Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by my Bahamas recap series. Today I’m linking up for another What I Ate Wednesday post so I can share some of the delicious food I ate on vacation. Thursday was such a busy day so it had to have it’s own post. This post will cover Friday and Saturday of our week in paradise! My favorite vacation ever! Just a warning, this post is a little long but is filled with lots of good food and fun activities!
This is the third post in the series. If you missed one or two you can read them here.
I must have been tired Friday because I slept in until 7. I got up and walked around the beach for a little while, but I was super tired and couldn’t wake up. So, I went back to bed and we slept in until almost 10. Which I hated to do, but I felt so much better afterwards. Once we were up and ready, we caught the first boat to the island. We skipped breakfast and ate an early lunch. We snorkeled for a while and saw a sea turtle! It was really cool because it would let you get close enough to touch it.
We snorkeled for probably an hour before going up to the restaurant to eat lunch. The island restaurant is called Stewfish. We started with conch fritters that were out of this world! I tried the signature dish which was the grilled fish of the day on top of a Caesar salad. I don’t know what kind of fish it was but it was delicious. It had a mango salsa on top of it that made it even better. The salad was not good because the fish made it hot. I finished with a guava rum cake – OMG!! So good!
After lunch we hung out on the beach for the rest of the afternoon.
We cleaned up and took some pictures before dinner.
Dinner was at Kimono’s Japanese Restaurant and we ended up sitting with the couple I met at the gym earlier in the week. The restaurant had a sushi bar, and of course I was all about that. I have no idea what I got. I tried everything except the one that said octopus. They were all really good! We had a fun chef that really engaged the group! She was very entertaining and sang and played games while she cooked. We had fried rice, chicken, beef, Mahi Mahi, and shrimp. Although the show was fun, the food was not very good. The rice wasn’t cooked enough and all of the meat was way over cooked. So, we didn’t eat much at all.
After dinner we went to the Bahamian show. It was incredible! The first part was a parade with a band.
For the next part, they asked for ladies in the audience to volunteer to help. I didn’t know it at the time, but Jeremy was standing behind me pointing at me. Of course they came and grabbed me and pulled me up to the front. The girl from the gym who we’d just eaten with was also up there so we had fun. They didn’t embarrass us, we just had to learn a dance and do it as a group. Then, they asked for the husbands to come up. Payback stinks!! They lined them up and made them each talk and dance individually by themselves. It was hilarious! When all of that was over, they made us limbo. I made it to the final 4 girls, but could not go any further!
Then they had a fire show!
When the show was over, we headed to the theater for the “after-party”. They had a huge dance party and it ended up being packed! It was a lot of fun! We danced and danced and danced! 🙂 When we got tired of dancing, we went to the pub to hang out and have a snack before heading to the room. It was such a fun day!
Saturday morning I was out the door by 7:00. I spent some time taking pictures of the sunrise before heading up to the gym. When I got there it was completely packed! There wasn’t a single machine available, so I decided to just walk on the beach instead.
I walked for an hour and a half before going to wake Jeremy up. We went to the Baccarat for breakfast.
This was our first time ever on any of our vacations eating breakfast at the al-a-carte restaurant. It was extremely slow, but the food was amazing! I ordered scrambled eggs and sausage and blueberry pancakes to share with Jeremy. The pancakes were so fluffy and some of the best I have had! It was worth the wait!
For the rest of the morning we relaxed by the pool and floated around in it some.
For lunch we went to the buffet, but nothing looked good. So, we got some dessert to go and went to the Royal Grill.
We ordered calamari and a burger to share. The calamari was great! And, I had been wanting a burger all week because they smelled so good!
After lunch we lounged around some more and I watched Jeremy play volleyball. And then we went SUPping! I love doing this and it was so much fun! We spent a long time out paddle boarding. I would have stayed out longer but a guy on a jet ski started going around us making it hard to stand up.
We took pictures while we were waiting for a table at dinner.
Dinner was at Gordon’s on the Pier. We were seated right next to the edge!
There was a light in the water right next to us, so we got to watch the hundreds of fish swim around it. We kept feeding them bread! For my appetizer I ordered a crab cake and it was awesome! The rest of the dinner was okay. I ordered the chicken and sausage for my entrée and Jeremy ordered a steak.
We skipped dessert so we could make it to the piano bar before the piano man quit playing.
After the piano bar, we went to the theater to go dancing. We had so much fun dancing! Well, I say we, but I mean me! They were doing a lot of line/shuffle dances and I was all about that!
These two days went by so fast! But I guess it does when you’re having fun!
Do you like to dance?
