Guess what day it is? Hump Day! LOL Hi Everyone! We’re half way through the week, which means it’s getting closer to the weekend! Today I’m linking up for another What I Ate Wednesday post.
Today I’m sharing with you what I ate on Monday. I went on a little road trip to visit my cousin M and spend the day with her on Monday. While I was there she treated me to some really great food!
I got up early on Monday because I had an hour drive, and I was trying to get on the road. But I just couldn’t seem to get it together. I was running behind, and my dog was not cooperating. (He’s seriously like a child!) So, I decided to make a shake for the road. I used my Bob’s Red Mill vanilla protein powder. (Don’t forget to enter my giveaway, it’s almost over!) I blended it with two peaches, almond milk, and ice. It actually made enough for two shakes, so I got to save some for later. I put it in this glass for picture purposes, but poured it in my Bob’s Red Mill shaker bottle for the road.
When I got there I ran by the mall for about an hour while she was in an appointment. Once she got done, we met up at her house and headed out in her jeep. She had the top off, and I loved it! It felt like summer driving around with the sun beating down on us and the wind blowing our hair.
She took me to lunch at a cute restaurant that serves salads, sandwiches, and wraps. It was called Cool Greens. You could choose what salad you wanted, or you could build your own. They had every kind of greens and toppings you could think of! You go down a line, like you do at Subway, and tell them what you want.
I started with romaine and spinach. Then I topped it with cheddar cheese, carrots, broccoli, avocado, mango salsa, dried cranberries, and turkey. For the dressing I had the pomegranate vinaigrette. M had to help me choose – I got a little overwhelmed! The salad was huge! I was only able to eat about half of it and it was delicious! It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. I would eat there every day if I could.
After lunch we ran a couple of errands, and then headed back to M’s house to hang out in the pool. It was perfect! We spent the afternoon relaxing in the pool and soaking up the sun.
When we started getting too hot, we decided to go get a pedicure. Somehow, we both managed to smudge our toes. I don’t know how because we sat under the dryer forever, and were careful walking out. I didn’t notice mine until I got home last night. I only smudged one, but M smudged most of hers! I guess the polish didn’t dry fast enough.
For dinner, M took me to Mr. Sushi!
I absolutely love sushi, and so does she. I don’t have anyone to eat it with me, so I hardly ever get it. Plus, we don’t have a good sushi place in my town. So, I was super excited about this dinner! I had no idea what to order, so she ordered for us. We had steamed dumplings and two rolls. The rolls we had were the Salmon Teriyaki Roll which consisted of cooked salmon with unagi sauce and avocado and was topped with sesame seeds and scallions. The other roll was called the Naughty Girl roll. It had salmon tempura, avocado, cream cheese, and was topped with salmon, spicy mayo, and onions. I also ordered a salmon nigiri sushi. I loved it! This was the best sushi I have ever had! I was so full when we were done.
I love sushi, but there is something about eel that I can’t get past. I have not tried it so I don’t know why it bothers me so much. It also makes me think of friends every time I read “Unagi”. Does anyone remember this?
After dinner, we headed over to M’s for a little while, and then I headed home. This happened on the way home, so I told Jeremy it’s time for me to get a Jeep!
I had such a fun day spending time with M and we ate such good food! She said she’s going to take me to all of the good sushi restaurants, so I can’t wait to go back! Not just for the food. LOL I always love hanging out with her and always love some girl time!
Have you ever eaten eel?
