My Life This Week

Hey guys!  How has your week been?  I hope you are all getting some nice spring weather.  We’ve had great temperatures all week which has made it nice to be outside!  This week was pretty low-key.   I didn’t do anything exciting.  But, it was nice to have some quiet and be able to be at home and get some things done!  

My breakfasts all week were either fruit and yogurt or a granola bar.  Lunches were all the same. They were ground turkey taco salads and fruit.  You can see my meal prep for this week here.  

Monday

Today was a really quiet day!  After work, I took Jake for a walk and then I did a strength training circuit workout.  I started with arms, then abs, and then legs.  I felt a little sore when I got done!  (which is a good thing!) Here’s what I did. 

 

After this, I took Jake on another walk to see Jessie. 

When we got back, I had some work to do and then I relaxed until Jeremy got home.  I had a grilled cheese for dinner –I wasn’t very hungry and nothing else sounded good.  We ended up staying up till midnight watching How I Met Your Mother reruns. 

Tuesday

I woke up at 5 am this morning.  Thank you internal alarm clock for a 4:30 or 5:00 am wakeup call everyday!  I laid in bed until 5:45 trying to get just “5 more minutes” of sleep!  I stayed up way too late.  I finally got up and did a short ab workout and a couple of one minute planks.  Then I got ready for my day. 

When I got home from work, I took Jake for a quick walk.  I got home around 4, and there was a storm that was supposed to be coming in between 5-6, and I wanted to get a run in before that. 

I had some Spark and O2 Gold before I walked Jake. 

When I headed out on my run, it was overcast and a little breezy.  Within the first 5 minutes, the wind picked up and the sky turned almost black.  It was coming in fast.  But, I figured as long as it wasn’t lightening or pouring on me I would be fine.  It did make me run faster to try and finish quickly.  I got three miles in and headed home.

(Yes I always wear sunglasses even if it’s not sunny.  I had a four wheeler wreck several years ago and almost lost my vision.  My eyes are super sensitive to light.)  

And then the storm never came.  Within the next hour, the wind died down and the sun was shining again.  You’ve got to love Oklahoma weather. 

Later in the evening, we went down to visit our neighbors, the doctor and his wife who helped us when Jeremy cut his head open, and took them a small gift to show our appreciation.  They wanted us to come in, so we were there visiting for awhile. 

When we got back, I fixed dinner.  We had chicken fajitas.  I found the seasoned meat at Aldi, and it turned out really good!  It was juicy and really flavorful!

Wednesday

We stayed up late again Tuesday night, so Wednesday morning came early!  I have got to start going to bed earlier.  It’s just when it stays light outside until 8 or after, we are outside.  By the time we come in and get ready to eat dinner it’s usually after 9, and then we wind down by watching tv. 

After work today, I headed to the park.  I ran a little over 3 miles and then did 8 hill sprints up a steep hill.  When I got done with the hill I had to run a half mile back to my car. 

After that I went home and did an ab workout.  I was worn out!  I had some fruit to help me refuel.  

Jake went to the groomer’s today and was sleepy when he got home.  He slept all afternoon.  His groomer has a little boy that plays with Jake all day while he’s there.  It wears him out!

I had eggs, turkey sausage, and toast for dinner. 

I had some work to do, and that took up most of my evening. 

Thursday

 Today at work the break room was full of food!  It looked sooooo good, but I actually had some self control and didn’t eat any of it.   I really wanted a cookie, and a piece of apple pie, or some peach cobbler. So that was a little victory! 

After work I took Jake for a walk.  It was so pretty out! 

I am really enjoying this spring weather!

  When we got back, we sat on the porch with Max (the cat).  He crawled in my lap and curled up and went to sleep. 

He’s so sweet, but he’s making me itchy!  I guess I’m allergic to him.  🙁  My mom has two cats and one of them makes my eyes swell up and itch and I’ll get itchy red spots on my body,  but the other one can rub all over my face and it does nothing to me….it’s weird.

Later in the afternoon I did a short ab workout.  I decided not to run because my body felt so tired and I took a much needed rest day.   I was super tired all day and really needed some sleep.  I almost took a nap when I got home, but I hate taking naps because then I have a hard time sleeping at night.

So, I laid in the recliner and got caught up on some shows on the DVR until Jeremy came home.  Then I moved to the couch and stayed there until I got up to fix dinner.  We had sandwiches.  And I was asleep by 9:30.  

Friday

I woke up feeling much more energized today!  I started my day with 20 minutes of strength training.  After work I took Jake on a long walk and then I did a circuit workout and some yoga. 

His ball is lighting up.

Friday night was really low key.  Jeremy got home around 7, and we were both super tired so we decided to stay in.  We ordered Rib Crib to go and ran to pick it up.  I had some smoked chicken and a side salad. 

Unfortunately, Jeremy was missing half of his order.  So, he called them and they said that they couldn’t refund it, but they would give us a gift certificate for the next time we came in. 

I think we were in bed by 10! 

Saturday

I slept a little longer than usual today.  I was just so tired!  I had some Spark,O2 Gold,  eggs, and toast before my run. 

I waited about an hour and a half and then headed to the park.  It was really humid and I knew when I started that it was going to be a tough one.  My legs were sore – I think this is the first time I have ever had DOMS.  I hadn’t been sore at all until I started trying to run.  I guess from running the hill on Wednesday??  I don’t know but they really hurt once I started going.  I also had a tough time breathing with the humidity and pollen.  

I had planned on running 13, but I had to stop early.  

The same Cadillac that was there last weekend that threw the cigarette at me was there again today.  Seriously, don’t people have anything better to do than drive in circles on a Saturday?  LOL  I’m sure they’re saying the same thing about me running in circles.  Today they had all the windows down so I could see that it was two girls.  The first time they came past me, they swerved a little towards me so I had to jump off in the ditch.  The second time they came by, they sped up as they were coming towards me and didn’t move over, forcing me off in the ditch again.  And they just laughed.  I don’t understand why people act like that!  Just leave me alone! 

After my run I came home and had a snack.  It was Dannon Fit and Active greek yogurt, with a banana and some strawberries on top.

Then I took Jake on a walk and he got to play with his friend.  

And, I cleaned my house and then worked on some writing. I have been doing some freelance writing and it’s taken up most of my evenings this week.  I had to ice my knee while I did that.  This is the first time during this training that it has swelled up. 🙁

When Jeremy got home, we went over to see Jessie.  She was waiting for me to bring her some sugar! (She doesn’t like to have her picture taken.  She tries to eat my phone!)

We went home and got ready to go out to dinner.  As soon as we were ready to walk out the door, the sky opened up and it started pouring!  We waited about an hour for it to quit before we left.  We decided to go to Rib Crib again to use our gift certificate.  I’m not sure we will be going back there anytime soon. 

We started with some chips and salsa.  The first chip I picked up had a huge black hair on it.  We kept trying to get our waitress’s attention, but she never would come to the table.  Finally another waiter stopped and asked if we needed anything.  We showed him the chip and he said he’d get us some more.  Our waitress came back out and said they were out of chips, so they’d have to make us some more.  She was ready to take our order, and I tried to order chicken, but they were out..and they were out of turkey also.  So, Jeremy and I shared a dinner and I ate some brisket, sausage, and a side salad. 

Our waitress never came back to our table.  We were her only table!  When I ran out of water, Jeremy had to get up and take her my glass…twice!  That’s a little annoying!

We got home just before another storm hit. 

Sunday

It has rained all day!  I didn’t want to get out of bed!  But Jake did, bright and early, and  he wanted to stay outside with Max.  

We left and did our grocery shopping and I am now getting ready to do my meal prep for the week.  And, later I’m going to do a circuit workout and stretch A LOT!

This evening I’ve got some writing to do.  I’m glad it’s raining so I don’t feel bad about being parked in front of the computer for most of the day!

Before I go – I have a question for all my runner friends out there.  I have been having some foot pain.  It’s only on the tops of my feet, and it hurts all the time.  Well, it will hurt for a few days, and then it will go away for a little while.  I can’t wear any kind of sock that has the compression band on it.  I’ve also started noticing it this week when I have on my running shoes.  Right under where they tie is starting to hurt.  They aren’t tied tight at all, so it’s not really putting any pressure there.  Does anyone have any idea what’s going on, or any suggestions how to make it stop??

    WoW – busy week for you! Jake is adorable for sure! I miss our fur baby. As far as your foot – I’ve never had any foot troubles, but it almost sounds like a metatarsal reaction/fracture. Or early sort of stress fracture/reaction. I would definitely take a few days off running and see if it goes away. Is it both feet? or just one? Different area – but when I had my stress fracture and stress reaction ( 2 different events ) my injuries hurt when I touched them too!

      Oh wow! That scares me! It’s the tops of both feet…It’s worse on my right though. I’ll definitely keep a close eye on them! Mine don’t hurt when I tough them, they just seem to hurt when they have pressure on them – like tight socks. But they are aching now without anything on them. Jake is such a mess. He brings us so much joy!

      Thank you! I love circuit workouts! I always feel like I get a good workout in. I’m hoping that some rest will help my feet. Although I’m not liking that very much. I really wanted to run today.

    OK- now I’m hungry! Jake makes me miss my fur baby Riley… she was my dogter, haha. I agree with Gina about the stress fracture/reaction 🙁 I’d get it checked out for sure. Better to catch that early. Have a great week and good luck with the foot! Sending healing dust your way!

      Thank you so much! I’m hoping it’s nothing serious. I’ve been icing and elevating tonight so I’m hoping maybe that will help! And, I totally get you. Jake is like our kid! He’s super spoiled. LOL

    Hi Tara! I’m not sure if you know but foot pain has been my running companion for the last 12 months or so. It became so painful that I had to cancel my March 5th Marathon. Make sure you take care of that pain right away. Is it on the same leg where you experience knee swelling? Sometimes it could be as easy as getting new shoes, or maybe extra icing. If it persists I would see a podiatrist! Foot pain is terrible – especially for runners!

    Thats terrible that those people were driving around and forcing you in to that ditch. Also its odd that they were women. Like younger? So weird!

      Yes they were younger. Maybe in their early 20’s… It is weird that they were there two weekends in a row. And, it’s not like they don’t have room to just go around me a little bit. I’m not taking up that much of the road.

    Does Jake get shaved when he goes to the groomer? I shave Baylee once in the summer but I think she needs it more often.

      We have never shaved Jake. Our groomer recommended it, but the she threw in there that it might not all grow back so we decided against it. I know he would be so much cooler in the summer if we would, but we were afraid he might look funny. LOL But, now he has that huge patch from his surgery and it’s growing slowly…

    Is there a way you can report those girls? Take a picture of the plate and send it to the police?

    I had not foot pain, but when I wore ASICS it felt like the knot of my laces would bruise the top of my foot when I wore the shoes. I wear New Balance now, and don’t have that problem.

      I’m kind of wondering if it’s my shoes. I have new shoes and they are the same ones that I have always worn, but they are the new edition. It’s just weird that it’s on both feet in the same place. I almost did report those girls. There is a police officer who drives around every weekend and I almost stopped him. If they are there this coming weekend acting like that I will stop him.

    You had a great week of workouts. If I were you I’d go see a podiatrist. The pain you are having sounds like my metatarsal fractures. Hopefully, it’s just a stress reaction or bruising– but better safe than sorry! Whatever it turns out to be, I hope it is short lived. I can’t believe how mean the girls are in the Cadillac. I wonder why they are hanging around the park anyway? Thanks for linking, Tara!

      After how bad my feet hurt at work today I’m really thinking about seeing a dr. I hope it’s nothing serious, but they have never hurt like this or for this long. 🙁 Those girls need to get a life!

    I also agree about the stress fracture/reaction. It would be worth having it checked out 🙁

    You’ve had some awful restaurant service this week.

    I’m sorry those people are being mean to you. If they do it again, I might be moved to call the police. I mean, at the end of the day, it’s targeted harassment, you know? They certainly can’t treat people like that 🙁

      I’m crossing my fingers that it’s nothing serious. But this is Day 4 of the pain. 🙁. I think if those girls mess with me again I will call the police.

    What’s wrong with people (aka the two girls in the Cadillac?)? If you see them again, I would definitely report their license plate to the police… I mean, they’re endangering you by forcing you off the road.

    I had foot pain before when I had my shoes tied too tightly… but then it would go away again pretty quickly. I am just wondering since you said that you had pain on both tops of your feet.

    Take care of your foot! I have struggled on and off with plantar fasciitis, so I know foot pain all too well. The pictures of Jake make me miss my yellow lab Gus. 🙁
