Let’s Talk About Running

Let’s talk about my running this week…or lack of.  With the holidays and all of the celebrating we have been doing, I have gotten a little off of my schedule.  Monday was a rest day, and I should have run.  But, I was worn out from all of the festivities and I thought I would rest.  And, we took my grandparents to a basketball game.  They had a blast!  

 Tuesday was supposed to be 3 miles, but we ended up going shopping, so I didn’t get a chance to run.  Well technically I could have run early that morning, but the temperature was in the 20’s and the roads were icy.  So, I skipped. 

Yesterday I finally ran.  It’s been a week, and I have missed my running shoes!!  I tried out my new Bombas socks, and I loved them!  They are so comfortable.   

 I ran 4 miles.  Before my run I had some turkey with carrots and hummus.  


I waited about 30 minutes and then headed out.  The weather was really cold!  I had debated on going to my mom’s to run on her treadmill (which she gave to me and we brought home last night!!  So excited!!), but then the sun came out. 

  I ran the first 2 miles with no problems.  I wasn’t even that cold once I started going.  But, then my left leg started hurting bad, and my right one was aching a little bit.  I walked for a little while, and then continued.  I know it’s stupid to run when I’m in pain, but I went really slow and went home and used my foam roller and iced both legs.   

 I think they were hurting because I walked around all day Tuesday in my Uggs.  Or, maybe because I haven’t run in a week.  When I got home, I realized that I had looked at my training plan wrong, and I ran 4 miles instead of 5. 

After my run, I took Jake for a walk.  He likes the cold weather and ran and ran!   

 When we got home I was really hungry, so I ate some oatmeal with brown sugar and cranberries.  


Since I didn’t get my 5 miles in yesterday, I’m going to try to do it today.  I iced, massaged, and used a heating pad on my legs and they seem to be fine today.

I know starting next week everything will go back to normal so I’ll be able to get back on a pretty consistent schedule.
