The Best Week of The Year

Hey Guys! Thanks for joining me as I host this week’s Weekly Wrap!  I’m so excited to host this week while Holly and Tricia are taking some much needed time off this summer!  If you’re new here, I’m so happy that you came by!  I hope you take some time to check out the link up and meet some new bloggers!

You may be wondering about my title and what makes this the best week of the year.  This week was my birthday week and I enjoyed single day!

Monday morning I slept a little longer than usual.  We had some family visiting, and we stayed up really late Sunday night.  Once I was up and ready, we went to eat.  We went to an Italian place in town.  Since I am not much of a pasta eater, I ordered a house salad with grilled chicken and house dressing.  It’s a tomato basil vinaigrette.   Plus, after all the junk I ate this weekend, I wanted to get back on track with eating right. That chicken was on point!  It was so flavorful and not dry at all.

After lunch, we did some grocery shopping.  I tried to do the Wal-Mart pick up, where you order what you need on the app, and then go into the store and pick it up.  But, it wouldn’t let me order any fruits, vegetables, or meats.  So I went to Aldi and got all of my food for the week.

I was super hungry after shopping, so I had an apple with chocolate PB2 and some Spark

Then I decided to do an Insanity workout.  I don’t know why I torture myself with that, but I do.  I wasn’t planning on running today because it was so hot, and I just didn’t feel like it.  But, when it cooled off some I took Jake on a walk and it wasn’t too bad, so I thought why not.  I ran 2 miles and was drenched!

Dinner tonight was some ground turkey and roasted asparagus.  I had some strawberries for dessert.

Tuesday morning I got up early so I could beat the heat.  I had a banana with chocolate PB2 and some orange Spark before my run.

I headed to the park with the intention of running 5 miles, but that didn’t happen.  It was super humid and I was having a hard time breathing.

I stopped at my car to get a drink, and I decided that I’d had enough.

I went home and took Jake on a mile run.

Lunch was a smoothie.  This was one of my pre-made packets and it had spinach, mango, pineapple, and half of a banana.  I added some almond milk and chia seeds.

Later in the afternoon I went to my parent’s to hang out in their pool.  It was 90 degrees and the perfect day for relaxing in the pool!

When I got home, Jeremy and I went to work in the garden.  I have some veggies that are starting to grow and I’m excited!

Jake and Jessie walked around together while we worked.

Dinner was leftover ground turkey and asparagus.  Wednesday morning I was up early to get some work done.  I also had some errands to run in town.  When I got back home, I had some Spark and Catalyst.

I had ground turkey, peppers, carrots, and hummus for lunch.

Then I got busy working out.  I turned up my music loud and worked hard.

I started with some weights and then did this killer ab workout!  I’m not going to lie, I struggled after the second round.  I had to rest for a few seconds in between each exercise.  My abs were on fire!  (I didn’t do the run…)

I was feeling it when I got done!  I picked my first squash today!  I can’t wait to cook it!

Dinner tonight was an omelet with spinach, bell peppers, and a sprinkle of cheese, and fruit on the side.

We stayed up late watching the Yankees play.  Jake went to bed though.  🙂

Thursday morning came too early.  This was supposed to be the hottest day so far this year, so I got up really early to beat the heat.  I knew as soon as I woke up that it was going to be a bad run.  Do you ever have those days?  I was achy, tired, and I wanted nothing more than to sleep for a few more hours.  Today was my birthday and I kept thinking I should just sleep in!  But, I knew I would regret it if I didn’t at least go out and try.  I had some Spark and headed out to walk for a little bit first to help me wake up.  It was already super hot and I was miserable after the first half mile of walking.  Once the Spark kicked in, I started running and struggled through almost 5 miles.  I really thought about giving up after the first mile because it was soooo hot.  I finally had to quit and I chugged a bottle of water when I got home.  Then I planted myself in front of the fan on the floor until I cooled off.

After lunch, I headed to my parent’s to lay in the pool for a couple of hours  It was sooo hot and I loved it!

Then I ran home, got ready, and Jeremy and I headed back over there for dinner.

And, as I mentioned in my last post, cats love Jeremy! LOL And, he hates them!  As soon as he sat down, the cat climbed in his lap and curled up! 🙂

Knowing how much I love the beach, my mom had a beach themed party for me and it was so cute!

She made this cute little centerpiece and the cat kept trying to steal the umbrellas!

I asked to do hot dogs because I knew it would be quick and easy.  My mom and grandma set out quite the spread!  We had hot dogs, cheddarwursts, hot links, and I had my dad grill me some turkey dogs.  They also had some juicy blueberries that I could not stop eating!

My plate! I love cheetos!

After we ate, my mom brought out the cake.  It was huge and heavy!!  It was the biggest cake I’ve ever had!

It seriously had to weigh at least 10 pounds!  It was strawberry with strawberry cream cheese icing and it was AMAZING!  I savored every bite!  It was so worth all the calories!

Then I got to open my presents! I got a new Nutri Bullet for my smoothies! My blender is trying to quit on me.  It was a great day!

I decided to sleep in a little Friday morning.  I was really tired and needed it, and I knew that it was going to be a late night.  I slept until 9:45 and got up and spent an hour and a half in my “gym“.  I got in a good workout before we got ready and left town.  We met some friends in Oklahoma City and went to a Dodgers game.

Before the game, we ate at the Bricktown Brewery.  Jeremy and I shared a club sandwich, which was really good!  It had turkey, ham, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and a chipolte aioli.

The game was a lot of fun.  It was super hot!  But we sat in the shade the whole time.  When we first got there our seats were in the sun, so we sat up on the terrace until the sun went down.  Our seats were in the second row right by first base!

After the game, they had a fireworks display and it was awesome!

We decided to come on home so we could sleep in on Saturday morning!

I had planned on running Saturday, but on the way home I was checking the weather and we were under a heat advisory all day.  It said that the heat index was going to make the temperatures between 106-112.  So, I did a leg circuit and a Fitness Blender cardio video.

Saturday night, Jeremy and I went to eat Mexican.  We shared some enchiladas and a taco.

Happy Father’s Day today!  I had lunch with my parents, grandparents, and niece.  I made my dad some salsa for Father’s Day.  I hope you like it!

Happy Father’s Day to my running partner and the best dad there is!

I hope you check out all the links below and meet some new people!  Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

I love sleeping in! LOL We did have a busy week! This next week will be a lot calmer and if the heat is still as bad, I’m planning on sleeping in and running at night. We’ll see how that goes!

Happy birthday! I was reading this week that running in severe heat and humidity is as much of a mental battle as physical because it sucks so much! 90 is HOT!

I can see how it would be mental! As soon as I start feeling the heat my head is screaming at me to quit!! I love 90 degree weather as long as I’m in the pool, otherwise I need my AC. 🙂

The bad thing about being done with halfs for a while is now I have to reign in my eating!

Animals always seem to know how to go right to the ones who are scared/allergic. It’s usually because they’re the ones not getting all in their business!

Thank you! LOL I can usually keep my eating under control when I’m not doing a half! It’s when I’m doing all that extra running that I am so hungry all the time! I think it’s hilarious that the cats always go straight to Jeremy! I think they do it on purpose! 🙂

Thanks for hosting the weekly wrap this week and…HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It looks like you had an action-packed and fun week!

That’s so weird about the Walmart pick-up not letting you order any fresh produce or meat. That’s awesome that you have an Aldi’s! I love that supermarket but the nearest one is over an hour away so I just go to my local Stop & Shop and Trader Joe’s.

I love that your dad runs with you! I wish my dad could run but he has bad feet. I’m hoping to get him to walk a 5K one day!

I love Aldi’s! They have such great produce! I just wanted to try the Walmart pick up to save some time. I wish we had a Trader Joe’s near us. The closest one is two hours away. I love running with my dad! It’s so fun to spend that time together! I hope you get to do a 5k with your dad sometime!

What do you think of Aldi overall? We will have one opening up near us later this fall and I’ve never shopped there before. It will be replacing a Safeway.

I love Aldi! They have really good produce and their prices are awesome! I still have to go to Walmart for some things but I love Aldi! We get all of our produce, meat, deli meat, cheese, milk, eggs, and bread there. I did notice that once they came to town Walmart added more produce, but their prices went up too. You should definitely try Aldi!

Thank you! I was really pumped about that Nutribullet! My blender just isn’t cutting it anymore when I make smoothies. It takes forever because the blades won’t blend up anything frozen, and it starts smelling like the motor is burning. So, it was definitely time for a new one!

It sounds like a wonderful birthday week! Your Mom makes some seriously good looking cakes. The beach theme was perfect too. In this heat, nothing beat floating around in a pool. Thanks! I drink the Spark about 10 minutes before I am going to run. But, I’ve had it up to an hour before and it is still working. Once I drink it, it kicks in really fast and lasts about 4-5 hours.
