Hey Guys! I had so much fun hosting the Weekly Wrap last week! I hope you were able to stop by and meet some new people. I had so much fun reading everyone’s posts and meeting new bloggers! This week’s guest host is Zenaida Arroyo hop on over to her blog and show her some love!
This week was unbearably hot outside. I guess that’s what I have to look forward to for the next few months. It’s okay as long as I’m in the pool, but it’s not great for running. I had a solid week of workouts, with a few runs sprinkled in when I could find a cooler time. And, I’m sorry (not sorry) but this post is full of pictures of Jake. For some reason he’s been glued to me all week.
My last recap left off on Sunday afternoon, and I have to share what happened the rest of the day. Jeremy surprised me with a new washer and dryer! We’ve been needing some new ones! Jeremy and his dad got them hooked up for me on Sunday afternoon. I was so excited!
While they were working on that, I went for a run. It was raining, but I didn’t care. It was so much cooler than it’s been so I took full advantage. I had an awesome run! The last couple of weeks I had been really down on myself about my running – to the point where I didn’t even want to try and run. I was struggling to make it three miles without stopping. I know the heat and humidity were playing into that, but it’s still hard to get past that when every run I had been attempting had been awful. So, I was super excited about this 3 miles and how easy it felt!
Monday morning I woke up to this.
Jake was standing at the bed whining as soon as it was light outside. I drug myself out of bed and took him for a walk. By the time we got finished, it was way too hot for me to run.
Plus, I had to wait at home all day on UPS. Jeremy bought me a new laptop for my birthday! He outdid himself this year! Mine is acting like it’s going to crash and I started worrying about it quitting. So, he told me to pick one out and order it. He didn’t have to tell me twice! I ordered it immediately. I had to sign for it, so I was stuck at home all day.
And, Jake had a visitor. They laid like that for almost an hour! It’s the neighbor’s dog and she has a fence around her yard. Her poor dogs got out and couldn’t get back in and she was gone all day. They laid in my yard all day and it was so hot. I kept giving them water because I felt so bad for them. 🙁
Then, I did some abs and arms. Jake was acting really weird today. I have no idea why. While I was doing planks, he crawled underneath me.
Later he laid by the door and put his head behind it. He’s never done that before. He’s so weird!
When I finished my workout, I made a smoothie with my new Nutribullet. I love it!! It had blueberries, peaches, and chia seeds.
Once my computer got here, I couldn’t wait to open it and get it going! I spent the afternoon transferring files from my old one to the new one.
Right before dark, I headed out for a quick run. I just ran two miles and was done.
Monday night we grilled hot dogs. I am on a turkey dog kick right now! I just love them and can’t get enough! I have been kind of obsessed with three things this week and I can’t stop eating them. 1. Turkey dogs, 2. blueberries (and I may have eaten an entire container in 24 hours), and 3. chocolate PB2 (Thanks to my friend Mackenzie, I have been eating this nonstop. She told me to put it in the freezer and it tastes like chocolate peanut butter ice cream! And, it’s so low in calories! It’s just so good and the perfect snack!)
When I got up Tuesday, the weather said it was going to be 94 outside. I decided to take a rest day and float in the pool. I had the perfect afternoon floating in the pool and soaking up the sun!
Tuesday night we grilled some chicken and steak. We had picked some zucchini and squash from our garden and decided to grill it too. I like to cook them in foil packs. I marinated them in Italian dressing before we grilled them. They turned out phenomenal!
Wednesday morning I got up and headed down to Jeremy’s aunt and uncle’s house. His aunt was going to take in a dress for me. I have been searching for a plain white dress for months and finally found one…..and it was too big. It was the smallest size they had so I couldn’t exchange it. So I was hoping it could be taken in and luckily it could! I need it for vacation. Sandals always has a “white night” with a chocolate buffet and everyone is supposed to wear white.
I was down there for a couple hours while she fixed it. I really didn’t feel so great on Wednesday. When I got back home, I crawled into bed and stayed there for most of the day. I don’t know what the deal was, but my stomach and head hurt bad. I didn’t even get 5,000 steps that day! On Wednesday night, Jeremy grilled me a turkey dog and I ate some leftover chicken. I hadn’t eaten all day and was finally feeling a little hungry. I think sleeping most of the day helped a lot!
It was supposed to be cloudy and cooler all day so of course I was going to take advantage of that and run. I was less than 3 minutes into my run and the sun came out and the breeze quit. And, of course it stayed out the entire time I ran! Once I was home, it went back behind the clouds for the rest of the day! What the heck?!! I got in three miles and that was all I could handle.
After I cooled off I did an hour full body circuit. Then I went over to visit my mom and grandma for a few hours. When I got home, I took Jake for another walk and then Jeremy and I stood outside forever talking with our neighbors. When we finally came in, we got dinner ready and we grilled again (theme for the week!). Tonight we grilled bacon wrapped fillets and bacon wrapped chicken. We had some more zucchini and squash. I put this is a foil pack with Lawry’s, garlic powder, and a little butter.
We are such night owls. It was almost 1 am before we went to bed. It’s been that late almost every night this week. That makes it so hard to get up in the mornings! Good thing I have a huge stash of Spark! We have got to work on that!
Friday morning I was up by 7:30. It was already 89 degrees and sunny. So, Jake and I went on a quick walk. It was supposed to be rainy all day and I was actually kind of looking forward to that. I was hoping that it would be cool and I could run. But, that’s what’s so fun about Oklahoma weather. You never know what you’re going to get. When I went to bed Thursday night, it was a 90% chance of rain all day. When I got up Friday morning, it was now sunny all day with a 20% chance of rain at 3:00. It’s crazy!
Since it was so hot, I worked out inside. I did Jess Runs Blessed 100 ab workout and it is a killer! My abs were on fire and I struggled to get through 3 rounds of it.
And, Jake tried to plank with me. 🙂 I’m telling you, he’s been glued to me all week. I don’t know what his deal is. He won’t let me out of his sight.
After that workout, I had some leftover chicken and vegetables for lunch.
Friday night we decided to go to Rib Crib for dinner. Our service was terrible! If it wasn’t for the manager, who is an old friend, I don’t think we would have ever been served. We got a free appetizer, so of course I wasn’t going to be rude and not eat any. 🙂 I tried a few of the Asian Fusion flavor and they were really good!
After that and a side salad, I was pretty full. But, Jeremy ordered a meal (which I forgot to take pictures of). He ordered ribs and sliced brisket. It came out with ribs and smoked chicken. I told him not to try and send it back, I’d eat the chicken. The first piece that I tried to cut in half was so tough, that somehow the knife slipped and ended up flipping the chicken off the plate and I ended up with bbq sauce all over my face and hair! Jeremy thought this was hilarious! Luckily there was no one sitting near us to see that!
Saturday morning Jake was up again as soon as it was light out! I got up with him and let him out. I tried to go back to sleep for a little while longer but couldn’t. So, I took him for a walk. Today was an unusually cool day. It was cloudy and windy and in the 70’s all day. I loved it! After our walk, I had some toast, Spark, and Catalyst and got ready to run. I went to our local park to run. I actually had a really good pace, and was running really well. But, this is probably TMI, I had to go to the bathroom. The park was packed with people, and the bathroom was closed! So, I decided that I would finish my run at home. I ran 2.3 miles at the park, and 1.7 at home.
For dinner we went to eat at our favorite Mexican place. We got there an hour before they close, but they were already closed for some weird reason. So, we drove around until we found another one to eat at. We ordered a Pollo Loco to share. I love all the onions! We also ordered some cheese dip. And, somehow I managed to get this in my hair too! Seriously! Two nights in a row! I think I need to start eating with a bib, or at least keeping my hair pulled back.
This morning we got up and I rode around with Jeremy to look at jobs he is starting or finishing this week. It is really nice out, and I am planning on a long walk later in the evening. I did a some abs and arms this afternoon.
I decided to take a rest day from running. I am looking at maybe doing a race on the 4th. I haven’t decided yet and I’m not sure which distance, but I want to go run one of the courses early this week and see how I do before I make a decision. I’ve kind of taken a little break from really pushing myself since my last half in April. My foot was hurting and I’ve just been taking it slow and easy. So, I’m not in the best running shape right now. But, I may do it just for fun and not worry about a time. We’ll see.
