Back To Reality

Hey Everyone! This week was back to reality for me.  It was kind of bittersweet.  I was really sad that vacation was over, but I was also ready to get back to my normal routine.  I didn’t workout or really worry about what I ate on vacation at all.  I’ll post about why soon.  I just made sure to enjoy myself and my uninterrupted time with my husband.  Real life can get so busy, so it was nice to unplug and be away from all distractions. 

Coming back was a little hard at first because I was so tired!   But, I caught up on some rest and got all of our stuff unpacked and a zillion loads of laundry done and then it was time to get back in the normal swing of things.  So here’s how my first normal week went.

Monday morning I started my day with some Spark and Greek yogurt that I topped with banana and blueberries. 

Okay, I will admit that today wasn’t my normal routine.  I binge watched Big Little Lies.  I seriously watched the entire season in two days!  I started it Sunday night and finished it on Monday.  On the plane to Atlanta, they had the first episode available and I watched it and was hooked!  I did do some abs and arms while I watched.  

Later that afternoon I took a break from the show and went grocery shopping.  We had no food in the house!  I shopped at every grocery store we have in town.  I was on a mission to find my yogurt.  Walmart quit carrying it right before we left.  I thought maybe they were just out, but today there wasn’t even a spot for it.  Unfortunately, none of the stores in town have it.  It’s the Dannon Light and Fit 70 calorie yogurt.  It’s my favorite, but I guess I’ll have to go back to the 80 calorie.  All that shopping made me hungry, so I had a snack when I got home.  I had blueberries, carrots, and roasted pine nut hummus. 

The rest of the day I watched Big Little Lies.  When Jeremy got home from work, I made us some sub sandwiches for dinner.  I don’t know why I always forget to take pictures of these.  Mine had turkey, turkey pepperoni, salami, swiss, and Italian dressing.  Jeremy’s had turkey, ham, salami, pepperoni, cheddar, and Italian dressing. 

Tuesday morning I slept in a little.  When I got up, Jake and I sat outside enjoying the cool weather. It was 74 degrees almost all day, which was a nice break from the 98-99 degrees that it has been. 

I decided to do my workout outside so I could enjoy the weather.  I did some core work while Jake played in the yard.  I just finished before the rain started and it rained for the rest of the afternoon. 

I had an appointment later to get my oil changed.  It was pouring by the time I had to leave to do that.  I dropped my car off at the dealership and Jeremy picked me up.  We ran by my office to pick up some stuff and talk to my boss and then went back to get my car.  I ran a couple more errands before heading home to eat some yogurt for lunch.  

When the rain finally stopped, we took Jake for a walk.  Since I’ve had this boot, I haven’t tried to walk him by myself yet.  He pulls me and I’m afraid he’ll make me fall.  So, we waited till Jeremy got home and he walked him.  

We had sandwiches for dinner again and watched Last Man Standing.  Has anyone else seen this show with Tim Allen?  It’s a few years old, but reruns have been playing on one of our stations and we like it a lot.  It’s on Netflix and I think we’re going to binge watch all 5 seasons! 

On Wednesday morning Jeremy woke me up early because Max scratched Jake and Jeremy swatted Max and he thought he got him harder than he meant to.  Since we’ve been back from vacation, Max has started being pretty aggressive towards Jake, and he will not leave our porch.  If Jake walks anywhere near the porch, Max will go after him and try to scratch him.  I don’t know why he keeps doing it, but Jake is so timid that he just runs from him and now he’s afraid to go out in the yard alone if Max is out there.  This morning, Max scratched Jake in the side as he was going out the door.  He got him pretty good, but I think it scared Jake more than it hurt him.  Jake and Max were fine when I went to check on them.  Max was waiting in the garage for his food, and Jake was running around the yard.  I really hate to swat animals, but I just don’t want him to scratch Jake’s eyes.  I’m hoping he will quit being so mean.  

So, since I was up so early I decided to clean my house.  I had some Spark and toast and got busy.  When I finished, I still had so much energy so I did a weight circuit and some abs. 

After my workout I had some yogurt with blueberries and Special K cereal on top.  I also threw in some chia seeds. 

Then I spent the rest of the day working on some blogging stuff and some work stuff.  

When Jeremy got home we took Jake on a walk and he got to play with his friend, Scout.  They ran and ran until Jake was so tired that he could barely walk home.  

When I went grocery shopping on Monday, Aldi had steaks on sale.  I bought Jeremy a huge T-bone and a two pack of ribeyes for $22!  He was pretty excited! He decided to cook all of it at once.  We also grilled some zucchini and squash. 

While dinner was cooking, we sat out on the porch.  Max and Jake were both on there and Max was being nice.  Then our neighbor’s dog came to the fence and scared Max.  He jumped up and hissed at Jake and tried to claw him in the face.  Jeremy swatted him again, and he ran and hid under our building.   🙁  I just don’t know what’s wrong with him.  He’s never been like that towards Jake.  And, Jake has never done anything to him to scare him or make him mad.  They usually just lay around together on the porch.  I hope we can break him of that, or I’m going to have to get him out of our yard.  

We had steaks, salads, and grilled squash and zucchini for dinner.  And, there were lots of leftovers! 

We stayed up late watching Last Man Standing. 

Thursday morning when I got up, Jake and I had some toast and then we sat on the front porch for a while.  Jake likes walking around the front yard.  There are lots of smells out there from all the other dogs.  

I took a rest day today.  It wasn’t planned, but when I started my workout, I was so sore that I decided to just stretch and rest. 

I had some errands to run and went over to visit my grandma for a little while.  It was her birthday!  Later that evening, we had dinner at my mom’s to celebrate. 

We had burgers, hot dogs, chips, and beans for dinner.  I ate my burger wrapped in lettuce.  I have a weakness for Cheetos.  I love them!  I was so hungry by the time we ate.  All I had eaten today was some toast. I guess I had been so busy that I didn’t even realize it until we sat down to eat. 

My mom made this giant fruit platter and I ate my share (and probably several others) of cherries!

My grandma opened her presents and we had cake. 

When the party was over, Jeremy and I came home and sat on the porch with Jake until it was dark.  Then we came in and watched the new show, The Sinner, with Jessica Biel.  Did anyone else see this?  Thoughts?  I’m not really sure how I feel about it yet. 

Friday morning I got up early and Jake and I sat on the back porch and shared our toast.  It was super cool and breezy outside so I worked out there for a couple of hours on some blogging and my other work. 

Lunch was some Spark and yogurt with blueberries.  I wasn’t very hungry, but I knew I had to eat something since I was about to workout.    

I did a lower body workout and abs.  I have been figuring out what kinds of exercises I can do with this boot on and not put pressure on my foot.  It’s not too bad.  There are lots of things I can do and still feel like I’m getting a good workout in.  Today I did a TON of leg lifts, donkey kicks, inner leg lifts, and I tried some squats. I wore ankle weights on my other leg to add weight to it.  My legs felt like jelly when I was done!

The rest of the day and night were pretty low key.  We decided to order in and stay home and watch TV.  We ordered Rib Crib.  I ordered a chicken sandwich and a side salad.  

Saturday morning I woke up at sunrise and I was wide awake.  I knew that I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep so I got up and found a workout to do.  I did this one from simplytaralynn.com.

When I finished that, I did another short ab circuit.  

Then I had some breakfast!  I had ground turkey and eggs.  

The rest of the day I hung around the house with Jake and Jeremy.  We went out to dinner at a different Mexican restaurant than we usually eat at.  I had the Pollo Loco.  It’s two grilled chicken breasts with onions and all the other stuff.  I love the onions!  

It stormed all night and that kept me awake, so I slept till 10 on Sunday.  I never sleep that late!!  I took a rest day today and Jeremy and I picked up a few groceries and have just been hanging around the house. Tonight we’re cooking more steaks and squash and zucchini.  We have more in our garden that we can eat.  Everyone we know is getting deliveries!

    I could not get into big little lies at all. I tried but really thought the characters were so unlikable. You look super cute trying to do your exercises with the boot on

      Lol thanks! It has been a lot of trying…but I’m figuring it out! I just have a hard time sitting still! I couldn’t quit watching big little lies because I wanted to see how it ended! It was a lot of drama!

    Last Man Standing is on CW up here, and I’m normally home to watch at least one of the two episodes each day. I have Big Little Lies in my Netflix queue since I don’t have HBO.

    Its nice to get away but it is always nice to come back to home! Did you have your boot on on vacation?

      I got the boot before we left, but the dr said I didn’t have to wear it while we were there. That would have been miserable!! He just told me to take it easy and try not to be on it too much.

    I hate when you find something you love and then you cant find it at the store anymore! Coming home from vacation is so hard–I always go in to a bit of a sadness/blues for a day or two after. Glad to see youve hopped right back on to your routine!

      I do that too! I’m so sad that it’s over and I’m already in planning mode for our next one. Lol

    I’m glad that boot isn’t stopping you! How long will you have to wear it? It drives me nuts we I like a food product and the stores quit carrying it or the manufacturer stops making it. Poor Jake! I hope Max will start acting better towards him.

      I hate when I find something that I like and then I can’t buy it anymore!! I’m in the boot for 4-6 weeks. 🙁

    I haven’t seen Big Little Lies – without cable, I’m stuck waiting for it to come to Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime. I read the book though and am interested to see how it plays on screen! I can imagine doing donkey kicks with that boot would be hard – but it’s great that the boot isn’t stopping you! Even minor injuries seem to sideline my training more than it should, so your perseverance is inspiring! Thanks for linking up!

      Thank you!! That just made my day! 🙂 That boot is annoying, but it’s adding extra weight which helps! I watched Big Little Lies on Amazon Prime. I signed up for the 7 day free trial of HBO and then cancelled it when I finished the series. I want to read the book now that I watched it.

      Thank you! I usually just find a circuit on Pinterest and do it several times. Or I will find a Fitness Blender video on YouTube. Those are my favorite.
