Life, Food, and Fitness Lately

Hey Everyone!  How was your week?  Mine was pretty great!  I had a good week of workouts.  I did a killer leg circuit on Thursday and my legs were still sore on Saturday!  My runs this week were okay.  I had a couple of bad ones, but that happens.  You just have to try again!  Here’s what I have been up to this week.

I didn’t do a meal prep this week, so I grabbed some salads at the grocery store.

I started Monday morning with some yogurt and green tea.  Lunch was the Fiesta salad.  It’s definitely my favorite!  After work today I had a few errands to run, and then I headed home and did a full body circuit.  I held a plank for 3:05:24! Later in the evening when it cooled off some, I took Jake for a walk and we visited Jessie.

Then I went for a 3 mile run.  I usually try to get my runs done early in the day, because when I don’t I have a hard time winding down afterwards.  I was wide awake until after 11!  I had so much energy.

Tuesday morning I was up early and had to be at work earlier than normal.  I had yogurt and green tea again.  Today’s lunch was the chicken Caesar salad.  It’s pretty good too.  I had a really long day today and by the time I got home I was completely worn out.  I had planned on a run, but there was just no way.  I took Jake on a walk and Jessie watched us.  I don’t think she likes being away from us.

Jeremy was home early so I fixed us a big breakfast for dinner.  I fixed eggs, toast, sausage, and bacon.

I was in bed and asleep before 10!

Wednesday I had breakfast at work.  Someone was retiring and several people brought breakfasts foods.  I had some eggs and a made from scratch biscuit.  There was also sausage, gravy, sausage balls, muffins, and chocolate gravy.  I remember eating chocolate gravy as a kid and I loved it.  But, I didn’t have any.  Lunch today was a cranberry walnut salad.  This one is just okay.  I don’t eat the feta and the dressing is really strong.

After work, I took Jake on a walk and of course he had to roll in the dirt.

Later in the evening I headed out for 3 miles and when I was finished, I did an ab circuit.

Thursday morning I got to sleep in a little bit.  I had a meeting at 9:30, and didn’t have to be at work till then.  I took full advantage of the extra 2 hours of sleep!  The person I was meeting with never showed up.  That was the only reason I had to go to work so it was a little annoying.  But, that just meant that I had the rest of the day off!  I headed home around 10:30 and had some Spark and a smoothie.  My smoothie had frozen peaches, a half of a frozen banana, and Bob’s Red Mill vanilla protein powder.

Around 1:00 I headed out for a run.  It was overcast so I didn’t think it was too hot.  It wasn’t at first, but by mile 2 I started feeling it and I was definitely not hydrated enough.  I had to stop just under three miles and walk home.  I started getting dizzy and I knew better than to try and keep going.  As soon as I got home, I guzzled a bottle of water and laid in the floor with Jake.  He wasn’t worried.

After I cooled off I felt so much better.  I did a leg circuit and some abs.  My legs were on fire when I got done!

Thursday night it started storming.  The wind was blowing so hard and the rain sounded like it was going to break the windows!  I was in the middle of fixing some tacos and our power went out.  I tried to cover up all the food and keep it warm.  Luckily the power was only out for about 10 minutes and I was able to finish dinner without it going out again.

It stormed all night and all day on Friday.  I was planning on getting up early and running before it got hot, but when I woke up it was still storming.  I went back to sleep and slept for a couple more hours.  When I got up it was still storming, so I got busy cleaning the house.  I fixed a smoothie for lunch.  This one had peaches, blueberries, and vanilla protein powder.

Around 2, it stopped storming and raining so I headed out for a run.  It was soooo humid!

I ran a slow 3 miles and then took Jake for a one mile run.

I had to stop and take a picture of this little guy.  He was watching me and let me get super close.

After that I did a Fitness Blender ab workout and I stretched my legs.  They were pretty sore!

Later in the afternoon and all through the evening it stormed a lot!!  We had been planning on going out to eat and trying out a new restaurant in town, but we didn’t want to get out in it.  We lost power again for a little while and I didn’t want to start cooking something and lose power again, so it was super late before we got to eat dinner.  Around 10, my friend who lives down the road, called and asked if we could try to make it to her house to help her.  Their house was flooding and they were trying to push all the water out. We hopped in the truck and were trying to figure out how to get down there (water was rushing over the bridge by her house) when she called back and said she didn’t need our help anymore.  So, since we were out, we drove up to Domino’s and picked up a pizza.

By the time the storms were over, we got 6 inches of rain in just a few hours.  Our backyard looked like a lake!

Saturday I headed out for a run and barely made it a quarter mile before I had to stop to catch my breath.  The pollen count was so high!  After a half mile, I had to go home and use my inhaler.  Then I ran and walked 2 miles and that was all I could handle.  I could not breathe!  I also had to dodge all the debris from the storms.  And, I almost stepped on a snake!  It looked just like a tree limb.  I did not get a picture of that, I ran the other way!

I went home and did a circuit to finish up my workout.  After that I had a smoothie with mango, peach, and vanilla protein powder.

Jeremy had some work to do, and when he got home we went to see Jessie.  She was happy to see us!  Jake had to play in her water trough and then roll in the dirt!

Dinner tonight was Applebee’s.  Seriously, my least favorite place to eat.  But, we had a gift card.  I tried a new meal, and it was actually really good.  I had chicken, shrimp, steamed broccoli, and fire roasted veggies.  I really enjoyed it, and I ate every bit of it!

Today was a rest day!  My muscles needed it!  But, I got roped into helping Jeremy with one of his remodel jobs.  The people were out of town and it had to be done before they got back.  I was the clean up crew and had to vacuum and mop the floors.  It was easy and only took us about an hour to finish it.   My lunch today was a black bean burger and some carrots.

I spent the rest of today working on some freelance stuff.  I needed a pick me up to help me concentrate!  I had a Spark to help me!

I took a break and went and picked some cilantro from the garden.  This is first bunch of it I have gotten, and I am so excited to use it.  We’re having Mexican for dinner all week!

Jake watched me the whole time!  🙂

I’m planning on enjoying a night in with Jeremy tonight!  I hope you all have a great week!

Have you ever tried chocolate gravy?

What is your favorite smoothie combo?

For this weekly update I’m linking up with Holly of HoHo Runs and Tricia of MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

Jake just seems like the best dog! What a wonderful companion.

Looks like you had a great week in spite of that crazy weather! We’ve had a ton of rain here too, but not the storms like you’ve been getting. Glad you were able to get all your runs in!

    Have a great week!

Does it count that I’m having fajitas tomorrow? That cilantro looks great! I need fresh cilantro this weekend for a marinade I’m making for Memorial Day.

I love fajitas! I could probably eat those several times a week! I planted another cilantro plant yesterday so I would have more! 🙂

I’ve been enjoying black bean burgers from Mugshots near me. They are a lot better than I thought they would be, in fact I’ve ordered them as take out for lunch twice!
My friend also drinks Spark and she gave me the new pineapple coconut flavor and man idk if it did anything but it sure tasted good!

The pineapple coconut is soooo good! I can always tell a huge difference when I drink Spark. It’s almost immediate, and I have so much energy! I love black bean burgers. I think I could eat them every day.

I just put cilantro on my shopping list. Wish I had place to grow my own. My favorite smoothies are usually strawberries, blueberries and raspberries with Greek yogurt, spinach, BRM protein powder and chia seeds or hemp hearts.

I have never put raspberries in a smoothie. I don’t know why?? I just added them to my shopping list!! This is the first time I have been successful growing herbs. I’m going to try some more since these made it!

Oh, that squirrel!!!! I have such a weakness for little furry critters (we’ve had a lot of hamsters over the years LOL). I sometime make breakfast for dinner, too 😉

I love breakfast for dinner! I had hamsters when I was a kid. What we thought were two females ended up having a ton of babies. Lol! They were really cute!

That is an awesom running shot of you on Friday. How did you do That? What camera or phone do you have?

chocolate gravy…? ummm, no. I am from the southwest though and we have mole sauce. So maybe that’s kind of close to your chocolate gravy?

usually I am not very creative with smoothies. I take buttermilk (karnemelk here), frozen berries, a frozen banana, maybe some spinach and if I have it on hand a bit of chocolate protein powder. I haven’t made a smoothie in ages… I think I may have just become inspired 😀

Oh your post reminded me to get back into making smoothies… I usually stop making them during the winter months and then I somehow forget how good they are… 🙂
