Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hey Friends!!  How was your week?  Mine was busy, busy, busy!  I felt like I was on the go all week.  But, I knew that was coming!  This is my favorite time of the year, and this year I was ready for the season.  If you missed it this week, I posted some tips that have helped me reduce my stress during the holidays this year.  You can read about them here.

I had a pretty busy day today.  I listened to Pentatonix Christmas music all day and that helped to pass the time.  After work I had a hair appointment.  I covered up the blonde in my hair.  It’s okay when it lightens up like that in the summer, but I really like dark.  So, I finally fixed it.  Usually I have it fixed back to my natural color in August, so I’m a little behind this year.  After my appointment I stopped at Wal-Mart to pick up a gift for a baby shower at work.  That place is a madhouse this time of year!

By the time I got home, it was almost dark so I knew I wouldn’t have time to run.  I took Jake on a walk instead.  I made him run for most of it.  He wasn’t feeling it though.  He wanted to stop and sniff everything, and I just kept dragging him along so we could get home before dark.  Of course when I want to run he doesn’t, and when I don’t feel like running, he won’t slow down!  I guess that’s good because he keeps me active.

We finished right at dark and went to feed Jessie.  She has a new bale of hay and is more interested in that.  She is eating it weird though.  She’s eating a hole in it and sticking her head down in it.

When we got home, I did a circuit workout and 150 squats.  Holy Cow!  My legs were burning!   When I finally sat down I decided to paint my nails.  I’m not very good at it and it takes me forever!!

Jake watched me paint my nails. He pouts when Jeremy’s gone.

I went to bed early because I knew Tuesday was going to be a loooooooong day!

Today was super busy!! I was swamped at work and was on the go all day.  I got up a few minutes early so I could get my squats for the Squat Away May challenge done.  I knew I wouldn’t have any other time during the day to do it.  I had about a 15 minute lunch, which was a lean cuisine.

As soon as I could get away, I left and met Jeremy and rode with him to his games.  The games were an hour and a half away and he was driving by himself so I went to keep him company.  But that meant getting home really late.  I blasted Christmas music and sang along all the way there.  I’m sure Jeremy loved that!  When we got to the games and I tried to walk up the bleachers, I realized just how sore my legs were from all of the squats on Monday.  I seriously had a hard time going up the stairs!

On the way home I turned the Christmas music back on so we would stay awake.  By the time we got home it was around 11.  I was so tired that I couldn’t even keep my eyes open.  I went straight to bed and crashed.  I was just about asleep when I suddenly got sick.  My stomach was growling and I realized that I hadn’t eaten anything since lunch!  Does anyone else get sick when they don’t eat??  I got up and ate some oatmeal and went back to bed.  I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow!

Since it was after midnight before I went to bed Tuesday night, 5:30 came way early.  I was in desperate need of some energy to get me going this morning, so I started today with some Spark.  Breakfast and lunch were the usual.

After work I headed out for a run.  It was 33 degrees, so I bundled up!!  I ran 4.5 miles and I never got cold.

After I ran, Jeremy and I went to Wal-mart to get everything we needed for our big family Christmas on Saturday.  We were in there forever!  I saw this.  Seriously!  Disgusting!!

Then we had a quiet night at home watching Christmas movies!

I was running behind today and did not get any breakfast.  But, that was okay because I had a lunch meeting at Santa Fe Steakhouse.  I don’t really like to eat here, but I didn’t get to pick.  I had a sweet potato and a side salad.

After work, Jeremy and I went to check on Jessie.  She wouldn’t eat her oats Wednesday and she was acting funny.  She just wanted to stand with her face against me and she wouldn’t even play with Jake.  My father-in-law called the vet and he said that he couldn’t come out until Friday but that if she was up and walking around and drinking water then she was probably ok.  That “probably” didn’t help my worrying.

After we checked on her, I went and did a little shopping.  I needed some new clothes to wear to family Christmas.  I ended up with a couple of pairs of new jeans.  They were buy one get one $5!  You can’t beat that!   And a new hoodie.  I didn’t find any new shirts to wear, but I was happy with my jeans.

Jeremy got home fairly early on Thursday night and we stayed up late watching tv.  I always do on Thursdays.  I guess I think I can make it through Friday on very little sleep.

Today was a whirlwind!  Breakfast was oatmeal and lunch was a lean cuisine.

The vet came out this morning and checked Jessie out.  He said she was in perfect health!  That was great news!  He said that she was probably filling up on hay because she’s never had a bale of hay to eat before.

Work actually went by pretty quickly and I couldn’t wait to get home!  I was going with Jeremy to his games, but they were only 10 minutes away from our house so I had plenty of time before we had to leave.  The weather was pretty nice, so I headed out for a quick run.  I actually got really hot and sweaty.  If the cold wind wouldn’t have been blowing so hard, it would have been perfect!  I ran a quick 3 miles before heading home to shower and get ready to go.

The games were pretty boring, but they did go quickly.

They were really good!

When we got home, I had to get busy baking for family Christmas on Saturday.  I made a sopapilla cheesecake,

cherry cream cheese pie,

and a salad with spinach, almond, and cranberries.  I got some poppyseed dressing and also some balsamic dressing to go with it.

Since I had to bake, we were up until around 12:45.  But, I was so excited about Christmas the next day that I was wide awake the next morning!  I’ll fill you in tomorrow on our first family Christmas of the season! I hope you all have a great week!

Hope you had a fun family Christmas! That cherry cheesecake and salad look so yummy!!

And, I couldn’t agree more… a cheeseburger donut? OMG, no!

We had a blast! The cheesecake was delicious and I’m still enjoying the salad!

You did have a busy week! Funny, my kids ate Krispy Kreme hamburgers at the fair one year and loved them. Apparently, there is a market for donut cheeseburgers. LOL. How fun to have already enjoyed one family Christmas gathering. We just squeeze everything into two days. It would be nice to spread it out for a change. I learned years ago to eat something about every 3 hours. I don’t feel well if I get really hungry, so I can sympathize about that. I hope the horse is still enjoying his wonderful hay! Thanks for linking, Tara.

That’s crazy that there is a market for that food! Maybe it’s good, but it sounds really gross to me! 🙂 We always have one big family Christmas with all of the extended family the week before Christmas. It does help to spread it out! I’ve gotten to where I’m eating 90 calorie granola bars or sucking on a Werther’s when I start feeling sick and that really helps a lot. Jessie is loving her hay! She keeps her head stuck in the middle of it all day long.

Sopapilla cheesecake? Never heard of such a thing!

Glad Jessie is ok. Bandit hasn’t been feeling the runs lately either — probably because of the snow & cold (and I’m chuckling at your face mask for 33 — that would be warm in these parts!).

Sopapilla cheesecake is amazing! I love it so much, so I don’t make it but once or twice a year. It’s a Pillsbury recipe. It’s made with crescent rolls, cream cheese, cinnamon, and sugar! LOL I’m a wimp when it comes to running in the cold. I do what I have to do to get out there and run.

Is Jessie a rescue? I don’t know if you mentioned it or I missed the post. My mom has a friend with two rescue horses, and she spoils them rotten.
I can’t imagine a donut hamburger. Ick! I’ve seen some strange food combos, but I think that wins.

LOL That’s what I thought about the donut hamburger too! Jessie is kind of a rescue. She belonged to a couple, but they didn’t keep her at their house. For some reason, she stayed in another town at their friend’s house and she was bullied by the other horses. She was underweight when we got her. The owner told us that the other horses didn’t let her eat much. She is really happy now and loves attention!! I can’t stand the thought of her not getting to eat. 🙁 So she is spoiled!

Ew that cheeseburger donut thing is disgusting looking! I have never seen that before! :-O
Hope you enjoy your Christmas festivities! 😀

This week has been so busy for me, as well and it will only get busier!! How do we keep up? It’s so hard to fit in a run during this time of year! Congrats on getting it done though!
I’m happy Jessie is okay! What a beautiful horse!
I wished I could join in in those 33 degrees runs – so much more pleasant than heat and humidity running here in South Florida:)
Have a Wonderful Christmas Tara! Enjoy and keep running!

Thanks!! We actually had a 60 degree day today and it was so nice to run in! I just don’t like the humidity! Merry Christmas to you!

Busy in deed! Seeing your horse reminds me all this fluctuation in weather really has us on high alert watching the horses. They can colic so fast in this mess and it scares the crap out of us. We’ve lost one great horse to it a few years back and another one we sold also came down with it. We knew the owners. Hope your family Christmas went well!

That scares me! I will definitely keep a close eye on her. Christmas was great! I’m looking forward to this weekend! Merry Christmas to you!
