Summer is the season for smoothies and shakes! As the temperatures start rising, I start craving cold and creamy drinks. During the summer I’m out in the sun all day and then I don’t have much of an appetite or feel like eating heavy food. Instead, I love to have an ice cold protein shake or smoothie and it will keep me feeling full and hydrated. I will have them for breakfast, lunch, and a snack. I love using fresh fruit and veggies in my smoothies, and there is always an abundance of them in the summer!
During the summer, I’m also on the go all the time. Since the sun stays out longer, we are outside longer and eat dinner later. So, I usually have to have an afternoon snack. With such an active lifestyle having a shake or smoothie is the perfect solution to staying healthy when we are on the go all the time.
In addition to providing an easy meal or snack, I always have an ice cold smoothie after my runs. It is so important to fuel your muscles properly after a workout, and a protein smoothie is my go-to.
Since I love smoothies and shakes so much this time of year, I was really excited when I was given the opportunity to try out Bob’s Red Mill new protein powders. When the box came in the mail a couple of weeks ago, I couldn’t wait to open it and try all of the flavors!
As a Sweat Pink Ambassador, I try to live a healthy lifestyle and promote that for my readers. I also love being able to share healthy products with all of you. So, I am really excited to share this new product from Bob’s Red Mill with you.
The box I received included four different protein powders – chocolate, vanilla, and chai flavors, and a protein and fiber powder as well. I am really impressed with the nutritional boosters in these powders. All of the powders are loaded with chia seeds, probiotics, and amino acids. They are also all plant based, gluten free, and vegan. They are packed full of fiber and protein and are naturally sweetened.
These powders aren’t chalky and they blend really well. They don’t have a protein-y taste. They are absolutely delicious! My favorite flavor is the Chai! It smells amazing!! And tastes just as good!
So far I have tried the chocolate, chai, and I mixed some vanilla into my oatmeal. All of them are very tasty whether they are mixed alone or with extra ingredients.
My box also included a recipe card. Here’s my favorite one so far:
- 1/2 cup Vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 cup Coconut milk
- 3/4 cup Pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup Mango chunks
- 1 banana
Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. I added a little ice to make it thicker and colder.
I have known about Bob’s Red Mill flours and baking mixes my entire life, but I did not know that they have so much more than that. This information was provided to me, and I wanted to share because it was really interesting to me.
Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods produces more than 400 products, including a full line of certified gluten free products and an extensive line of certified organic products. With a wide variety of whole-grain products—from flours and hot cereals to baking mixes and grains—Bob’s Red Mill has “whole-grain foods for every meal of the day.” An Employee-Owned company, Bob’s Red Mill is the nation’s leader in stone milling and is dedicated to producing natural foods in the natural way. They stone grind all common and many uncommon grains into flours and meals on over one-hundred- year-old mills. With all of the sophisticated knowledge of recent times, no machinery has yet been developed that grinds grains into flour as well as these slow-turning, flint-hard quartz millstones of the kind used by millers since ancient times.
I will be back at the end of the month with more recipes and also to update on you how these protein powders have helped me stay #summerstrong. I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes on the Bob’s Red Mill website.
