Runfessions for May

Today is the last Friday in May!  Where did the month go?  I can’t believe it’s already over, but that means that it’s June.  June is my favorite month because 1.  It’s summer, and 2.  It’s my birthday month!   But, before we get to June and since this is the last Friday in May, that means it’s time for Runfessions.  Sometimes you just need to get some things off your chest!  So, here we go. 

I runfess that since my marathon at the end of APRIL the longest run I have done is 6 miles.

I also runfess that I’m okay with that!  I do want to get in half marathon shape and stay that way until I decide for sure if I’m going to train for another marathon in November, but I just haven’t yet! 

I runfess that I have my eye on a half marathon in two weeks, and I probably won’t be ready.  If I can work it into our schedule, I am planning on doing it.  I may have to walk some of it since I’m obviously not running long runs right now! 

I runfess that I ran in the pouring rain for the very first time this month and I LOVED it!  Once I was already soaked, it was pretty fun to keep going.  I’m sure all the cars driving by thought I was nuts, but oh well!

I runfess that for the first time EVER, I have a black toenail!!  I’m really hoping it doesn’t fall off.  (I painted it, so you don’t have to see it!)

My Ideal Running / Racing Conditions

Rainy Day Runs and Workouts

Hi friends!  I hope you all had a great week!  I had a very rainy week!  We had rain and storms just about every day this week, which can make it tough to stay active.  When I wake up and it’s raining, I don’t even want to get out of bed! Even though the weather forecast showed rain and storms for the next 15 days starting last Sunday night, I was able to still get out and get some runs in.  I also focused on a lot more strength training and core workouts.   I feel like I had a pretty active and productive week!  And, we did end up having a few days without rain!   more “Rainy Day Runs and Workouts”

Easy Homemade Meatballs

Hi guys!  Today I wanted to share a recipe with you that I absolutely love!  I have been making homemade meatballs since I was in college.  I have made them so much, that I know the recipe by heart.  This is the first meal that I made for Jeremy.  I like to think it’s what hooked him.  Just kidding, but he did love it!  These meatballs are so easy and flavorful that you will never eat frozen meatballs again!  more “Easy Homemade Meatballs”

An Eventful Week

Hi guys!  I had a pretty eventful week.  I had some excitement this week and an extremely hectic and draining week at work…soooo I slacked off a little bit on running and working out.  I have been doing the Squat Away May challenge, and I did get all of those in each day.  But, other than that, I’ve slacked off.  But, I caught up on some sleep last night, so now I’m rested and ready to get back on track!  Here’s what my week looked like.  more “An Eventful Week”

Marathon Training Tips

Today I wanted to share some of the things that I learned when training for my first marathon.  After completing my training, I thought a lot about how I felt about it all.  It actually took me a couple of weeks to wrap my head around the fact that I actually did it and think about it all.  There were things that I did right, and things that I need to do differently next time.  These tips are just things that I learned while going through the training for the first time.  I am not an expert, as this was the first and only time I have done a marathon.  But, for all of you out there that are thinking about one, these are things that I would have liked to have known before I did it.  more “Marathon Training Tips”

Mother’s Day Weekend Recap

Dog Walking, Running, and a Race

Happy Mother’s Day!  I hope you all had a great week!  This was week two after my marathon and it was pretty laid back.  I had a 5K on Saturday, so I made sure to get in a few runs.  But, I didn’t pressure myself to do it.  I want to get back to where I want to run and am running because I enjoy it.  Towards the end of training I was dreading runs, and honestly didn’t want to do them.  I had to force myself to put my shoes on and get out the door.  This week I felt so much better about them.  I am also trying to build up Jake’s mileage.  I want him to be able to run 3 miles with me.  But, I don’t want to overdo it.  He’s pretty good about going 2 miles if it’s not too hot.  And, since I wasn’t running enormous amounts of miles, I had a lot more energy for other workouts.  Here’s what my week looked like. more “Dog Walking, Running, and a Race”
