Hi Guys! I hope you all had a great week! Mine was really good. I had a little unexpected, but very much needed break during the middle of the week and it was awesome! I didn’t get a lot of running in, but I did better. My back is finally starting to feel better! It’s not 100%, but it’s really close. Maybe 96%! So, I took more rest days than run days this week just to help it feel better. I did do a lot of yoga and that really helped my back. I didn’t really feel like I trained that much this week, but I did make sure to meet my Pile on the Miles goal every day. (Walk or run 30 minutes each day) I’ll share with you what I did do.
Monday – I was so happy to be able to drive to work in the daylight today! I started today with some pumpkin pie yogurt and then later in the morning I had a Nutri-Grain bar. For lunch I had some chicken and steamed broccoli.
After work I really wanted to go for a run. But, my back felt sore from Sunday’s run, so I decided to just go for a long walk instead. That killed me! The weather was perfect and I really wanted to run! But, I did the responsible thing and rested. Jake didn’t mind though, he loves walking!
Tuesday – Today I had a granola bar for breakfast with a side of Spark. I did not sleep very well Monday night and I needed a little boost to get going. Today was going to be a crazy busy day! I knew I wouldn’t have time to walk or run after work, so I used my break time to walk and get in my 30 minutes. After work, I stopped on my way home to vote. I figured there would be a line but there wasn’t! I was in and out quickly.
When I got home, I had time to change and then Jeremy and I left to head out of town to his basketball games. I wasn’t going to go since I was so tired, but one of my best friends was going to be there watching her son and I didn’t want to miss a chance to see her. So, I had another Spark and went with him. The games went pretty smooth, but I didn’t pay that much attention because we ended up talking most of the time. We also had some company to entertain too. My friend’s sister and brother in law came and brought their kids. They have a baby (I think around 6-7 months) and then four other little girls that were pretty entertaining!
Around 9:00, I got a call that our city had something happen to the water line and we were on a boil order, so my work was closed the next day. I was super excited!! About being off work! I got in on a group message with some friends and they were saying that everywhere was already sold out of cases and gallons of water, so before we left that town we stopped to buy some water.
Since I didn’t have to get up early, I stayed up as late reading a book and watching the election coverage.
Wednesday – I slept in a little bit today and then got up, had some Spark, and headed out for a run. I ran 5 miles and it finally felt like fall! The air was cool, but the sun was out and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. But, the entire time I was running I kept hearing thunder. It was weird!
After my run, I did yoga and really stretched my back. Then I did a short ab workout. I was careful with the moves I did so I didn’t hurt my back. I tried to do some squats, but that sent a sharp pain straight up and down my right leg, so I didn’t do those!
I really enjoyed my day off! It was so nice to not have anywhere to be or anything to do. I went over to my mom’s to visit with her and my grandma. We got Thanksgiving all planned out. It really snuck up on me this year. Jeremy was asking me about it on Sunday night and then Monday morning my aunt texted to see what she needed to bring. I seriously hadn’t even thought about it and didn’t realize that it is two weeks away! And I’m hosting!
Jeremy had late games Wednesday night, so I hung out with Jake.
We went for a walk right before dark and then we played with his new toys while I got caught up on the Big Bang Theory. I finally got a call that since the boil order was still on, that I was off work again on Thursday! So excited! So, Jeremy and I stayed up until after midnight watching tv.
Thursday – I slept until 10:45 today! I never sleep that late! But, I am such a night owl and I probably need that sleep. (Actually, I probably need to just go to bed earlier.) I got up and had some oatmeal and then Jake and I headed out on a walk/run. He wanted to run, I wanted to walk. But, I ran with him. We went a mile and then we stopped to pet the horse before going back home.
I really needed to go back out for a run, but I just could not make myself. My back was still sore, and I wanted to take it easy because it was finally starting to feel better.
I got ready and went to get my hair done. I tried something new this time and I love it! My hair girl is awesome! She is like a mind reader. I can tell her what I like and what I don’t like, and she always gets it perfect!
When I got done with my hair, I was going to go for a walk. But, it was already dark by the time I got home. I hate that it gets dark so early now. So, I curled up on the couch with a blanket and a book and read until Jeremy got home.
For dinner I fixed up some chicken tacos. I love these tacos! They are the BEST!
They are so easy and delicious! All I did was put some chicken breasts in the crock pot, throw in a packet of taco seasoning, and cover it with chicken broth.
I let it cook for 6 hours on low and then the chicken just falls apart. I tried some habanero and jalapeno cheese with mine and topped it with cilantro, and they were really good! Better than good!
There wasn’t anything on tv, so I read a book while Jeremy flipped through different shows. I tried to go to bed around 10:30 since I had to get up early on Friday morning, but I was still wide awake at 12:45. Once I did go to sleep, I was pretty restless through the whole night. But, I was wide awake at 5:15 and ready to get up.
Friday – Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you to all of you that have or are serving our country! After work Friday I had a little bit of time to get in a quick run before we left for Jeremy’s games. So, I ran a really quick 3 miles.
Saturday – Today I set out with a goal of 9 in mind. I didn’t want to push too much because of my back, but I also wanted to see what I could do. It’s been a couple of weeks since I ran 10, so I really just wanted to see how far I could go comfortably. I didn’t make it 9, but I did make 7. I actually probably should have stopped at 5, but I kept pushing. Around 5 miles, my back started hurting. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t comfortable either. I could feel pains down the whole right side of my body, and it was making my leg hurt. I took several walk breaks and it would stop, and then I could run a little more. It wasn’t a sharp pain and when I finally felt a sharp pain, I stopped and went home.
It was a little frustrating, but I also think it’s a good sign that my back is getting better. I haven’t been able to run much in two weeks, so to go 7 before it actually hurt was an improvement! When I got home, I made sure to stretch my back and my legs really good!
After that we had a busy day, and you will have to come back tomorrow to see what we did! 🙂
Sunday – I took a 40 minute walk today. I knew I needed to rest my back, so Jake and I went for a walk. The weather was beautiful and he was running around like a nut!
