I did a little early spring cleaning yesterday. I tackled my closet! I noticed that I have started wearing the same few outfits over and over, so I figured it was time to go through all of my clothes and clean out my closet. I do this a couple of times a year. I go through every piece of clothing I have and get rid of clothes that don’t fit or that I don’t wear anymore. Then I can make a list of things that I need to add to my wardrobe. So, today I decided you could go through my closet with me!
But first, let’s talk about what I did before this time consuming project! (It took me 3 and half hours!)
I woke up early yesterday morning and was full of energy! That was a huge improvement from the last few weeks! I fixed an English muffin with butter for breakfast.
Then for lunch, I had some steamed broccoli and grilled chicken. I cheated and used the Tyson Grilled and Ready frozen chicken. All you have to do is pop one in the microwave for two minutes. Even though it’s frozen, it is really juicy and flavorful. Its good for a quick lunch or dinner when I don’t have a lot of time.
After lunch, I took Jake for a walk. It was cold, and the wind was blowing hard!
I probably shouldn’t have been outside, but he kept following me around whining, so I felt bad. We didn’t stay out long, because I think the wind bothers his ears.
We jogged almost a mile, and it felt so good!
I was scheduled to run 3 miles yesterday, but I know I’m still not 100 percent well, so I didn’t want to push it. I am thinking about waiting until Thursday or Friday and running a one or two short runs, and then this coming weekend I will run 13 miles.
When we got done walking, I came in and baked Jeremy’s second birthday cake. We are going out to dinner tonight with my family to celebrate. It smelled really good. I really wanted to sneak a taste, but I didn’t.
After the cake was done, I started on my closet. It took forever! But, it needed to be done. I don’t have a huge closet, so it gets full and it’s hard to get to everything. When I clean it out, I take everything out of it and put back the items that I am keeping. I do one side at a time.
I found these Forever 21 shirts. I had 6 of them! I got them last summer when they were all on sale, but I have only ever worn one of them. So, it was time for them to go because they were just taking up space.
I had a ton of shirts that I have had for years, but that I don’t ever wear. I don’t know why I keep them, so I finally decided to get rid of them. I’m bad about hanging on to things. I always think I will wear it one day. But, I haven’t so I got rid of a bunch of stuff.
Then I went through my shoes. None of these fit! This is the weirdest thing ever, but my feet have shrunk. (2 sizes!!) When I was in high school and college, I used to wear a size 7, and all of those shoes are a 7 (except the boots). But, I haven’t worn a 7 in probably 7 or 8 years. So, I am getting rid of all of these.
This is what my closet looked like after I was done! Much better! Now let’s see how long it stays like this. LOL
I had 3 bags full of clothes to donate. I give them to a local school. I had a ton of hoodies and plain t-shirts from Old Navy that hopefully some little girl will like.
I am selling a few of the other clothes and all of the shoes on Poshmark. If you haven’t been on there, you should check it out! Click on the link and it will take you to my closet!
How often do you clean out your closet?
