still long enough for us to get a picture.

Then he played with all of his toys.  He couldn’t choose just one so he tried each of them.

He tired himself out and took one of his toys to bed with him.

I hope you guys all have a great week!  I promise not to make you wait so long for the next recap.  I’ll be back this weekend with another one.

Yay! I remember being so excited getting out of my boot in college! The first thing I did was schedule a pedicure because my foot needed some TLC.
