Happy Mother’s Day! I hope you all had a great week! This was week two after my marathon and it was pretty laid back. I had a 5K on Saturday, so I made sure to get in a few runs. But, I didn’t pressure myself to do it. I want to get back to where I want to run and am running because I enjoy it. Towards the end of training I was dreading runs, and honestly didn’t want to do them. I had to force myself to put my shoes on and get out the door. This week I felt so much better about them. I am also trying to build up Jake’s mileage. I want him to be able to run 3 miles with me. But, I don’t want to overdo it. He’s pretty good about going 2 miles if it’s not too hot. And, since I wasn’t running enormous amounts of miles, I had a lot more energy for other workouts. Here’s what my week looked like.
Monday – I was swamped with work on Monday! I sat in front of the computer most of the day and into the evening. But, Jake didn’t like me working so much. He kept whining and made me take him for two walks! Jeremy finally got home and he took Jake for a walk so I could finish up my work. After I got done, I did an arm workout and some squats. I needed to get up and move around since I had been sitting all day. Monday night, I fixed Italian subs again for dinner.
Tuesday – On my way to work this morning, my tire pressure light and warning started going off. It was saying that I had a flat tire. I flipped to the screen that tells the tire pressure and it said 0! It wasn’t driving funny, so I went on to work. When I got there and looked at it, the tire still looked full. But, I called Jeremy so he could come check it out. He picked up my car and took it to the dealership. We had the oil changed and tires rotated last Friday, and they said they forgot to reset the monitor. Thankfully it was a quick fix and nothing was wrong with my tire.
After work, I headed out for a run. The weather was beautiful! It was sunny, but not too hot.
Then Jeremy and I took Jake for a walk. We ended up stopping and talking to one of our neighbors for almost an hour. Jake got to play with his friends.
When we got home, I did an ab workout and 100 squats! Then we sat on the back porch until it was almost dark. I love warm nights! When we went in, I fixed some chicken, bacon, and ranch sandwiches for dinner. Jeremy is on a sandwich kick this week.
Wednesday – This morning at work, the fire alarm went off and we had to wait outside for 40 minutes! They couldn’t figure out why it had gone off. Once we were allowed back in, it kept going off for most of the morning. They finally figured out that something was malfunctioning. It was kind of funny and made the day interesting!
After work, I helped Jeremy mow our yard and his dad’s. There’s a new commercial on TV for some kind of lawn mower, and it’s line is “It’s not how well you mow. It’s how well you mow fast.” I told Jeremy that was my motto because he always tells me I mow too fast when I’m on our zero turn mower. 🙂
When we got done, I had just walked inside when Jeremy called me to come back out. He had found this in his dad’s front yard!!!
This is the biggest snake that I have ever seen in person! It’s scary!
After that fiasco I got Jake and we ran a mile, and then walked for awhile. Once we were finished, I did some squats, an arm workout, and an ab workout. I am just doing workouts that are on my Get Fit boards on Pinterest. I am also doing ab workouts from blogilates_princess on Instagram. Her’s really work!
My first Thred Up box came in the mail today! I am so excited!
The box and the packaging was so cute!
This is my new favorite way to shop. You can buy like new, name brand clothes for more than half off the original price! I tried on all of my clothes and loved them! There were only two that didn’t fit right, so I am sending them back and exchanging for something else. They have an app, and I am already addicted!
I ate dinner early and went to bed around 8. I was planning on watching TV for awhile, but I fell asleep. I guess I was really tired.
Thursday – I had a really long and draining day at work, so I couldn’t wait to get home and head out the door for a run. I took Jake for a mile walk first. It was a little hot for him.
He had a friend come over.
And he wouldn’t leave!
Once I got the puppy back to his home, I headed out for a run. Thankfully the wind was blowing, because it was pretty hot and humid! I went in and laid in front of the fan to cool off when I was finished.
I cleaned up and went to Jeremy’s baseball games. I stayed there until I got cold and then went back home.
Jeremy’s games ran really long and he didn’t get home until around 11. I waited on him to come in, and then fell asleep on the couch.
Friday – I had planned all week to sleep in today. I was really looking forward to it. But, our doorbell rang at 7:30! Our neighbor came over because there were 3 horses in the road, and he needed help catching them. Somehow they had all gotten out of a pasture down the road and were going to cause a wreck. But, before Jeremy could get out there, several others had helped him get them back in the pasture. I actually fell back asleep and slept until about 9:30. I had a ton of errands to run, and Mother’s Day gifts to pick up. I also mailed my Thred Up closet cleanout bag. They send you a bag and you put what you want to sell in it and send it back to them for free!
When I got home from running errands, I took Jake for a walk. We went half a mile and he was tired, so I took him home so he could cool off.
A couple hours later, we went for another walk and then sat on the porch for awhile.
Friday night we ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut. I broke my ritual of pasta the night before a race….
Saturday – This morning we got up at 6:30 and got ready to head to my race! It was in a town about 45 minutes away. We ran through McDonald’s on the way and I ate a plain English muffin and half of a yogurt parfait. We got to the race site around 8:20. Packet pickup was easy. I got a backpack with a t-shirt and a few other things.
We hung around with the other runners and visited with some friends from our town until they called for us to line up.
We were off at exactly 9:00. Since they started so late, it was already hot and humid! The first half of the race was all uphill! And, we ran through the country so there was literally nothing to look at except cows. At the halfway point, we turned around and came back. So, that meant that the second half was all downhill! There was a girl I started next to that I tried to pace myself with, but I couldn’t keep up! She beat me by 4 minutes. She ended up being in my age group, so that put me coming in second. I was so excited! I also came in 5th overall in the women’s and 11th overall in the entire race!
After the race, we hung around until they handed out awards. We all went in the building and they called out each winner and the school mascot (hornet) presented us with our medals.
It was fun, and now I can’t wait to do another race!
Then we spent the day with family! We had a big weekend, and I’ll recap it all on Tuesday!
I hope you all had a great week and a great weekend!
