The Perfect Weekend

Fall came this weekend and all I wanted to do was be outside. The temps dropped from the upper 90s to the lower 70s and it was perfect!  I can’t stand to be cooped up inside when it’s so pretty outside.  We had a pretty low key weekend – just the kind I like!

Friday night we went to our local high school football game. I love football and I love going to the games.  I really just like to people watch!  We got there after it started and the home side was packed!  Luckily my parents had some extra seats next to them.

We were only going to stay until right after half time but we ended up talking to some friends and stayed until there was two minutes left. It was after 10 and we were both tired and hungry. We didn’t want to go sit down at Chili’s or Applebee’s. (The only 2 places still open.) So we went to Taco Bell. I’m not a fan and can’t even tell you the last time I ate there.   But it was late and I didn’t want much. I ordered a chicken bowl. It had chicken, guacamole, black beans, lettuce, sour cream (which was really sour), and cilantro lime rice. The rice was good, but that was about it.  I picked through it and didn’t even eat half of it.  I mainly ate the rice and black beans.  The chicken smelled funny so I was afraid to eat it.  I definitely wouldn’t get it again. I guess that’s what you get with most fast food though.  (Which is why I very rarely eat fast food!)  The ingredients weren’t fresh and it just wasn’t good.

After dinner we went home and played with Jake until he was ready to go to sleep.

Saturday was absolutely perfect!  I got up at 8, and it was raining so I went back to sleep for awhile. When I woke up, I got ready to run. I had the best run I’ve had in a long time! You can read all about my five miles here. After my run, I took Jake for a walk and he played with his friend.  We ended up walking almost a mile and a half. Then we sat on the patio for awhile enjoying the weather. It was 70 degrees at noon!

It was perfect outside and I wanted to stay out there all day. But the pollen count was high so I couldn’t. I did open all the blinds and doors inside though. And Jake stayed out all day while I cleaned my house. Then when Jeremy came home we got ready to go eat.

We went to our favorite taco joint but the only car in the parking lot was the owners. We didn’t know why there wasn’t anyone there and we didn’t want to be the only ones. So we went to our other favorite Mexican place. We ordered some queso fundido for an appetizer.  (I usually fill up on this.)

We also ordered a dinner to share. I ate some of the queso and then I had a couple bites of an enchilada and rice.

This dinner was an experience, and I have not been this mad in a while.  When we sat down, the table across the aisle from us was being extremely loud.  There were four of them and they were just being obnoxious!  At one point, one of the women was seriously standing straight up in the booth waving for their waitress.   She was bending over the barrier and saying hi to random people eating on the other side of it.  They were so loud – which meant we could hear their entire conversation.  What got me so mad was when the waitress came to bring their food, one of them starts saying that she has cancer and she may not live much longer and is laughing about it.  She continues to say it over and over and is so loud that everyone in there can hear her.  From what she kept saying, I could tell that she was joking and it wasn’t true.  That infuriated me.  That isn’t something to joke about.  I really debated on saying something, but I don’t like confrontation.  But, before I could do it, one of the girls at the table jumped all over her.  The lady kept laughing like it was no big deal.  But, the girl told her that she doesn’t know who in that room might have cancer or be going through that with someone that they love and that it wasn’t funny.  That girl really lit into her, but she didn’t care.  At least she quit saying it though.  For the rest of their meal they were all silent, thankfully!

After dinner we went to Walmart. I like going late at night because it’s not busy and we can get in and out quickly. We got all our groceries for the week so we didn’t have to go on Sunday.  And of course, we always have to walk through the sporting goods section.

When we got home, Jake was ready to play.  And, he was mad at us because we forgot to bring him a new toy!

Sunday morning we got up and I went with Jeremy to our hunting land to finish putting up some stands.  He worked out there all day on Saturday and needed some help finishing up.

It was so pretty out and I agreed.

But, again, I forgot about the pollen count.  We weren’t out there long before I was wheezing and my throat and eyes were scratchy and itchy.  But, I loved being out there so I ignored it.

I climbed up in one of the ladder stands and showed Jeremy which limbs to cut down so we could see out of it.  I’m terrified of heights.  Once I get up in it I’m okay.  But, when I know I’m about to climb down, I start getting panicked and nervous!  I’m harnessed in, so I can’t fall.

We spent a few hours out there before heading back home.  Jeremy decided he was going to mow, so I headed out for a run.  I had 5 miles scheduled, but I did it on Saturday, so I ran the 3 that I had scheduled for Saturday.  I listened to a CaseFile podcast.  It was about a bank robbery and shootout in North Hollywood.  It was really good.  After my 3 miles, I ended up walking until the podcast was over.

The Perfect Weekend

Once I got cleaned up, I prepped all my food for the week.  I cut up strawberries and I decided to make a fruit salad that my mom always made when we were growing up.  It’s my favorite and I could eat an entire bowl of it.  It’s just strawberries, apples, and bananas.  Then I cut up a ton of bell peppers.  I eat these in everything!  And, I cooked some chicken and made salads.

We ended weekend watching football (Okay, Jeremy was watching football and I was playing candy crush)  and playing with Jake.  He gets really loveable right before bed.

We had a great weekend and I’m enjoying these low-key weekends because once baseball playoffs start those will be gone until next summer!  I hope you all had a great weekend and I hope you have a great week!

I talked to my doctor today and I am starting a steroid inhaler tomorrow and a stronger allergy medicine.  We’re hoping that will help me deal with the pollen.  It’s supposed to take a couple of weeks to really start working, so we’ll see.

What did you do this weekend?  Are you ready for fall?

OMG at the lady in the restaurant! I hate when restaurants are loud anyway ( thats why I avoid Texas but with what she was saying and how she was acting, we’ll that was just uncalled for. Glad her friend stepped up and told her so.
I am so jealous of your meal planning for the week. Do the salads that you make on Sunday still stay fresh till Friday?

I hate when people are loud in restaurants!! It’s so rude and it’s so hard to enjoy your dinner! Yes my salads do last! I will add avocado to them each morning. But the spinach and chicken lasts. When I put peppers on them, those usually last a couple of days.

Hopefully the new inhaler and everything will work for you! It sounds like you really did have a relaxing weekend, I love those. This past weekend we took a day trip to a cute little town in MN and Sunday was spent cleaning/relaxing/and trying a new restaurant! Love those kinds of weekends.

I love trying new restaurants! That sounds like a lot of fun going on a day trip to a little town. I wish we had some cute little towns close by so we could explore!

Wow some people are so inconsiderate. You would think they would quiet down in public, but I find people are often their worst in public. Sorry you had such a bad dinner experience because of those people!

I just don’t get how people don’t realize when they are being so loud and rude. But I guess maybe they just don’t care!
