Hi All! I just had the best weekend! We were go, go, go the whole time! And I loved it! We spent the weekend with family and ate a lot of great food. I didn’t take a lot of pictures because I wanted to just enjoy my time with everyone instead of having to try and get pictures. Here’s what we did.
Saturday morning we got up early and I ran a 5K. I got second place!! You can read my recap here.
After the race, we met up with Jeremy’s family. They all grew up in a small town, where I ran the race, and Mother’s Day weekend is a big celebration there. The school has a big alumni banquet on Saturday night, and Saturday morning everyone goes to the cemetery to put flowers on the graves. This weekend is kind of like a family reunion.
The first thing we did was go to the cemetery to put out flowers. Jeremy’s cousin F was visiting her grandparents, and she was so excited to see me. I was equally excited to see her! She’s three and is the cutest thing and is super funny and I love spending time with her!
It’s actually really neat to look at the graves and see all of the family history that’s there. They have such a big family, someone has to explain them all to me every year!
When we were finished, we headed back to Jeremy’s aunt and uncle’s house in the country to have lunch. After we ate, F wanted to go dig for worms so we could go fishing. She loves touching them, and gets so excited to go find them.
She kept saying, “I’m a good looker.”
We went back to the house and I played outside with F until everyone else got there and we all went fishing. The weather was beautiful, but the fish were not biting. F and M caught a few perch, but none of the rest of us got any bites.
When we got bored with that, we went riding four wheelers. I rode with M and we rode around the farm talking and enjoying the weather! I love when all you can see is land in every direction you look! It’s so peaceful.
Later when all the aunts and uncles went to the alumni banquet, the rest of us went over to Krebs to eat at Pete’s. They have the best Italian food! I was still really sick of spaghetti, but it was good. Much better than what I can make at home! As soon as you sit down they bring out salad, and it is amazing! It’s just lettuce with a homemade dressing, and it’s the best dressing ever! They also bring out an antipasta plate with muenster cheese slices, olives, and pepperoncini’s.
The entrée’s are served family style and I really love their meatballs. I’m not a ravioli fan.
After dinner, we stopped at Braum’s because F wanted ice cream. M and I sat in the car while everyone went in and ate. Neither of us can eat ice cream and we were too full to move. When we got back to the farm, we hung out for a little while longer and then Jeremy and I headed home. I hate leaving everyone because we don’t get to see them as much as we’d like.
Sunday was a pretty lazy day. We were both tired from Saturday. Jeremy and his dad worked on a job for a couple of hours while I did some blogging and laundry.
Then we went to meet my family for dinner to celebrate Mother’s Day. My grandma wanted to go to Rib Crib, so that’s where we went. I ordered a side salad and Jeremy ordered the all you can eat ribs. I ate one of his ribs and a few of his fries.
My mom and grandma got free desserts for Mother’s Day, so I had a few bites of my mom’s cheesecake. It was ridiculously delicious! Here’s what was left of the cheesecake….and surprisingly, no one ate that last bite!
My sister and I handed out gifts when we were finished eating. My grandma opened her card, and I had forgotten to put her gift card in it. Luckily, I had it in my purse, so I had to just hand it to her. Oops!
After dinner, we headed home and took Jake for a walk. Then, we relaxed and watched the Yankees play the Red Socks.
We had such a great weekend! I love these busy weekends and getting to spend time with family. I’m always sad when they’re over. This coming weekend will be a busy one too and I’m really looking forward to it! I hope you all have a great week!
