Another Rainy Week Recap

Hi Friends!  Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  I have had a very busy week and weekend!  I hope you all had a great weekend and ate some great food.  Since we were so busy this week, I had to fit in workouts and runs whenever I could. 

There’s not a lot to report.  We were out of town three days this week, and we had some family stuff going on.  (The kind of stuff that’s emotionally draining.)  My mood this week was not very good and that reflected in my running and working out.  I just kind of felt down and …blah….I hope that makes sense.   I got pretty much zero hours of sleep all week, which I know didn’t help my mood.  I was extremely stressed so I couldn’t calm my mind down enough to sleep.  With everything that was going on, there were still some highlights and a couple of good workouts.  Here they are:

Monday – I woke up to storms, and they didn’t stop all day.  So, there was no running.  I caught up on some blogging, and I got in a good arm workout and I did some strength training.  There are days that I just want to be lazy, and then there are days when I have so much energy and can’t stand being cooped up.  That’s how Monday was! Jake was also tired of being cooped up.  He chewed up one of his toys in about 5 minutes.

Tuesday – We were on the road and out of town all day. (And it rained on us almost the whole time!) We got back in time for me to go to a birthday dinner for one of my friends.  (That was a highlight of the week!)

The only workout that I did today was squats after dinner.  I didn’t even meet my Fitbit step goal today. 

Wednesday – We had another busy day planned and were heading out of town again.  I got up very early to get a run in.  It was so humid that I really wished it would just start raining!  I hate when you are already sweating before you even start running.  Even with the humidity, I had a really good run!

After my run, I showered and we hit the road.  We went to our cousin M’s dance recital, and we got to see her mom R too!  I love seeing them because we don’t get to as often as we’d like.  The recital didn’t start until 6, and we got there a few hours early so we could shop a little bit.  I love watching M’s recitals – it’s bittersweet – I enjoy watching, but it also makes me really, really miss dancing.

After the recital, we ate dinner at Steak and Shake with Bill and Sandra (aunt and uncle) and then we headed home.  We made it home around 11:45 and went straight to bed.  (This was another highlight of the week!)

Thursday  – I got up early again today to run.  If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I HATE to run in the mornings.  But, I do love it that it’s done for the day.  I also love that after running in the morning, I have so much more energy for the rest of the day.

It sprinkled and misted on me the entire time, but it didn’t actually start raining until later in the day.  My run was more of a walk/run because I was on the phone almost the whole time.  I did get 3 miles in.  A close friend, who I also work with, lost her mom on Wednesday night so I got on the phone and rallied everyone we work with to help with food for the family.    After planning it all morning, a friend and I took over a huge meal and visited for a little while.  When I got home, I did some strength training, an ab workout, and I went for a long walk with Jake later in the evening. 

Friday – We were up early and on the road out of town again today.  We left home around 8 and got back around 7.  It was thundering, and I had to do some baking so I did not get a run in.  I know….excuses.  But, I really wouldn’t have had time because by 7:30, it was storming bad again.  I baked two pans of sopapilla cheesecake bars to take to the farm with us this weekend. They looked a little bit too brown on top, but they were really good! (They are so not good for you, but they taste like heaven!)

We did have a really fun weekend, and that brought me out of my funk!  I’ll do a recap later tonight.  We did so much stuff that it would make this post incredibly long.  I hope you all had a great weekend!  Come back tomorrow, one of my favorite Instagramers is taking over the blog and giving some very empowering advice and motivation!!

    Hey, busy-ness and stress are unavoidable. Some times working out/running help in coping with everything, and some times it’s just not worth it if your heart and/or energy isn’t there. And that’s OK. After all, we are not robots 😉

      That’s so true! I always feel better after running, but sometimes I just don’t feel like running!

    We’ve all had weeks like that! What’s important is you recognized it for what it was and simply moved forward. I’m glad you were able to enjoy a fun weekend though. I bet those sopapilla cheesecake bars are amazing! Poor Jake –I hope he didn’t get in too much trouble. Thanks for linking with us Tara!

      Jake never gets in trouble! LOL He’s pretty spoiled! The cheesecake bars were amazing. I could eat a whole pan by myself! I shared though. 🙂

    Hi Tara – congrats on getting some of your running done during a pretty difficult week! Sometimes it’s just not easy.We all have these weeks and I think it’s just important to put mind over matter sometimes . Not getting enough sleep totally affects your mood and running! Plus all the stormy weather! That’s enough to put a damper on your mood. Living in Florida I totally understand when it sometimes is just too humid to enjoy your run. Hang in there – things will also turn around again!
    I hope this week will be better for you!

    We all have days/weeks like that. It’s so hard to push yourself to run/workout when you’re not motivated. Glad you had a better weekend! Hope this week is going much better for you!

    Sounds like a busy week, but you still squeezed some activity in, which is all we can do some weeks! The weather has been lousy here in Maine too making it difficult to get in biking and running outdoors. Love the pics of your pup, hope he is not in too much trouble 🙂

      After today, the rain is supposed to be over for a long time!! My puppy never gets in much trouble. He’s too cute! Lol
