Hey guys! Happy Monday! This past weekend flew by so fast that’s it’s all a little bit of a jumble. This weekend was pretty eventful…and very draining! I need another few days to catch up on some sleep and recover. But, that’s not going to happen, so we just keep going. Here’s what I was up to this weekend.
Friday morning I slept in a little bit. I had spent all day Thursday at a hospital with one of my family members, and I didn’t get home until late Thursday night. I was supposed to go to lunch with a friend, but she had some stuff come up and had to cancel. So, Jeremy and I went grocery shopping instead.
We were planning on making spaghetti and steaks for dinner. This was my pick because I had 18 miles to run Saturday morning.
We were at the grocery store and got a call that a close family member had been rushed to the hospital. She has diabetes, and her blood sugar bottomed out. She was in a diabetic coma. We took the groceries home and drove an hour to the hospital. By the time we got there, she was awake, but was not stable. They had to medi-flight her to another hospital in Texas. Once they loaded her in the helicopter, we jumped in the car and drove another hour to a different hospital. She was in the trauma section of the ER until 1:30 am. They had a hard time stabilizing her.
Once she was stable, they were able to move her to a hospital room. We stayed until 2 am when she was settled in. Then, we had a 2 hour drive home. We were both exhausted, and starving because neither of us had eaten all day. So, on the way home we stopped at Taco Bell. I really don’t like this place, but I was so hungry at that point I didn’t care.
We got home around 4 am and both of us fell into the bed and slept hard! I woke up at 10 on Saturday and fixed some breakfast so I could get ready to run. I debated on running on Sunday, but I really wanted to get it done so I could rest on Sunday. I didn’t get up early enough to run with my dad, so I was on my own. I headed to the park and I made it 15 miles before I just couldn’t go anymore.
I might could have finished the 18, but I was cold and coughing, and just ready to lay down. The exhaustion from the last two days was catching up with me.
I headed home and after I cleaned up, Jeremy and I fixed dinner. We had steaks, baked potatoes, and salad. We went out to start the steaks on the grill, and figured out that we were out of propane. Oops! So, we had to run to town to get another bottle. Then we were able to cook and eat. It was delicious! Jeremy fixed a ribeye for himself, and a sirloin for me.
I filled up on salad and a sweet potato, so I didn’t eat much steak. That sirloin was as big as the plate, and we had almost the whole thing left over.
I tried this new dressing, and it was sooooo good!!
After dinner, we watched The Intern. It was really good. I thought it was supposed to be a comedy, but it wasn’t. I really liked it though! Then we slept!
Sunday morning we woke up around noon! We are both exhausted from everything that’s been going on. We needed the sleep! Once we got up, we headed back to Texas to visit at the hospital.
We stopped at Taco Casa on the way and had some tacos for lunch.
We stayed at the hospital until around 6:30. We got home around 8:30 and fixed the leftover steak for dinner. After eating, I laid in bed and watched 2 Broke Girls on the DVR until I fell asleep.
This weekend was emotionally draining, but our family member is doing much better. I was super happy that I got my run in, because honestly I tried to figure out a way to not do it. I’m hoping next weekend we can do something fun!
