Happy Friday Everyone!! Today is my final post in my Bahamas vacation recap series I hope you have enjoyed them so far. We sure did! And if you need ideas for a vacation, I would highly recommend Sandals Royal Bahamian! I really like having this blog because even with the scrapbook and photos, we sometimes forget things. But, with this, now we can always remember what we did! I left off on Saturday night so we’ll pick up Sunday morning.
If you’ve missed any of the other posts in the series, you can find them here.
Sunday morning I woke up super early. I was at the gym at 6:45. I was determined to not have to wait on a machine. And, when I walked in, there was only one other lady lifting weights in the corner. It felt like I had the whole gym to myself, which was nice! Plus, I could take selfies without anyone thinking I was crazy!
I ran 3.5 miles while I watched the sun rise over the ocean. It was beautiful!
Once I was finished, I grabbed some apple water and headed down to the beach. Not as good as it sounds.
I walked around for a long time. There was something so peaceful about being the only one out there.
I didn’t walk too long because Jeremy and I had an appointment. When we booked our room, it came with some spa credit. It wasn’t enough to pay for even half of a massage, but it covered pedicures! 😉 Jeremy had never had one, so I thought this would be the perfect time for him to try it! He actually really liked it, but I don’t see him getting another one anytime soon.
When that was done, we headed to breakfast. I was so hungry! I had an omelet, sausage, toast, and pineapples.
At noon we went on a snorkeling excursion through the resort. They took us out past the private island. We were told that there were tons of fish, stingrays, and even a nurse shark. As soon as we got out there, it came a sudden downpour and the wind was blowing ridiculously hard. The captain said that usually they would cancel, but since we were already there he would let us try it. We jumped in and it was quite a workout trying to swim against the waves. But, we did see a ton of fish! I was really hoping we would see the nurse shark.
We snorkeled for about 45 minutes before they took us back to the resort. We grabbed a pizza for lunch and fought off the birds!
Then I snorkeled some more in the swimming areas.
I never did find a starfish, but I did get stung by a jelly fish! It hurt sooooo bad!!! It got me right on my bum, and left two big red marks! It would not stop stinging! It was really funny afterwards when I came out of the water. It hurt so bad and I was trying to tell Jeremy that something stung me or was still stinging me. There was a couple that was sitting close and one of them offered to pour her beer on it. But the other said no because that would be a waste of her beer. At that point, I didn’t care what they put on it, I just wanted it to stop! It stung for the rest of the day!
We went back up to the pool and ended up spending the rest of the day hanging out with a couple that lives an hour and half from us. It was a lot of fun!
Sunday night we went to Spices for dinner. They serve Caribbean cuisine. I ordered the conch fritters to start and the lobster tail for my entrée.
The fritters were great, but the lobster was overcooked and all of the vegetables were not cooked at all. So, we ended up at the pub later that night for a snack.
After dinner was the Golden Oldies show. We loved it! It was the same band from the reggae night and they played lots of great music!
At the end of the show we headed to the pub for the rest of the night.
Monday morning I slept in a little longer than I had been. I skipped the gym and went for a walk on the beach. After walking, I got Jeremy and we went to breakfast.
When we were finished, we hopped on the boat and headed to the island.
We snorkeled all morning and saw 8 sea turtles! It was awesome swimming with them. Watch the video below.
We also swam out to the little island behind the private island. That was really cool! It was close and mostly shallow so it was easy to get to. It was super tiny and fun to walk around.
After taking a few pictures, we swam back to the private island. (I saw three more jelly fish!!) I snorkeled around the rocks and in the swimming areas for a while.
We laid on the beach until we were dry and then caught the boat back to the resort.
We went to the grill for lunch and shared a steak sandwich. It was really good! It came with caramelized onions and whole grain mustard.
We spent the rest of the afternoon lounging around the pool and I watched Jeremy play pool volleyball.
We went in early to get ready because we had an appointment with the photographer. We took a ton of pictures on the beach. He did a great job posing us because it was really windy and my hair was a nightmare! I wanted to buy all of them, but they were $18.50 each, or 10 for $175. We only bought a couple, but now I wish I would have bought 10.
Monday night was my favorite night of the whole trip. All of the entertainment that night was fun, and we enjoyed it! They were having a steel drummer for the dinner entertainment so we went to watch. I love steel drums!
It started raining so she had to move inside the pub, but that was where we were going to dinner anyways. So that worked out well! We started with cheese sticks, hot wings, and mac and cheese balls. We did not like the mac and cheese balls at all. They had a very weird texture.
We ordered the fish and chips and the chicken skewer to share. I loved the chicken skewer! The presentation of it was super cool, but it was also really good too!
We finished off with a Banoffe pie.
We hung out in the pub until it was time for the piano man. We went a few minutes early and got a seat at the piano. We stayed the entire time he played and had a blast! Watch the whole video – the song is hilarious!
When he was finished, we went to the theater for the karaoke and dance party. I love watching karaoke! We danced for a little while and then they started playing weird music so we headed to the room. This was the best night of the whole trip!
Tuesday morning I took one more long walk on the beach before packing and getting ready to head home.
We checked out and had breakfast.
We weren’t being picked up until 3:30 so we hung out on the beach and at the pool for most of the day.
Lunch was pizza and we ate it late.
We were given a hospitality room to clean up in before our van picked us up. The couple that I had met in the gym was on our van and our flight!
I was really sad to leave. Usually I am ready to come home and get back in my routine, but not this time. I could have spent another week there. This was definitely the best vacation that we’ve ever been on!
