Weekend Adventures: Running, Shopping, & Eating

Hi everyone! I’ve been a little MIA this last week and haven’t had time to post much.  But things are calming down, so I’m back!  We took a little road trip this weekend, and it was a lot of fun!  Grab a cup of coffee and let’s get to it!
Friday morning I got up at 4:50 am so I could get a run in.

Then I had a meeting at work that lasted until around noon.  Jeremy was ready to go when I got home and we hit the road.  Running, Shopping, and Eating Weekend Adventures New Blog Post Run and Live Happy (6)We headed to Tulsa to visit his aunt and uncle. It’s almost a 2 hour drive from our house to theirs and it rained on us almost the whole way. We stopped once to get a sandwich to share for lunch.

Turkey breast, lettuce, pickles, banana peppers, mustard

Several miles outside of Tulsa my gas light came on and the warning signal dinged.

Jeremy was convinced that we could make it to our exit, and then down the street before he stopped. I was sending my friend that ran out of gas last Tuesday pictures on snapchat. Lol We drove past several gas stations and I think he got tired of me snap chatting them so he finally stopped!

Once we got to his aunt and uncles, we unloaded our stuff and hopped in their car and went shopping.

We went to the mall and I went all through it and didn’t buy anything! I found all kinds of cute dresses and cute summer clothes, but that’s not what I need.

I don’t know what is wrong with me lately, but apparently I have lost the ability to style myself!  I texted my cousin (she’s in high school) and told her that she’s taking me shopping!!  Hopefully we’ll be able to do that soon! After the mall, we ran by a few more stores. I did buy a new jean jacket.
Then we went to eat at El Chico’s. They had a 2 for $20 deal so we decided to do that. We ordered chicken fajita nachos for our appetizer.

We also had queso fundido that all of us shared. Then for my meal I ordered a cheese enchilada and a pork taco. The enchilada was ok.  The pork taco was disgusting. It tasted like a roast meat covered in a very sour chili sauce.

We had so much food though and I got so full!  There was also a dessert that came with our meal deal. Jeremy was really wanting the brownie sundae.  I can’t eat ice cream, so I let him get that and I ordered a sopapilla. After we were finished, we went home and went to bed!

Saturday morning I woke up at 6:50. I had decided Friday that I wanted to do my long run down on the riverside paths next to the Arkansas River so I could see some different scenery. So everyone got up and loaded in the car and they drove me down there.  I had a great 14 mile run! You can read about it and see all my pictures here.

After my run, we went to eat lunch at Incredible Pizza. This is a place kind of like Chuckie Cheese. It has a huge arcade, laser tag, bowling, mini golf, go karts, and bumper cars. They also have a huge buffet all kinds of foods and a salad bar. We went in and it was jam packed full of kids! We were not expecting it to be that busy. But, we wanted to try the food so we stayed. While everyone was in line to pay for our lunch, I was looking at the food and taking a few pictures. The next thing I know, this man, who claimed to be the manager, comes rushing over to me demanding to know why I am recording the food.  I was a little taken aback at how rude he was being. I told him that I was just taking pictures for my blog. He acted like he didn’t believe me and told me that he needed to make sure that I was not copying his concept. I tried again to explain that I was only writing about what I was doing for lunch and he kept talking about making sure that I wasn’t stealing his food ideas. I was getting a little annoyed, and asked him if I was not allowed to take pictures. He said that he needed to make sure that whatever I was doing was positive and that I was not taking his food ideas.  Then he told me that I needed to check with him before I took anymore pictures. Chill dude! I seriously thought he was going to take my phone. I could not believe he was acting like that!

After that little event, we fixed our plates. I fixed a salad and tried the creamy Italian dressing, which was gross!

The pizza was good and fresh, and the cinnamon rolls were good.

The foods that everyone else got looked really good too, but I wasn’t that hungry.  I figured I would be starving after running, but I was not.  When we finished eating, Jeremy and I walked through the arcade. There was a line at every game and activity, so we left do to a little more shopping.  We went to Academy and I picked up a few essentials!

Then we went to Shoe Carnival and I got some new Converse. I wear a kids size, so they are cheaper!

We went to Sam’s and stocked up on a few things.  Jake was really happy when I brought home a huge box of his treats, and I was excited to find this pack of Zyrtec for only $30!  I usually pay $12 for 10 pills!

And then we went to Gander Mountain. We have never been to one, so we just wanted to look around. It was nice and we’ll be back closer to hunting season.

After that, we went back to the house for a little while before we went to dinner.  It was late, and there wasn’t much open, so we ended up at IHOP. I love IHOP because they have blueberry syrup. I love anything blueberry.

I ordered my favorite thing, blueberry pancakes, and ate them with blueberry syrup!

After dinner, we went back and stayed up late visiting.

Sunday morning we ended up sleeping longer than we planned. I woke up at 10. Once everyone was ready, we went to Cracker Barrel to eat. I ordered the Old Timer’s breakfast. I swapped out the eggs for eggbeaters and bacon for turkey bacon. It came with grits and hash brown casserole, neither of which I liked. It also came with biscuits and apple butter which was heavenly!

After lunch, we got back on the road and headed to visit my mother in law. It was a 3 hour drive, and it was sunny and beautiful!

Jeremy told me that my foot looks really swollen. I didn’t notice it until after I took this picture.

When we got there, this little guy was there, and I got to play with him for a few hours! I really wanted to take him home with me! He’s a teacup poodle!

Then finally we headed home to unpack.  Jake was so happy to see us!  It was a busy weekend, but it was a lot of fun!

What did you do this weekend?
