Halfway There

Hi Guys!  I hope you all had a great week and are having a great weekend!  It feels like forever since I’ve posted.  I guess it’s just been a week, but it was a busy week so it feels a lot longer!  We have had an awesome weekend and went on a little getaway.  I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow in my weekend recap.  This week was sort of a rest week on my running schedule, which worked out very well since we were out of town.  It was seriously just a coincidence but it worked out perfectly.

I just finished week 6, which means that I’m halfway finished with training.  I am feeling pretty good about it!  I’m about to start getting into double digit miles, and I’m excited!  I still have not actually registered, so I guess I need to get on that!

Here’s a look at my week.

Monday – This week did not start off very well.  When I woke up today, I had the worst headache.  It had to have been a migraine, although I have not had one like this in years.  It started about 2:00 on Sunday afternoon and Tylenol did nothing for it.  Monday morning, my head was throbbing so much that my vision was moving.  I went about my day as normal anyways.  I had a multigrain 100 calorie English muffin for breakfast.  I tried a bite of the new tiramisu flavor of yogurt and did not like it.  It tasted like black coffee.  Those of you that like coffee may really like it, but I didn’t.

I made it through the morning okay.  My headache would have really sharp pains or throbs for a little while and then it be a dull pain that was tolerable.  For lunch I had grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, and a spinach salad.

I didn’t have much of an appetite by then.  After work, I headed over to my mom’s.  I had 50 minutes of cross training to do, and I really wanted to try and ignore the headache and do it.  I was planning on riding her bike around her neighborhood and the park but when we went to get it out of the garage, her tires were flat.  That actually worked out because by the time I got home I really felt awful!  The headache was making my stomach hurt and I knew there was no way I could have ridden the bike.  I went in and laid on the couch for a few hours.  Finally around 6, it stopped hurting so bad and I could actually sit up without feeling sick.  Jake wouldn’t stop whining at me, so I took him for a walk.

By 7:30, it was totally gone and I felt back to normal.  I fixed some chicken tacos for dinner and then we watched tv and played with Jake until we went to bed.

Tuesday – I started today off with an English muffin for breakfast and I had the same lunch as I did on Monday.  After work, I headed home to get ready to run.  I turned on a podcast and zoned out for four miles.  It was the perfect running weather, which made for a great run!

Then I rode my bike for a couple of miles and took Jake for a walk.  I just wanted to be outside! Jeremy picked okra and wanted me to fry him some for dinner.  While he picked okra, I visited with my horse!

After dark, we watched the new Married at First Sight, ate dinner, and played with Jake.

Wednesday – Today was just a regular day.  I had the same breakfast and lunch as the days before.  At breakfast I tried the Pumpkin Pie yogurt and I loved it!  I can’t wait to get some more!

Jake went to the groomer today, and she sent this picture as soon as he was dropped off.

She said he came in and went straight to the chair and he stayed there all day.

I had 6 miles scheduled, but I didn’t do it.  I really have no good reason, other than I just didn’t want to.  Usually I will make myself, and I am always glad when I do.  But, I didn’t even want to do that.  I was really tired and had a lot of stuff I needed to do around the house to get ready for our weekend trip, so I just decided to not run.  Plus, the temps were back up in the 90’s with 75% humidity and extremely high pollen.  So that may have been the deciding factor to not run.  I’m sure I should have at least attempted to run, but I just didn’t want to try and push through when I knew I didn’t feel like it and it was so hot so I knew it would be a bad run anyways.  When it did cool down a little, I took Jake for a walk but it was still really hot.  He only made it a half mile before he was ready to go home.

Jeremy had a meeting and when he got home neither of us were hungry.   I ended up just eating some cereal for dinner.

Thursday – I woke up so tired today.  I didn’t get to bed until almost midnight, and I woke up at 5 (way before my alarm goes off).  I actually did that on Monday and Tuesday as well.  So, I think it was finally catching up with me today.  I started my day off with some Spark and an English muffin.  I had the same lunch again today, but I mixed it together and made a salad.

I was determined to get my run in after work.  Sometimes I think it’s all in my mindset.  I had another Spark and headed out as soon as I could and I got my six miles in.  It was slow because my body was tired, but I did it.  And of course, I felt great about it!

After my run, I spent the evening packing and helping Jeremy get his stuff packed for the weekend!

Friday – We were up and on the road early Friday headed out of town, so I didn’t get any running done.  But, I did get a LOT of walking in!

Saturday – Rest

Sunday – I ran 5 miles and then walked 1 mile.

Make sure you check out my weekend recap tomorrow!  We had a busy and fun weekend!  I hope you have a great week!

We do have to be friends! I love Married at First Sight! We are so addicted to it! You should stock up on the pumpkin yogurt. It’s so good that I could eat it for dessert. And thanks for the encouragement! 🙂

I like the Dannon key lime yogurts, really any key lime Greek yogurts. I’ll mix granola in so it’s like key lime pie a little bit.

I love the key lime flavor too! I didn’t think about mixing granola in it. I will have to do that next time I get some. I love key lime pies!

I always get kind of excited for double digit runs again. I’ll be doing quite a few for quite a few months to come . . .

Sounds like a good week despite the headache & tiredness.

LOL I am the worst at finding a million other things to do instead of running sometimes. I don’t know why I do that because I love my running time. But I seem to get distracted. Thanks for hosting!

    So sorry about your migraine.
Thanks for the honest review of the tiramisu yogurt. I’ve been eyeing that one. I guess I’ll [ass cus I don’t like coffee. I do like the pumpkin flavor one though.

Jake looks as cute as always. Can’t wait to hear about your trip! -M

I hope you’re feeling better. I got a pretty bad bug this week, too. For the first time in years I didn’t run for the last 6 days. You still got some good mileage in for the week though. Almost there! Have a great training week Tara!

You must have had a bad bug to not run for that long!! I hope you’re feeling better!

I like coffee flavor, so I might like the Tiramisu yogurt! Sorry to hear about your migraine. I know you must be excited to be over the halfway hump for your half marathon. Thanks for linking, Tara!

You probably would like that yogurt. I love all their flavors, but that one was just not for me. I am so excited to be halfway through! But, that means it’s coming up fast.
