Hi Everyone! How are you today?
I’m doing great!! I thought I would catch you up on my weekend activities. It wasn’t a very restful weekend, but I also don’t feel like I was very productive. The highlight of my weekend was my run! But, I’ll get to that in a minute.
Let’s start with Friday. As soon as I got home from work, I took Jake for a quick walk.
It was so nice outside. It was in the upper 50’s. As soon as I finished walking him, Jeremy and I left for his ballgames. I had a conference call on the way there, and ended up sitting outside of the gym for a while finishing it up. When the sun went down, it got cold outside. I was literally shaking!
When I got inside the gym, I found a seat up high in the corner alone. The games were bad! They were the worst games I have seen this year. At the end of the girl’s game, the score was 23-25. It was awful, and the boy’s game wasn’t much better. But, they did go fast and we were in the car and on our way home by 9! We decided to eat at home Friday night instead of grabbing some fast food on the way. I ate some toast and Special K cereal.
Saturday morning I got up around 8. I had 12 miles scheduled. I got completely dressed and ready to go out the door and was about to fix something to eat when I checked the weather on my phone. It said it was 26 degrees outside and it was a 60 percent chance of snow all morning. I said, “forget that!” And I went back to bed for a little while. I decided to wait until Sunday since it was supposed to warm up. When I finally did get up, we went to town to run some errands and pick up our groceries for the week. I bought a bunch of stuff to make salads for lunch all week!
When we got back home, I spent a long time stretching and foam rolling before we left for Jeremy’s games. This time his partner’s wife came, so I had someone to talk to.
The games were much better Saturday night than they were Friday. They also took a lot longer. It was close to 11 when we got home, and neither of us had eaten anything. I ate some waffles, and I fixed Jeremy a sandwich. I really hate eating that late, but I was so hungry! As soon as we ate, I went to bed because I could barely keep my eyes open.
Sunday morning I got up and got ready to run. I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a banana and then I laid around while I let it settle. The weather had warmed up some. It was in the 30’s and it was sunny. I had a great run! It did get boring because I decided to run near my house since my foot had been bothering me all week. So, I did the entire 12 miles up and down two little quarter mile side roads. But, I did it! Around mile 4, I got hot and had to go change. I had worn my Under Armor cold gear and was burning up. Then, at mile 6 I ran home to get a drink. My body felt pretty tired, but I kept pushing. I was so proud of myself for doing it!
After I got done, I went home and foam rolled my legs. I thought I would be sore yesterday, but I wasn’t at all! I also ate some snacks. I was hungry! I had a plate of turkey, muenster cheese, and pickles, and then I had a bowl of Special K cereal.
I was a little productive that afternoon. I helped Jeremy get the garage cleaned up, and I did several loads of laundry. (We had to wash all of our hunting clothes so we can put them up until next season.) Then we took Jake for a walk. It was freezing! I had to borrow my father in law’s jacket becuae I wasn’t bundled up enough!
Then I fixed dinner. Jeremy had found this kit while we were grocery shopping and wanted to try it.
I opened it up, and all of the crispy shells were broken.
So, we had soft tacos for dinner, and they were good!
After that, we laid around watching tv. We watched Married by Mom and Dad. That show is as crazy as Married at First Sight. I just don’t understand what would make someone want to do that. But, it makes for good tv! We stayed up pretty late, since I didn’t have to get up early Monday.
Yesterday, I had a doctor’s appointment. My insurance pays me $200 if I get yearly check –ups. They call it a comprehensive preventive check up. Usually, the doctor just checks my blood pressure and listens to my heart and we’re done.
This time, it was a little strange. There was a new nurse, and she asked me all kinds of weird questions, and none of the normal ones. She asked me when I had a Tetanus shot last, and if I had had a colonoscopy. Then she said she had to give me a depression screening. She asked me a million ridiculous questions about my mental health, which I thought was odd. I have a counseling degree, I know what these types of questions are for. But, I couldn’t figure out why she was asking me. When the doctor came in, I asked her what that was about, and she said it was something new that the insurance is requiring them to do now. They not only want to make sure that you are physically healthy, but mentally healthy as well. And, I am both! She said I was the healthiest person she had seen in a while. I thought probably because I’m not here because I’m sick. But, that was good to know! All in all, the whole visit took about an hour.
When I was finished, I headed to work for a meeting. It was supposed to last an hour, but it ended up lasting over an hour and a half! It was super boring! A couple of my co-workers were sending me funny texts, and I almost laughed out loud several times, which would have been really embarrassing!
After that, I headed to my mom’s to pick up a gift she brought me from her trip to LA this past week. She bought me a keychain with my name on it and a t-shirt. We looked all over when we were out there this summer and could not find anything with my name on it.
Then, I went home and bundled up and took Jake for a walk.
I am so over winter. I am ready for summer! I can’t stand to be cold! Jake didn’t seem to mind it though.
Then I sat down to watch the Bachelor and wait on Jeremy to come home from his games.
Did you do anything productive this weekend?
