Being sick this week and being ordered to “rest” has left me with not a lot going on. So, instead of breaking up my week into several posts, I’ll just catch you up in one.
I got the doctor’s orders on Monday afternoon to rest for the next several days, and she also added, “Absolutely no running!” I was a little upset at first, but I welcomed the rest. My body was so worn down and weak, and every muscle felt sore and ached. I don’t think I could have pushed through a run if I’d wanted to. So, I got to watch a lot of TV and get a lot of sleep. Monday night I was in bed (watching TV) by six!
I did get up Tuesday and go to work. I didn’t really want to, but I hate to miss. And, I thought if I just sat all day I would be okay. I made it to lunch. I went home and went to bed around 12:30 and slept until 4:30. Then I laid there until 6:45 when I got up and showered and fixed some dinner. On Tuesday, I was back to having no appetite, so I had to force myself to eat. I fixed an English muffin for breakfast and could only eat half of it. I didn’t eat lunch because I felt awful, and by dinner time I was still not hungry. I thought if I ate a good meal that I might feel a little better, so I fixed a big breakfast. I took a little bit of every breakfast item we had and fixed a big plate. I had scrambled eggs, toast, hash browns, and sausage. Once I started eating, I was hungry so I ate all of it!
After dinner, I felt a little stronger, but I was still tired so I was back in bed by 8:00.
Wednesday morning when I woke up I felt pretty good. This is how I have been feeling right after I sleep. But, then the longer I’m up, the worse I feel. I went ahead and went to work because I get bored being in bed. And, I decided that if I felt bad during the day that I would just go ahead and take off the whole day on Thursday to rest. By about 11 I felt really bad again. But I stayed the rest of the day.
Wednesday was Jeremy’s birthday. So, after work I ran by Wal-mart to pick up some things so I could make him dinner. I also picked up stuff to make him birthday cakes. Yes, it’s plural. He couldn’t decide which kind he wanted, so I just got two to make. He’s a little spoiled! He got one Wednesday night, and then next week we are having dinner with my family to celebrate his birthday so he will get the other one then. After Wal-mart, I went straight home to the couch! I laid there for a couple of hours, and then got started baking one of his cakes. I usually make his cakes from scratch, but since I wasn’t feeling well, I just grabbed the box mixes. He’s happy either way, so it was okay.
I made him a Duncan Hines Triple Chocolate cake with milk chocolate icing. He really liked it!
I also fixed him goulash for dinner. He loves it, and it’s what he wanted. He ended up having to help me cook his birthday dinner because of how bad I was feeling.
After dinner, we ate cake.
Then, he opened his gifts. I got him a gift certificate to get his windows tinted. He’s been wanting to for a long time, but just hasn’t done it yet. So, now he can! I also got him a garment bag that goes inside of his refereeing bag that keeps his clothes from getting wrinkled.
As soon as he was done opening his presents, I was back in bed. I took off Thursday and I slept until noon. I was really hoping when I woke up that I would feel a little better, but I think I felt worse. I think Wednesday wore me out. I laid on the couch and slept off and on all afternoon.
I got up to fix a grilled cheese for dinner, and then I went right back to sleep for the night.
I took off today as well, and I woke up around 9 this morning. Right now I am feeling better, so hopefully I am on the mend! I actually woke up hungry, so I fixed some oatmeal for breakfast.
I am going to stick to the couch and recliner today so I don’t overdo it, and hopefully by Monday I will be back to normal!
I am not going to attempt to run this weekend. If I am feeling 100 percent on Tuesday, I will try to start back then. I still have 12 weeks until the marathon, so I think that is enough time to get ready. I hope!
