5 Ways Marathon Training Affected My Body

During this marathon training, I have learned a lot about myself, and about my running.  I have experienced new things and changes that I didn’t know that I would.  I have been asked questions about how training for a marathon has affected my body.  So, I thought I would share with you.  First of all, let me say that everyone is different, and everyone’s body handles things in different ways.  I am only sharing my experience with how my body was affected during my marathon training.  I am not an expert at any of this; it was all a learning experience for me.  I learned what worked and what didn’t, and I learned what to do differently next time.  Throughout all of this, when I would notice things, I didn’t know if they were normal or not.  It wasn’t until I wrote about some of it and got confirmation in my comments from many of you that have done this before me that I realized that it was okay.  more “5 Ways Marathon Training Affected My Body”

My First Marathon!!

I ran my first marathon this weekend!  I ran a marathon!!  It was unlike anything that I have ever experienced.  Just like training was, this race was a roller coaster of emotions.  The good news is that I finished! The beginning was great, the ending was awesome, but the middle part was absolute hell!  This was the hardest thing I have ever done, and I struggled more than I could have ever imagined.  But, I crossed the finish line.  more “My First Marathon!!”

Last Week of Marathon Training

Hi Guys!  It seems funny posting this since the race is over with, but this was the last week leading up to the race.  I had this already written up to Saturday.  So, I’ll go ahead and let you see what I did during my last week of training.   My goal going into this week was to make sure I was hydrating and resting.  I didn’t want to get to that start line and be tired before I started.  I think I did pretty well with both of those goals.  On Wednesday, it really started to sink in that it was finally here.  I started getting excited and nervous!  Also this week, I broke my plank streak.  I made it to day 15.  I’ll try to do another streak soon.  Here’s how my week went.   more “Last Week of Marathon Training”

Run to Remember

The Run to Remember OKC Memorial Marathon is not just a race.  There is a history behind it and we run for more than a medal or a PR.  This race draws people from all over the country.  Last year there were 25,500 runners from 46 states, and 7 countries.  For those of you who don’t know, I wanted to share what this race is all about.  more “Run to Remember”

My Kind of Weekend

Hi guys!  Another weekend has come and gone, and I hope you all had a great one!  Mine was awesome, and I got to catch up on some much needed sleep.  I spent the weekend relaxing with family, visiting friends, and eating a lot of good food!  Next weekend is my race, so I wanted to rest a lot this weekend.  I love weekends like this when we don’t have a lot of plans, and we can hang around the house.  It was a really great weekend! more “My Kind of Weekend”

Marathon Training Week 17

Hi guys!  I hope you all are having a great weekend!  Running this week was not great. My weekday runs really were a bust, but my long run was pretty good. I was exhausted the entire week. Actually I think that is an understatement! After reflecting on this week, I think there were several factors that played into it. Since I didn’t have as many miles scheduled this week, I cut back on the amount of calories I was eating. I also didn’t get any rest last weekend, and not much this week either. Plus, work was extremely draining this week too. So, I think all of that impacted how I ran this past week. I have one week to go until my race! I did continue my plank streak this week, so now I am up to Day 13! Here’s how my running went this week. more “Marathon Training Week 17”

5 Life Lessons Running Taught Me

I started running as a way to lose weight and be healthy.  When I began running I had no idea how it would change me. Running is so much more than just an exercise.  It’s a way of life.  It has so many different purposes in my life, and it has given me so much.  It’s significance in my life is indescribable.  I have learned so much from running; more than just lessons about running.  It has also taught me many life lessons.  I want to share some of them with you. more “5 Life Lessons Running Taught Me”

What I’m Eating Now

Hi Friends!

Today I have a recipe(ish) that I want to share with you.  I snap chatted a picture of a salad that I made Monday night, and I got a lot of questions about what was in it and how I made it, so I thought I would share it with all of you.  Let me first say that it was delicious, and very filling!  I just threw together some ingredients that I had, and it turned out really well!  I also made enough so that I could have a salad for lunch everyday for the rest of the week.  more “What I’m Eating Now”

Marathon Training Week 16

Hi Friends!  This was a great week of running, working out, and eating.  I went into this week with a completely different mindset than I had the week before.  I decided that I was going to make healthier choices and not miss any runs.  I want to know that I tried my best when I get to that starting line, and to do that I needed to change the way I was thinking about it.  I had in my mind that the hard part was over and I was on the downhill. Which technically I am.  But, I didn’t want that to mean that I could slack off on everything and eat whatever I wanted to.  I know how important these few weeks before the race are, and I needed to treat them that way.  I sat down Sunday night and planned my week out as far as food, running, and workouts.  Which I have done, but not consistently.  And, I got up Monday morning with a totally new outlook!  more “Marathon Training Week 16”

My Life From A to Z

Hi Friends!  Today I wanted to share a fun post with you.  Remember those fun annoying email surveys we all used to get?  Well, I decided to post one.  Don’t worry, I’m not going to tag 5 friends in it.  I know this little survey is extremely old, but I recently saw it on a couple of other blogs, and it looked like fun.  It took me a little while to come up with something for every letter!  It’s just random facts about me, which will hopefully help you get to know me better.  more “My Life From A to Z”
