Pile on the Miles 2016

Hi Everyone!  Happy November 1st!  Can you believe it’s already November?  Where has this year gone?  I’m excited today because number 1 it’s Tuesday, which means I’m linking up with Marcia to talk about all things running, and number 2, it’s the first day of the 2016 Pile on the Miles Challenge.

What is it, you ask?  Pile on the Miles is a challenge that is supposed to keep you from piling on the pounds during the holiday season.  Instead, you will pile on the miles.  It’s not a competition, and you choose your own goal.  It can be anything – like the number of miles you want to run in November, how many workouts you want to complete in a week, the number of minutes you want to spend working out each day or week – really anything at all that will keep you active.  It really doesn’t even have to be about running.

The main purpose of this challenge is to get you active!  I’m joining Monica at Run Eat Repeat for my second year in the challenge.  After last year, I can see how it helps you to stay accountable once you set a goal and you have to check in everyday.

The challenge will run from November 1 (today) – November 28.  It’s free and all done online.  Anyone in the world can join.  All you have to do is go to RunEatRepeat and sign up and then go back everyday and leave a comment on her daily post telling what you did to reach your goal.  There are daily prizes!!

But, even if you don’t meet it one day, you can still leave a comment telling why you didn’t and still be entered to win a prize.  It’s all about helping each other stay accountable.

Here’s how it works:

First you have to sign up.  You can do that here.

Next you have to set your goal.  Some examples are:  “I will run 4 times a week”, “I will go to a yoga class twice a week”, “I will walk 5 day a week”, I will run on the treadmill for 30 minutes each day”.  Make your goal something that you enjoy and have fun with it!

Then you must go check in every day at RunEatRepeat by leaving a comment.  And like I said before, even if you miss a day because you’re sick, or maybe you just wanted to take a day off.  You can still leave a comment and be entered into the daily drawing.

Use #RERmiles on social media to share your progress and help keep others motivated!

I hope that you will join me and encourage all of your friends and family to do it too.  It’s a lot of fun and it really does help you stay accountable and motivated during the holiday season.  I know I need the accountability.  I get caught up in the season and love eating all the good foods!  But, this challenge is a way to make sure I stay healthy!

My goal for this challenge is to walk or run for at least 30 minutes every day.  I challenge you to join me in the 2016 Pile on the Miles challenge and hold me accountable.  Let’s stay active together through this holiday season!  Who’s with me?!

Love the idea of this. I think this is the worse time of the year when a few pounds creep up because of all the holiday festivities. Always good to hold yourself accountable.
