I love date nights and I think they are important in every relationship, but I hate spending a ton of money for one night. You don’t have to spend a lot to have a good time with your significant other. So, with Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend, I decided to put together a list of some of my favorite inexpensive dates.
Dinner and a Movie – This is my all-time favorite way to spend a date night with my husband. But, it’s not your typical dinner and movie. I don’t like going out to dinner and then to the movie theater. In fact, in the last year, we have only been to the movie theater twice. My favorite thing to do is to stay home and cook dinner together or order pizza and have a movie marathon. Netflix and Redbox are cheap ways to watch movies. I once surprised Jeremy with a pizza and movies. I sent him a picture of the pizza and movies so he knew what was waiting on him at home. He came right home, and we enjoyed a night in. Tip: Light some candles!
Game Night – Another one of our favorite dates is to spend a night in playing board games. When we do this, we usually play games with another couple. It’s a friendly competition and it’s a lot of fun!
Get Outside – Being active together is a lot of fun. It will also give you some quality time for conversation! Find something to do that you both enjoy. Find a local park and go for a walk or have a picnic. Get out and play basketball. Go biking. One thing we like to do is play golf or mini golf. If you have snow, go sledding or build a snowman.
Go Exploring – Spend a day exploring your city. You can use Trip Advisor to see popular spots or fun things to do. There is also an app called gpsmycity.com that gives you walking maps of over 470 cities. It shows you the best attractions in each city and gives you a detailed map. You can spend the day together taking pictures and finding new places.
Look at old picture albums – This date is completely free, and it is the most enjoyable of all of them. Spend the night looking through photo albums and reminisce about your time together. We like to watch our wedding video and look at our wedding album. We end up spending hours laughing and talking about memories from the pictures. Spending time like this together helps you to reconnect and brings you closer.
