Running, Sleeping, Repeating – Weekend Recap

Hi guys!  Happy Tuesday!  I’m a little late getting this weekend recap out.  I have a good excuse though.  I caught a stomach bug, so I’ve been in bed.  But, I’m feeling better today, so I’m up and getting some work done!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  I had a great one, and am already looking forward to this coming weekend!  I seriously live for the weekends! I got some sleep, got in a couple of runs, and we had some good food!  What can be better than that?  I also finally felt like my back was doing better.  I was able to run further than I have in a couple of weeks with not a lot of pain.  And, the weather finally cooled off and it feels like fall!  It’s gorgeous outside and all I want to do is sit outside!

Friday afternoon after my run we headed out of town to Jeremy’s basketball games.

I took a book to read and was glad I did.  The first game was a huge blowout so it was pretty boring.  The boy’s game was boring during the first half but it got pretty good at the end.  I always sit up towards the top in a corner by myself.  The gym wasn’t even half full, and I had an entire section to myself, until the second quarter of the girl’s game.  Again, the gym was not even half full, so there were plenty of other places to sit.  A group of I’m guessing jr. high kids came and sat all around me. I was sitting one row down from the top, and that entire section was empty.  They filled in above me and on either side of me.  They kept leaning over and across me to show each other their phones.  And the stuff they were talking about shocked me!  How Rude!  I got up and moved very quickly!

After the games, we went home and went to bed early because Jeremy had to get up early Saturday for some more games.

Saturday I slept in a little bit and then got up and headed out for a run.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous!  It was sunny, but it was a little chilly when I started so I wore long sleeves, but by the time I was done I was burning up.  I got in 7 miles!

After running, we went hunting.  Last time I went my feeder was broken so I didn’t see any deer.  This time, I saw 8!  They were too far away for me to get a shot with my bow.

I know some people don’t like hunting, but we really do eat the meat and our freezer is empty.  I also refuse to shoot any deer that have babies with them.

I was afraid I was going to scare them off because I felt like I was fighting wasps the entire time.  A huge group of wasps has taken up residence in our blind.  It’s like the more nests we knock down, the more they keep building.  I try to ignore them, but it’s kind of hard when they are swarming all around my head and I’m scared I’m going to get stung.  At one point, there were 10 in there flying around me, and I really thought I was having a panic attack!  I killed three, but that just seemed to make the rest of them mad!  I hate wasps!!  I texted Jeremy and told him I was getting out, but the wasps were guarding the door so I couldn’t!

We left when it got dark, and headed home to clean up so we could go eat.  You guessed it, we went to our favorite taco place again!  I ordered the chicken plate with the cheese on the side.  The waiter said that they made it with cheese, so he had them redo it.  And when they redid it, they forgot my onions, but that’s okay because it was still good!

Then we went to Wal-Mart to get some groceries.  Just a typical Saturday night!  When we were checking out, we saw this girl.

She didn’t have on shoes!  It was cold!  Jeremy felt bad for her and asked me if I thought we should buy her some shoes.  But, she was dressed nice and the guy she was with was dressed nice, so I don’t know why she wasn’t wearing shoes.  By the time we got home, I was ready for bed, but we ended up staying up until after midnight.

Sunday morning, we got up early and headed out of town.  Jeremy’s dad bought a new horse!  I’m claiming her as mine!

She is perfect!  She is just the right size for me, and she is so gentle.  She just follows you around and doesn’t get all excited.

I rode her bareback when we picked her up and then again when we got her home.  After I walked her all around the yard to show her her new home, we saddled her up and took turns riding her again.  Jake loved her!  And she liked him.

She would just stand there while he ran all under her and licked her face.  If he stood under her, she would put her face down on his back.  I think Jake was a little jealous of the attention she was getting. I went home around 2:30 and went back to bed.  I could not keep my eyes open.  I slept until around 6 when Jeremy got home from hunting.  Then I laid on the couch until I went back to bed at 9.  I was starting to think I was coming down with something because I had no appetite and I just wanted to sleep.  Turns out I did have something.  But, I’m feeling a little better now and my appetite is coming back so that’s a good sign!

I hope you all have a great week!

Questions for you:

1.  What’s a good name for a female horse?

2.  Are you scared of bugs?

3.  What is a typical weekend like for you?

My husband went hunting for the first time last year and he ate soooo much venison for months! We made this pot roast with the loins and it made the house smell absolutely incredible. Also- you are living the literal dream of having a pony (even though it’s not technically yours, we will all just agree it is, haha). I honestly have never thought about horse names- but fun question! She has a little diamond shaped white patch– so maybe Diamond? Let us know what you guys name her! I hate bugs more of an annoyance than scared, but yuck. And I don’t think weekends look all that typical ever hahahah. But we are guaranteed to eat out a lot and go to church Sunday usually! Love reading your posts always, Tara <3

I am going to have to try to make pot roast with the loins. That sounds really really good! We usually just make steaks and jerky. The backstrap makes a really good steak! I actually thought about Diamond! We haven’t agreed on a name yet. We’re still talking about it. I’m so glad you love reading my posts! That just made my day! 🙂 xo

    Hi Tara,

Another great blog! The horse is beautiful and I think a good name would be Belle. I would have been out of that hunting stand if I had seen those wasp, I have been stung by one and it was not fun. Maybe you guys can spray for them, but then I don’t know if that would scare the deer off. My weekends are usually very busy, doing housework, and going out to listen to live music. Hope you are feeling better soon!

    Thanks for sharing!! Happy running!!

I love the name Belle! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie. Jeremy said he would spray the wasp and we’d just hope it won’t scare the deer off. I love listening to live music. In my town, there is nowhere to go for that. Thank you for reading! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
