Bahamas Vacation II

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to part 2 of my vacation recap series.  If you missed part one,  you can see it here.  I left off on Wednesday, so we’ll pick up on Thursday.  The first couple of days were pretty low key, but once we were rested up from traveling, we picked it up!  It wasn’t until I started writing this that I realized how much we actually did on Thursday.  So, Thursday will have a post all to itself!  I’ll pick up here on Thursday morning where I finally got to run internationally!

Thursday morning I was up again before daylight.  I waited until it was light outside to venture out.  I headed to the gym and met a nice couple in the elevator and we ended up spending a lot of time with them during the rest of our stay.

I took this pic one morning when I went at 6 am. There was only one other person in there at that time!

The gym was in the penthouse and had spectacular views of the ocean and the private island.   I loved running on the treadmill while staring at the ocean.  I watched the cruise ships coming in and sun coming up.  It was beautiful!

When I got to the gym, there wasn’t a treadmill open.  So, I spent ten minutes on an elliptical while I waited on the treadmill.  Once one opened up I hopped on it and ran three miles.

When I was finished running, I walked around the beach for a little bit.  Then I woke Jeremy up and we ate breakfast so we could catch a bus to go downtown.  I had some scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast.  I also tried a cream cheese turnover and it was heavenly!

After breakfast we went down to the cruise port to do some shopping.

We went in the straw market first, but they really started stressing me out.  You can’t look at anything without two or three others trying to get you to come look at the same thing at their booth for cheaper.  We bought a few magnets in there and then headed out to check out the regular shops.

After walking around for a long time, we got a cab to take us to Atlantis.

We were so close and wanted to see it.  We couldn’t see much of it because we didn’t want to buy a $90 per person day pass.  But, we were able to walk through the casino and the shops and one of the towers.

Then we went down to the public beach for a few minutes.

When we realized that we couldn’t see Atlantis from the beach, we decided to head back to town.  We walked around some more and stopped by Senor Frogs before getting on the bus back to the resort.

Once we were back, we ate lunch at the Royal Grill.  I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar wrap and Jeremy had a burger.  The wrap was pretty good, but it had a lot of dressing on it so I ended up picking out the chicken.

We hung out in the pool for the rest of the afternoon before heading in to clean up for dinner.

We liked to come down in time to watch the sunset and take some pictures.

Thursday night we ate at Casanova’s Italian Restaurant.  It was my favorite of the whole week.  Not because of the pasta, but because of the salad bar.  The appetizer was an antipasto bar.  They had Caesar salad, tons of grilled veggies, meats, cheeses, and bread.  I could have made a meal on just that.  And, I pretty much did; I was full by the time my meal came.

For our meal I ordered the chicken fettuccine and Jeremy ordered the chicken Parmesan and we shared. They were both really good, but I couldn’t eat much after eating all the food from the salad bar.

We skipped dessert because they were having a chocolate buffet at the entertainment show.  The buffet was pretty small compared to the other Sandals resorts we have been to, but it still had plenty.  I’m not a big chocolate eater, but I got one of everything for both of us to try.  My favorites were some kind of chocolate covered nuts and the strawberry.  The rest was way too rich.  We watched the nightly entertainment show.  It was an employee talent show and it was really good.  One guy juggled knives!  We were sitting on the front row and it made me pretty nervous!  But, he was very impressive.

When the show was finished, we walked over to the pub to hang out for a little while.  Jeremy ordered some cheese sticks and we visited with other couples until really late and then headed up to bed.

Thursday was a busy day, and it was so much fun!  I had almost 30,000 steps on my Fitbit at the end of the day!  It was a great day and I slept so good that night!

I hate the straw market and avoid it when I visit. You know now it is in a building but several years ago it was like an outdoor flea market and was even worse. We do try to go to Paradise Island and visit Atlantis when we can. Years ago you could walk around the property ( we watch people on the water slides, walked throught the aquarium, watched the dolphin swim, and dipped our feet in the pool as we lounged), but now everything is locked up and like you said you have to purchase a day pass! Your resort sounds lovely and that may be were I want to stay next time I visit! Thanks for the insight!

I would have loved to be able to walk around Atlantis and just see everything! I was expecting the straw market to be outside so that was a surprise. But it is still miserable. Lol the resort was awesome! I would highly recommend it!

Your pictures are wonderful! I think I could start every day at a gym with that view. It looks like an incredible trip. All that yummy food too! I remember the straw market from a cruise years ago. Everyone was grappling to braid my hair! We did not hang around. We stayed at a Sandals in Jamaica. It’s one of the best trips we’ve taken They certainly know how to take care of you. The fresh pineapple pina coladas were so tasty. Crabs would run up from the beach and circle your feet in the open dining room too at breakfast. A little freaky. I actually water skied there at Sandals — a very different experience. Thanks for linking, Tara!

Which sandals did you stay at? We’ve stayed at Negril and Ocho Rios. I bet water skiing there would be totally different! Lol no one asked to braid my hair so that is a plus!
