Hi Everyone! Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday Five. I’m linking up with Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!, and Mar from Mar on the Run!. Today we’re talking favorites! Since it’s summer, I thought I would change things up a bit and talk about my five favorite beaches and the resorts that were on them! If you follow me, you probably already know how much I like to travel. If not, that’s okay because I’m going to give you a peek into my favorite vacations.
Montego Bay, Jamaica – This beach is my all-time favorite and my all-time favorite resort! We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall on the Rose Hall beach. Not only was this the resort that spoiled us and ruined all other chains for us, but the beach was absolutely stunning! There was plenty of room to walk up and down the beach. The sand was white and the water was bright blue. The beach was private so there were no vendors trying to sell us anything. The waves were calm and we could sit out there all day watching them come in. There are really no words to describe how nice the resort and the people are. If you ever want to go to Jamaica, I would recommend this resort to anyone! And I have to several friends!
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro on the Bavaro beach. This beach comes in a very close second to Montego Bay. It was huge! The beach had beautiful palm trees and water was turquoise blue! The only reason this one came in second was because it wasn’t a private beach. While the resort was private, the beach in front had cruise ship passengers and vendors walking back and forth. There wasn’t a ton, and it didn’t really bother us. There was resort security that kept them away from the resort chairs and cabanas. Since it was public, we also saw several topless sunbathers. But, the ocean made it so worth it! The waves weren’t big, and the ocean was beautiful to watch. Of course, being an Iberostar Grand, the resort was top of the line! It was beautiful, and the people really made sure you enjoy your stay. I would also highly recommend this resort!
Negril, Jamaica – We stayed on the famous 7 mile beach in Negril. This beach was long and beautiful. The water had absolutely no waves, and it was waist deep for a really long ways out. The water was crystal clear and we saw more starfish here than we have ever seen. We stayed at Sandals Negril and were able to walk about 20 minutes down the beach to the Beaches Negril for a day. The beach was wide and spacious, so it didn’t feel crowded. Watching the sunset over the ocean was breathtaking! This resort was okay. It is very small, and it’s not all updated. But, if you go for the beach, you will not be disappointed!
Playa Del Carmen, Mexico – We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso. The beach here was beautiful! It was wide and long and we took many long walks down it. The sand was crystal white, and the water was bright blue! The only downside to this beach was that there was so much sand that it was hard to walk in. The ocean was also really rocky and wavy, so you had to walk down to another resort to get into the water. But, to just sit on the beach and enjoy the view, this one is beautiful. I think this Iberostar and the one in Montego Bay would be a tie for my favorite. But, for different reasons. This one was huge! All of the Iberostars are brand new and very modern. Everything in them is marble, and they are beautiful! The resort makes the rocky ocean worth it!
Cancun, Mexico – We visited here several years ago. We stayed at the Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe. The resort was nice, but it was more geared towards families than couples. Our room had two full beds in it. But, the beach and ocean were beautiful! We had a beachfront room, and we sat on our balcony a lot! We also spent a lot of time on the beach. I did enjoy this beach, but it was the same as the one in Playa. The sand was very thick and hard to walk on, and the ocean was very wavy. But, I can’t complain about either of them – they are Caribbean beaches! This resort was within walking distance to the downtown area and a short bus ride to the cruise ship port shopping area.
These are my five favorite beaches! I really only have three favorite resorts. They are all the Iberostars! There just aren’t any other all inclusive resorts that we have found that even compare to the Iberostars. The properties are beautiful, the employees are awesome, and they have so many activities and shows that you can find something to do all the time. Or, you can just relax on the beach or in their lake pools. Yes, it’s called a lake pool because it’s huge!
