Hey Everyone! I hope you have had a great first week of spring! We had some record breaking temps this week. It was in the 90’s at the beginning of the week and then stayed in the upper 80’s the rest of the time. It was so nice! We were able to sit outside after dark and enjoy the warm weather. The evenings offered the perfect running weather. And, I love warm mornings. I am so ready for summer!

Happy First Day of Spring! Our first day of spring felt like summer! I’m not complaining because summer is my favorite time of year! When I took Jake out this morning, it was already almost 70 degrees and it was beautiful! I ended up sitting on the porch for a little while (petting the cat) and watching the sun come up.
I started today with a Slim and green tea. I am really liking these Slim’s. They really do help with my appetite and with cravings. I had it at 6 am and I wasn’t hungry until 10. For breakfast, I had a GNC granola bar.
Lunch was tilapia, broccoli, and sweet potatoes. I also had some blueberries, strawberries, and half of a small apple. The strawberries make me think of summer too! They were super ripe and sweet!
After work, I had a Spark and a granola bar and took Jake for a walk. It was so pretty, I just wanted to be outside. So I decided to go for a run. I didn’t realize how hot it really was, and my body was not ready for that. By the time I started my run it was 90 degrees. I ended up running (with lots of walk breaks) 4 miles. I got way too hot, and started feeling a little dizzy so I headed home to cool off and rehydrate. I had some pineapple for a snack when I got back.
After the sun went down, Jeremy and I sat on the porch with Jake until almost dark. It felt just like a summer night!
I fixed breakfast for dinner. We had some Blue and Gold sausage to eat, so I made eggs, biscuits, sausage, and gravy. That is one thing that I hardly ever indulge in, but I love it! It’s just comfort food!
After dinner we watched TV and played with Jake. The cat came back to visit, so we sat on the porch for a little while so Jake could see it. They are doing better at getting along. Jake is starting to be calmer, and the cat seems to not mind him so much anymore.
Today started great <–that’s sarcasm. It actually wasn’t that bad, just a little annoying. I woke up at 3 am and could not go back to sleep! I was wide awake! I finally got up at 5:00 since I knew I wouldn’t be getting any more sleep anyways. Since I got up early, I got the dishwasher unloaded, a load of laundry folded and put up, I walked Jake around the backyard for 20 minutes, and I did 15 minute ab workout! I was pretty productive before 7! I started my day with some Slim and a green tea. I wasn’t hungry until I got to work and I was planning on having a shake for breakfast. And then this happened…..
Yes, that’s my shake mix all over the floor! It was also all over my lap and my feet! I’m not sure how it happened! I was about to pour it in my bottle and the next thing I know it’s everywhere! I had to go hunt down a vacuum and clean it up. Luckily I keep a drawer full of granola bars, so I still had some breakfast.
It was 90 degrees again today! When I got off work, I had to stop at Wal-mart to pick up a couple of things. (It never fails – I always make a list, and then I always forget something! Good thing I live close.)
I parked way out away from everyone, and as I was getting out of my car an old man was pulling in right next to me. When I came out to get in my car, he was loading his groceries. He started talking to me and had to tell me a joke. He told me a very inappropriate joke and he thought it was just hilarious. Do people just reach a certain age where they don’t have a filter anymore, or just don’t care what they say? I was like yeah that’s a good one…and the whole time I’m thinking weirdo! He did make me laugh though because he was laughing so hard at himself.
When I got home I did some strength training and when it cooled off a little I took Jake for a walk.
Dinner was breakfast tacos. Jeremy had breakfast burritos. LOL They were the same thing. I just ate corn tortillas and he had flour tortillas. We had the rest of our Blue and Gold sausage, eggs, and a little cheese.
Then I baked some banana bread. Jeremy has been asking me for some, so I finally had some bananas left over to make it. I usually eat them all before they turn brown. It was really good!
I actually got to have breakfast today! I didn’t drop my shake mix!
We had a busy day today! After I got off work, we met with our accountant to get our taxes done. (Don’t you love being an adult?) Then I headed home to get ready for a run. When I got home, Jake was waiting for me to take him for a walk. I put him outside while I changed and fixed some Spark. When I went to get him, the cat was sitting at the back door with him wanting some food. I guess they are slowly becoming friends. I fed the cat and then Jake and I headed out. It was overcast and cool and was the perfect weather for running!
When we got done with our run, I was putting Jake back in the house when I saw Jessie rearing up on the fence. She was running and bucking and I was afraid she was going to get caught on the fence. I ran over there to see what was wrong and the neighbor’s dog was jumping on the fence barking at her. And the neighbor was just standing on her porch watching! It makes me so mad!!
I got Jessie out of her pen and calmed her down. Once I got her calm, I headed out on a run. I got in 4 miles. The weather was absolutely perfect!
Dinner was sandwiches. They had wheat bread, turkey, turkey pepperonis, Swiss cheese, and some Italian dressing.
We had a problem with our cable today and the tv’s wouldn’t work. But, the internet did so we watched Netflix. Jeremy found some movie with Will Ferrel and we were up till midnight watching it. It was called Everything Must Go. It was just okay. It wasn’t his normal funny stuff, it was more dramatic. But, I kept watching to see what would happen at the end.
Today was the busiest day of the week! I literally did not sit down until almost 9 pm – and I woke up at 5!! I lived on Spark today!!
I had to leave work early to get home and meet the cable guy. It took him an hour, because he kept talking – he was telling me his whole life story. He finally got our cable boxes working again!
When he left, I went outside to get Jake. He was sitting at the back door with the cat! Jeremy said they had hung out on the porch together all morning. He left to go umpire around 11 and they were still sitting out there together.
The cat never left. It stayed on the porch all afternoon and evening, and was still there Friday morning. I think it’s found a new home. 🙂
Before Jake’s walk, I had some Spark and some fuel for my run. I tried something new, and it worked out okay. It was very tasty too!
I took Jake for a walk and we went to see Jessie. Then, I went for a run. The wind was blowing 19 mph! It was ridiculous! I ran 7 miles and it was tough! How much more of a workout does running into the wind give you?!
I saw this rabbit on my run. It thought it was hiding from me.
After my run, I did an ab workout and then stretched my legs for awhile. I wasn’t very hungry but I knew I needed to eat something so I had some fruit and yogurt.
At 8:45 I sat down to answer some emails and finally started trying to relax. But, that lasted about 20 minutes. When Jeremy’s gone Jake makes it hard to relax. He won’t ever calm down. He is constantly waiting for Jeremy to get home and every little sound he hears he goes running to the door and whining to go out. So, we ended up sitting on the porch with the cat until Jeremy got home. Actually Jake rolled in the dirt!
When Jeremy got home around 10, I headed straight to bed and was out!
I was tired today! I actually hit snooze and didn’t get up until 6. I was hungry when I woke up since I didn’t eat much Thursday night. I had some yogurt with strawberries, bananas, and Special K cereal on top.
By lunch time I was super hungry. Lunch was the same as the rest of the week – and some yummy fruit!
I got off work at 3, and was home by 3:15. I had the WORST headache! All I wanted to do was go to bed. But, Jake wanted to go for a walk, and I had a little bit of work to finish up.
So, I did that and was asleep by 6:00. Jeremy came home around 7:30, I think, and I woke up long enough to see him come in. I slept until he woke me up at 9:30 to eat. We ordered a pizza because I did not feel like cooking anything. I ate and went right back to bed.
Tylenol was doing nothing for my head! I woke up at 2:30 am and my head was still pounding. I tried to get up to go to the bathroom and I about hit the floor I was so dizzy. It’s been a long time since I have had a migraine, but I’m pretty sure that’s what this was.
I slept until 10:30 this morning. I was able to sleep off my headache! I got up and got ready to run. I had scrambled eggs, toast, yogurt, and a banana for my pre-run meal.
I waited about an hour and 45 minutes before I headed out so I could make sure that my stomach was settled. The weather was perfect! It was overcast, about 58 degrees, and a little breezy. I listened to a couple of Sword and Scale podcasts (episodes 79 & 80) to pass the time. They were about the Craigslist killer and were very interesting.
At mile 9, I stopped to get a drink, use my inhaler, and fuel up for the rest of my run. I started to get tired around mile 13, so I stopped after 14.
I had 18 on my marathon training schedule, but I didn’t do it. Even though this was a pretty solid run, it did make up my mind about which race I want to do. I was thinking about it during my run and I kept thinking that I would still need to add at least 7 more miles to my long runs before the actual race, and I’ve only got 4 weeks to do that. I could probably do it, but realistically, the race would be extremely tough because I wouldn’t be 100 percent ready. So, I don’t want to do it unless I am confident that I’m ready for it…and I’m not. And, to be honest, at this point I don’t know if I’m even going to do the half at this particular race. I may just find another one.
Anyways, during my run, some jerk came by and slowed down. They weren’t moving over so I had to jump in the grass. They slowed down, rolled their window half way down, and threw a cigarette at me! Seriously, what is wrong with people?! It made me so mad!
After my run, I went home and took Jake for a walk.
He wanted to run, but I was too tired! Then I fixed me protein smoothie and cleaned my house. My smoothie had one scoop of Bob’s Red Mill protein powder, frozen strawberries, a frozen banana, blueberries, and almond milk.
I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing! And Jake and I went to see Jessie.
When Jeremy got home, we got ready to go out to dinner. We went to our favorite taco joint. I had my usual – the fajita chicken plate. It has rice, chicken, onions, and cheese on the side. I ate every bit of the chicken and onions, but left most of the rice. It was good, I just didn’t want it.
We were in bed by 10!
We spent most of the day running errands.
We went out to our hunting land so Jeremy could work on a feeder.
And we went grocery shopping. We went to three different stores because I was hunting cilantro. Everyone was out! What is up with that?
When we got home, I meal prepped for the week.
Then I took Jake for a walk. There is a storm headed our way, so I took him before it hit and he has to stay inside. He played with the neighbor’s dog.
Once we got back, I did some yoga (I needed a good stretch!) and about 30 minutes of strength training.
I’m planning on relaxing the rest of the night and maybe watching a movie!
OK well I had this all ready around 6 and was about to hit publish when a warning went off on my phone and tv for a tornado. My mom immediately called and said the sirens were going off in town. We threw on some shoes and ran to our neighbor’s cellar. My father-in-law was coming out at the same time we were and he said that the tornado was on the ground just a couple miles from us. (right near my parents and grandparents). A friend in another town was texting me updates of where the storm was. We stayed in the cellar until she gave us the all clear.
Thankfully everyone is okay. We haven’t heard anything about any damage yet, but they news did say that there were no injuries. We’re back home now watching the news. There is another storm headed our way and it’s supposed to be severe and there could possibly be another tornado. I’ll be keeping my shoes next to the bed tonight! I really hate tornado weather!
Now, I’m about to go fix us some italian sub sandwiches for dinner and hopefully be able to relax without having to go to the cellar again.
