One More Week To Go

Hey guys!  I hope you are all enjoying some beautiful weather!  It’s sunny and 70 today and I spent a lot of time outside walking today! I have exactly one week till my half marathon, and I’m still nursing a sore foot.  I’m going to really take it easy this week and pray that it holds up for the race.  I’m getting really excited to run it!

I did not do a meal prep post this week because my lunch was pretty underwhelming.  I wasn’t impressed by it at all. It sounded good, but it really wasn’t.  I made a salad with kale, spinach, shredded carrots, chopped zucchini, and poached chicken.  I used Olive Garden’s Italian dressing.  I also had a small fruit salad with strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi.  By Wednesday I ended up just picking off the chicken and eating it and by Thursday I only ate the fruit.  It was just blah.  The chicken needed more seasoning, and the salad needed some more flavors.  I had a turkey sandwich for lunch on Friday.

Happy Marathon Monday!  Did anyone else watch the Boston Marathon?!  I seriously want to run it someday.  I watched the live coverage all day and it was so cool to see all the people coming across the finish line!

I started today with some Dannon Light and Fit yogurt.  Around 1:30 something hit me and I was soooo tired.  I could barely keep my eyes open.  I had some Spark and a granola bar to help wake me up.  When I got home, I did an ab circuit from @lafitara.  Then I fixed another snack – I was so hungry!  I had an apple with PB2.

My foot was really hurting.  I tried to stay off of it all day.  I ended the day with 8,000 steps, which is much less than normal.  After my workout, I propped my foot up and iced.  Then, I spent the rest of the night in compression socks.

Jeremy’s aunt and uncle had come to visit on Sunday evening, so we didn’t eat the steaks until Monday.  Since they were here, Jeremy went and got a couple more and we fixed steak, baked potatoes (sweet potato for me), and garlic bread for everyone.  I’m not as big of a steak eater as Jeremy is.  He could eat it every day – me, maybe twice a year.  But, it was pretty good!

Today’s breakfast was yogurt with a banana and a Special K cereal.

Lunch was the same and I had an apple and some Spark for a snack.  When I got home from work, I took Jake on a walk and we went to see Jessie.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to run today, so I did an arm and ab circuit.  I started the 12 week Sweat with Kayla program today.  The arm circuit definitely had me feeling sore as soon as it was over.

I liked how the circuits are set up.  You do four moves for 7 minutes, and then you do four different moves for another 7 minutes.  Then you repeat both.  They are quick and effective workouts!
After that workout, I added in a lower body workout from @lafitara.  I was pretty worn out!  And, I was starving!  Since Jeremy was gone umpiring, I fixed some scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and toast.

After work, I had thought about trying to run a little today.  I really wanted to!  The weather was so beautiful!  But, after taking Jake for a walk I decided that it might not be the best idea.  My foot was still hurting.  So, instead I did an ab circuit and some stretching.

Then Jake and I sat on the porch with Max for a while.  Jeremy was home early, but we were both too tired to cook anything.  I had a frozen roasted veggie flatbread.  This was the first time I had tried it, but I will definitely buy another one.  It had more veggies on it than anything else, which I liked.  I ate about a 1/3 of it and saved the rest for Thursday.

We watched the latest Sweet Home Oklahoma episode and I was asleep before 10!

Breakfast today was the same as yesterday, and lunch was some left over flat bread and the chicken off my salad.  I stayed off my feet all day and kept my foot propped up.  When I got home, I headed out for a light run.  I actually did not want to run today at all.  It was starting to get stormy, and I had a million excuses.  My foot wasn’t hurting, but I kept telling myself that if I ran, it might start hurting.  I also had a headache, and I just really wanted to take a nap.  But, I didn’t listen to any of those.

I had some Spark and I ran 3 miles on my own, and then 1.5 miles with Jake.  I guess because it was cool he ran the entire time.

It’s usually days when I don’t want to run that I have the best runs.

After my run, I iced my foot and it just felt a little sore.  When I came home I had a box on the porch!  I love when I get more Spark

Since Jeremy was home early, I made a taco casserole for him.  It’s full of all the greasy good stuff!  LOL  It’s a recipe from Campbell’s and he loves it.  I didn’t eat very much because it is so greasy and it makes my stomach hurt.  But, what I did eat was good!

I was so excited that it was Friday!  It couldn’t have come fast enough!  I started today with some yogurt and strawberries.  They were frozen so there was some juice from when they thawed.  It was better than the banana!

It was storming all day, so it made it a very sleepy day.   I actually went home after work and took a nap.  I had been saying all week that I was going to do that, but I never did.  I actually hate taking naps because then I can’t go to sleep at night.  But, I needed one.  I was sleeping hard for a couple of hours and then my neighbor rang the doorbell and woke me up.  She brought me some eggs from her chickens!  I’m really excited about this.  She said they are making a ton and she’ll start bringing me some.  You guys know how much I love eggs!

I laid back down on the couch and watched TV until Jeremy came in and was ready to go eat.  We went to Chili’s because he wanted to try their new smokehouse dinner.   I ordered a side salad and I ate the chicken breast that came on his plate.  It was sooooo delicious!  It wasn’t dry at all.

Waaaaay too much cheese!

I slept in a little today.  I don’t know why I was so tired the last couple of days, but I finally caught up on some sleep.  I actually got up around 6:45 and was wide awake.  I was going to go ahead and get ready to go run, but when I took Jake out the wind was blowing so hard that it was blowing our chairs off the porch.  I decided that there was no way that I was going to run in that and that I’d just run on Sunday.  I went back to bed and slept till ten!  Jeremy took Jake out and came back in and told me that the wind was not blowing much.  So, I got up and had some Spark, eggs, and toast.  I waited about an hour and a half and headed out.  The wind was still blowing like crazy!  I called Jeremy and he laughed and said he didn’t think it was too bad until he left, but he figured I was already getting ready so he didn’t call.  It was overcast and cold!  It’s been in the upper 70’s, but the storm brought a cold front in and it was 48!

Even though the wind was blowing like 100 mph, I went and ran.  It wasn’t too bad except in certain places when it felt like it was blowing me off the road.  I ran 7 miles and went home and iced my foot.  That was my last long run before the race!  I’m ready!!

Later in the afternoon, Jeremy and I went and got our grocery shopping done, and then we headed to dinner.  We went to surprise, surprise – our taco joint.  I ordered two chicken fajita tacos and one fish taco.  I love their tacos!

Jeremy tried some kind of steak – it came with a “special” sauce and cheese melted on top.  I tried a bite and it was okay.  He wasn’t too impressed with it though.  He did take a big bite of the habanero that came on my plate.

Ok, he didn’t really.  He started to and then chickened out.  It’s sooooo hot!  He has tried it before and told me it wasn’t hot, so I took a big bite and about cried!  I won’t do that again!

When we got home, we laid in the floor with Jake forever.  He was not ready to go to bed and he just wanted to play! When we tried to go to bed, he sat at the foot of our bed whining until we got back in the floor with him. He’s pretty spoiled!

I had a busy day today!  We slept in!  As soon as I got up, I took Jake for a walk and he got to see his friend.

Then, I got roped in to helping Jeremy on a job.  There’s a vineyard right down the road from us, and they just built a new barn for wedding receptions.  They have a wedding scheduled there next Saturday and it’s not done yet!  I helped for a few hours to clean the floor and get it ready to be sealed tomorrow.

Then I walked home and got ready to go to my best friend’s daughter’s birthday for the rest of the afternoon.  She was turning 13 and was having a skating party.  It was pretty fun!

I LOVE skating and I really wanted to.  But, I figured there was a good chance that I would fall down and hurt myself a week before the race.  One of my friend’s brother in law’s is running it too so we were the only two that didn’t skate.  My friend and I laughed the entire time.  Everyone was so funny skating!  I told her we’re going to have to plan a night to go skating with just the adults!

I just got home and I’m about to start on my meal prep for the week.  I’m definitely doing something better than last week!  I think I’m going to make some tuna salad.  I’ve been craving that and it sounds really good.  So, I’ll eat that for lunch until it’s gone.  It will probably only last a couple of days. And then I have some ground turkey to fix.

I hope you all have a great week!!

For this weekly update I’m linking up with Holly of HoHo Runs and Tricia of MissSippiPiddlin for their Weekly Wrap.

I remember skating parties, and I was so bad. I don’t think wheels or skates on my feet is a good idea. I never pursued that sport because I fell so much.

LOL I don’t know how good I would be on the roller skates, but I can rock some roller blades!

Definitely sounds like you are ready and I would have also sat out the skating, given there is only a week to go before race day! Good luck with training this week and the race – I will be back for the Race Recap!

There was so much cheese on that salad!!
Your taco joint always sounds so good.
I shouldn’t have read this while hungry and needing groceries cause now I’m starving!

LOL I hate buying groceries when I’m hungry! I always end up with way too much stuff that I didn’t need.

How delightful to get fresh eggs from your neighbor! I love eggs and cheese. I skated all the time as a kid. I’ve only skated a few times (with my kids) as an adult. Having an adult skating party would be a great idea. I hope your foot doesn’t give you any problems during the race. If it is still hurting after the race, please have it checked. OK? You know me and my feet…better safe than sorry. Thanks for linking, Tara! Good luck at the race.
