Hi Friends! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I had an awesome one and as always, it was hard to come home and get back to work. We spent our weekend with family at the lake enjoying the last few days of summer. I’m so sad! When I left you, it was Friday evening, and I had just finished running. So, we’ll pick up there!
Friday night after my run, I started feeling a little achy and sick again. I really wanted to just go to bed early and sleep all weekend. But, I didn’t. Jeremy’s umpiring partner that had stayed with us last weekend sent us a gift card to Applebee’s. So, we went there for dinner. Nothing sounded good, and I really had no appetite. So, Jeremy decided to order a bunch of appetizers for us to share. He ordered chips and salsa, a chicken quesadilla, cheese sticks, and he ordered each of us 5 wings. All the really bad for you stuff!
I couldn’t even eat all of my wings, and I love wings! I actually couldn’t eat much at all and the longer we sat there the sicker I felt. I was really worried we weren’t going to get to go to the lake. After dinner, we went home and I went straight to bed.
Saturday morning, I was shaken awake! Literally! We had an earthquake that tied the state’s record for the biggest one ever in our state. (5.6 magnitude!) It hit right before 7, and the whole house was shaking! At first I thought Jeremy was shaking the bed trying to wake me up, but when I woke up enough, I realized that wasn’t what was happening. Jake was scared and came running into the bedroom. It lasted for a minute and everything in the house was rattling! It was insane!
When it was over, we went back to sleep. Shannon had told me that she was going to run and I didn’t have a text from her yet, so I figured I would lay there until she was ready. But, I guess she changed her mind because she never texted and I fell back asleep. When I woke back up, I still didn’t feel great. But, I had three miles scheduled and I really wanted to get four in. I took Jake for a walk first, to help me wake up. I am not a morning runner! I figured out really quickly that the pollen count was still high – extremely high, according to my weather app, and I could not breathe at all! By the time we made it across the street, I was already wheezing. I had to come home for my inhaler.
I was so mad because the weather was absolutely beautiful! It was 72 degrees and I wanted to be outside. But, I knew I would not be able to run. Plus, I still didn’t feel great, so I figured I better not push it. I did about 30 minutes of some light stretching and strength training instead.
After that, we packed up and headed to the lake! As the day went on, I started feeling a lot better!
We got there before everyone came off the water, so we hung out at the house with Jeremy’s aunts and uncles. Once everyone got there, they started dinner. While dinner was being cooked, we played football and F, M, and I hung out in the hammock. It is so relaxing! I would love my own to just lay in and read, but we really have no place to hang it.
For dinner we had grilled barbequed chicken and sausages, roasted okra, and salad.
There’s a few bell peppers under the okra.
Then we celebrated M’s birthday with gifts and little Bundt cakes. I had a white chocolate raspberry cake, and it was phenomenal! It had cream cheese icing and a big raspberry flavor. I wish they were zero calories, I would literally eat one every day!
After the cake and gifts, M and I watched Me Before You. I had wanted to read the book, but not now. I cried so much! It was a really good movie, but it was pretty emotional. Then we all stayed up late talking.
Sunday morning I debated on going for a run, but I was still wheezing, so I decided that I would just rest up and enjoy my weekend and get back to my training schedule after the holiday. Once everyone was up and had eaten breakfast, we all headed to the lake.
We took out the pontoon, ski boat, and jet ski and spent the day out on the water enjoying the sun. They always anchor the pontoon and everyone takes turns going out on the ski boat to play. I just wanted to relax, so I floated on the tubes that were tied to the back of the pontoon and soaked up some sun. When I got hot, I jumped in and floated around in the water. It was a little chilly, but not too bad.
I did ride on the tube with F and she had a blast! She loved bouncing and going over the “bumps”.
We ate lunch on the pontoon. I had apricot chicken salad, veggies, crackers, and hummus. I love that chicken salad! It is the best I have ever had! I have got to find a recipe for it.
After lunch, I laid out some more and then Jeremy and I rode the jet ski around before we all headed back in right before dinner time.
F, M, and I hammocked some more while the burgers were on the grill.
With our burgers we had jalapeno sausages, roasted okra, and salad.
When we were done eating, M and I watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. It was funny…cheesy, but funny! Then we all stayed up late watching the Texas and Notre Dame game.
Monday morning, I woke up really early and was wide awake. I knew I needed some sleep, so I laid there and slept off and on until about 8. After breakfast, we hung around until everyone left for the lake. We were going to go on home so we didn’t go out on the water. We stayed and visited a little bit with Jeremy’s aunts and uncles before heading home.
Monday was filled with a trip to the grocery store, lots of meal prep, and house cleaning. I was really proud of myself for all my meal prepping. Usually I just make salads for lunch, but this week I made salads, snacks, and I cut up some fruit to have as well.
Jeremy and I watched the Bachelor in Paradise finale and went to bed early. It was a long and fun weekend and I was definitely not ready for it to end.
Today I’m linking up for this week’s what I ate Wednesday post.
